In the Clouds

There he was, God. Having just finished up destroying a town. But, that wasn't what his name was. It was just a title given to him, that he had to attract upon. Only a handful of people knew what his name was. He barely told it to anyone, to make sure that they couldn't find out his past. He'd rather not have anyone find out about Fabian, and what he went through. No one needed to know, so he wouldn't let them know.

Fabian hummed to himself, attempting to distract his mind from what he had just previously done. He'd rather not think about it, if possible. He truly would rather not do actions such as those, but it was all for a certain plan. He came to a stop in the sky, right below a large cloud. He lifted his finger, drawing a circle in the air. An orange, glowing trail was left behind, flashing slightly to signal that the portal was open. Fabian hesitated a moment. They're not going to be happy with me when I get back…. Fabian sighed, letting his hand drop. Well, better deal with it now rather than later. He flew through the circle, bursting through the clouds.

There were only a few buildings scattered around, most of them made from marble. The 'clouds' beneath him were an odd material, composed mostly of magic. They still resemble clouds in a way, but were secretly a portal back down to the mortal realm. Fabian gently lowered himself down, landing down onto the clouds and glancing around.

Business as always.

He didn't spot the two angels, putting his hands on his hips. Where are they? Are they sneaking up behind me or something? Fabian huffed, before he put a wide grin on his face.

"I'm back~!" He called out. He was then immediately greeted by a punch in the face. Fabian didn't say anything for a moment, staring at the floor. He looked up at his attacker, a clearly forced smile on his face. "Nice to see you too, I guess."

"What the hell are you doing?" His attacker shouted. He had dark green hair, and dark colored eyes that were close to a purple shade. He had a forest green jacket on, and a dark yellow shirt underneath. He was rather tall, and had a dark brown backpack.

Fabian shrugged. "I dunno! Messing around." He closed his eyes, rubbing at his cheek. He was practically waiting for another impact, but it did not come.

"Lucas, calm down." Fabian opened his eyes, spotting the person who had defended him. They had blonde hair, and piercing yellow eyes. They were rather tall, having a long, blue jacket with white fluffy lining around the edges of the fabric. They wore a dark shirt underneath, and light brown pants. The most eye catching thing about him were the large white wings coming from his face. Lucas looked at him for a moment, before he pulled his hand away with a huff. "Why did you do that?"

"Because! He deserved it!" Lucas replied.

Fabian laughed. "Lucas, you seemed to not be aware of how easy I could just get rid of you." Lucas went silent. Fabian did as well, the smile dropping off his face. "All it really takes is for me to take that earring from you, y'know." He shrugged. "And who knows what'll happen to you if I just took it away! You may just immediately die to your disease! Either that, or you'll fall out of the sky and experience g-force when you hit the ground. Either one."

Lucas glowered. "Shut up, smartass." He grumbled.

Fabian snickered, turning to his left. "Anyways, Matias, what did I miss?" He referred to the blonde angel that had prevented Lucas from attacking him "I feel like I missed a lot, considering how Lucas literally punched me in the face." Fabian sniffled, acting as if he was crying. "That's so rude! Didn't anyone tell you that punching someone in the face when they say 'hi' isn't nice?"

Matias sighed. "You didn't really miss anything. It's just that, y'know...."

Fabian paused, nodding his head. "Yeah, I get it." He placed his hands on the back of his head, sighing slightly. "You know I don't want to do it either."

"If you don't want to, then you shouldn't do it at all!" Lucas shouted back.

Fabian blinked, smiling softly. "Not like I have too much of a decision in that! It's really all I can do right now."

Lucas paused, huffing in anger. Fabian raised his eyebrows in a condescending manner. "What does that even mean? Shouldn't you- like- all powerful or whatever according to you? Can't you just do whatever you want like you always do? That's what you've said before!"

Fabian tapped the bottom of his chin. "Huh~?" He grinned. "Oh yeah! Sorry, I was lying. Even I have some type of restrictions!" Lucas opened his mouth to say something, but Fabian cut him off. "And before you ask, I'm not telling you what those are. All I'll say, is that there are certain other people in the world who I can't seem to find." Fabian let his hands drop. "And on that ominous note, I am forever shutting up. Not telling you anything, you get to think about the reasons and suffer because of them." He grinned smugly, staring Lucas down.

Lucas stared at Fabian for a moment, before he huffed again and turned away. "I hate you…." On that note, Lucas started walking away, heading towards one of the more open marble buildings.

Fabian blinked, watching him storm away like a toddler who didn't get the toy they wanted. Fabian was slightly amused at that thought, but he crossed his arms, deciding he wouldn't be one upped by Lucas. "Hmph! I can't believe he would just turn around and leave!" Fabian pouted, puffing out his left cheek. "Asshole…."

Matias sighed, walking up next to the gremlin and crouching down to meet his level. "Well, he has his reasons, y'know." Matias frowned. "I sure didn't understand what was happening when you first started." He ruffled his hair a little

Fabian brushed Matias's hand away with a smile, going silent for a moment. He exhaled through his nostrils, closing his eyes and tilting his head to the side with a bright smile on his face. "Aw, c'mon! I can't believe you didn't trust me!" Fabian opened one of his eyes, giving Matias a curious look. "Am I really that untrustworthy?"

Matias went silent, his mouth curving down into an uneasy frown. Fabian blinked, waiting for an answer. Matias hesitated. "U-Um…." He panicked slightly, looking away and avoiding Fabian's eyes. He didn't directly answer, but Fabian could tell what his answer would be if Matias did respond.

Fabian gasped dramatically, placing a hand on his chest as if he was deeply hurt. "Matias! I can't believe you!" Fabian sobbed. "Y-You really didn't have any faith in me?"

"N-No! It's just that… I… um…." Matias stumbled over his words, trying to figure out the right thing to say.

Fabian laughed, patting Matias on the top of his dead. "Just kidding! I can understand that." Fabian's smile fell off his face, looking towards the ground. "I mean, I had been missing for a while. People can change pretty easily in just a couple of years." Fabian pointed a finger at Matias. "If you were to pull the same thing on me, I would probably feel the same!

"Y-Yeah, I guess so..." Matias sighed. "I was really worried when you pulled that off…. I thought you went crazy or something…."

"Y'know what, same." Fabian admitted. "I mean, minus the crazy part. I was really worried about it. Especially when you pulled out a sword and threatened to stab me! For a moment, I thought you would just stab me in the chest or something!" Fabian stepped a little closer to Matias, getting up in his face. "But... I guess I had already stolen your heart~!" Fabian playfully poked Matias in the cheek, making him blush a little.

He quickly brushed the shorter's hand away, sighing and turning away from Fabian. "F-Fabian, please. Don't make comments like those… they're embarrassing…."

Fabian frowned, stepping back and throwing his hands out by his waist. "Aw, c'mon! It's fun, making comments like that!" Fabian grinned, walking around him to stare at Matias's face. "Oooo~ you're still getting flustered, hehehe!" Fabian poked him in the cheek again, Matias smacking his hand out of the way.

He groaned, covering his face up, which made Fabian laugh. Matias turned towards him, the blush mostly gone. Bummer…. Fabian thought to himself. Matias seemed to still be a bit uncomfortable, deciding to change the subject. "Do you ever plan on telling Lucas what you're doing?" He asked.

Fabian tapped the bottom of his lip. "Hm... I don't know!" He shrugged, grinning up at Matias.

"You're lying."

"Yeah, okay." Fabian turned to the direction Lucas had walked off in, staring at the marble building. "I'll tell him eventually. Either when my 'plan' actually works, or he get's mad at me and tries to shove a sword up my ass." Matias snickered slightly, making Fabian smile.

"He wouldn't do that." Matias pointed out, a small smile still on his face. "I don't exactly know what happened between you two back then, but I'm assuming it was a strong enough connection that he wouldn't just murder you without any evidence."

"Hm…." Fabian hummed, thinking about it for a moment, before he nodded. "Yeah, you're probably right! You're really good at figuring stuff out, so I'll believe it!"

"Please tell me that you weren't being sarcastic there…." Matias mumbled, rubbing his shoulder.

Fabian shook his head, with a chuckle. "Of course not! I wouldn't lie about things like that, you realize? There's no point in it!" Fabian huffed, turning away from Matias and taking a small step forward. "Anyways, should we go talk to him? We should go find Lucas in his baby rage before he waltzes off the clouds and fucking dies." Matias laughed again, Fabian joining his laughter that time.

Typically, falling off wouldn't be a problem for angels. But, the issue was that Lucas didn't have any wings. The reason for that was, because before he was an angel, he'd been stricken with a rather serious disease. The disease wasn't affecting him now, but because of the sickness he ended up without any wings. He was capable of using magic, but he was missing quite a large factor about being an angel. He'd been able to manage quite fine, but that didn't' mean there weren't any mishaps. It caused Lucas's time around in the clouds to be a little dangerous. One time, Lucas had fallen off when he wasn't paying attention. Fabian wasn't there, but luckily enough for him Matias was just coming back from helping some mortals. Even luckier, Matias was coming from an angle where he could both see Lucas falling, and close enough that he could catch him before he hit the ground.

Ever since then, Lucas has had a hard time walking around the place, feeling nervous about falling off again. But it had been... a year? Since that incident? Fabian thinks it had been about a year since it happened. Fabian huffed, rubbing his forehead as he attempted to remember. After trying for about two seconds, he shrugged and just gave up. "Where'd he go anyways?" He said to Matias, who was walking right next to him. Fabian placed his hand above his eyes, blocking the sunlight from blinding him. He huffed, letting his hand drop. "I don't see him...!" Fabian whined, narrowing his eyes.

Matias sighed, grabbing Fabian's hand and dragging him upwards into the sky. Fabian slowly let his wings out, letting Matias do most of the work. Fabian was rather light, so Matias was doing just fine. "Just, let's look around. He couldn't have gone too far." Matias suggested. Fabian smiled, placing a finger on his cheek.

"Aw, Matias's taking me on a date~!" Fabian teased, making Matias blush slightly. He shook his head deciding to ignore the comment as best he could. He was not succeeding very well, but he remained silent.

The two flew up high, looking around for Lucas. "There! I see him!" Fabian pointed to his right, having spotted Lucas sulking quite the distance away. "C'mon, Maimai! Let's go!" Fabian immediately sped off, dragging Matias along with him. Lucas noticed the sound of wings beating, deciding to look up. Fabian gave him a friendly wave, sending him a smile. "Hey Lucas! Why'd you run off like that?"

"No reason..." Lucas trailed off.

Fabian blinked, unimpressed. His expression went blank, as he stopped waving. "Seriously? You're lying to me? Me of all people?" He cleared his throat. "Oh~ it's not like I'm the person who tends to lie or be sarcastic on a daily basis! Jeez, it's like I don't know what lying is! I've never lied in my entire life, no way. There is absolutely no conceivable way that I would lie to anyone, and/or anything! So, lying to me of all people should be-"

"Okay, I get it!" Lucas shouted. Fabian gave him a smug grin, making Lucas twitch in anger. He laughed mockingly, but couldn't quite finish since Matias bonked him on the head.

"Ow!" Fabian shouted, doubling over and crouching low to the ground. "Ow, ow, ow, ow…!" He whimpered, rubbing the back of his head. "That's mean! And wasn't very nice!" He sent an accusing finger at Matias. "That's it! I'm firing you!"

"W-What?" Matias blinked, confused beyond belief. His eyes widened quickly, before he smiled, and decided to play it off. "No please. I'm broke, and I can't get any other job please I need money.."

"You don't even get paid for this, you ding dong." Fabian told him.

"Hey yeah!" Lucas spoke up.

"Fuck....!" Fabian admitted. "I, uh… um… uh... shhh… don't say anything….." He placed a finger over his mouth, to signal being quiet.

The three of them laughed, realizing just how stupid this little skit was. Fabian grinned, turning to Lucas. "Well, that was fun! Anyways, I have a feeling you wanted to say something!"

Lucas sighed, nodding his head. "Yeah, I do. I know lying was quite the bad use of judgement-"

"'Bad'?! I'd say it was horrible!" Fabian commented.

Matias sighed, elbowing Fabian in the shoulder. "Let him finish, you prick." Fabian snickered, going silent right after he finished laughing.

Lucas shot Fabian a glare, before he continued. "I'm just… I'm really upset with how things have been going… I surely didn't think that you'd ever do something like this. I had my reasons for agreeing to you terms, but I don't like how you've gone from wanting to help people, to just trying to kill them constantly.

Fabian stiffens slightly, thinking over it. So, that's what he thinks about it? I guess that means it's working pretty well. Fabian nods, a slow sigh escaping him. "Makes sense. Me too, to be fully honest. I don't like it either."

"Then why the fuck are you doing it?" Lucas asked, a hint of aggression in his voice.

Fabian went silent, not wanting to tell Lucas the whole entire thing. What should I say? I can't just keep avoiding. I need an excuse. But, I can't think of a believable one so quickly! Fabian furrowed his brows for a moment, hardly noticeable. Matias glanced at Fabian, seeming to notice his expression change. At that moment, Matias decided to intervene at that point. "I'm not sure of the details myself, but it's in order to help people. So that they aren't as scared."

Lucas hesitated. "Scared of what?"

Thanks, Matias, For getting me out of that. Fabian pouted. "C'mon, Maimai! Why you gotta spoil the surprise like that!" Fabian sighed, crossing his arms. "Listen, Lucas. The first time with the natural disasters and stuff, aka that earthquake thingy, wasn't actually me. I took credit for it though. I didn't want people to get scared that some random force was doing it, so I'm taking the blame for now." Fabian paused for a moment, letting Lucas take the information in. "I can't tell you all of it right now, but that's the gist."

Lucas went silent, thinking it over. He gripped the straps of his backpack, staring at the ground. "O-Oh."

Fabian laughed. "Ha, you feel real~ stupid right now, don't you?" Lucas avoided eye contact, clearly not wanting to say anything. Fabian huffed. "Oh, come on! Are you seriously upset over such a small comment?"

"I'm not!" Lucas retorted. "I just, I don't know!" He admitted, letting out an irritated sigh. Fabian went silent, simply staring at Lucas. He was waiting for an answer. Lucas rubbed his eyes. "Listen, Fabian, it's just, I was worried. It was such a sudden change, I didn't know. I thought something might have happened…."

Fabian blinked, before he grinned. "Aw, it's okay, Luc-ass. I forgive you!"

"What?!"

Fabian laughed, standing up and running away. Lucas stood up and went after him. Matias simply laughed to himself, watching the two run around. Lucas was getting a little close to him, so Fabian flew upwards. He flew just high enough that Lucas wouldn't be able to reach him without any help. Lucas glared at him, Fabian making his smile even smugger. "Aw, what's wrong~? Can't reach me?" He taunted.

Lucas glared at him. "Asshole! You know I can't reach up there!"

"Hehe, c'mon Lucas! I won't make a move for a minute!" Fabian stayed there in the middle of the sky, Lucas looking up at him, struggling to come up with something. Fabian glanced at Matias, trying to give a subtle hint. Matias made eye contact, shrugging. Fabian sighed, crossing his arms. "Come on, Lucas! I don't have all day!" He pouted. Fabian continued staring at Matias. "I don't wanna explain to the itty bitty pea brain how to catch me! That would be just unfair!" Lucas sighed, shaking his head. Fabian laughed, winking at Matias. He shrugged, smiling back at him.

Lucas stared at Fabian, deciding to follow his gaze. He spotted Matias, simply standing and watching the two. Lucas made eye contact with him, Matias casually winking at him for a hint. Lucas thought for a moment, before he nodded and ran over to him. The two of them talked for a moment, occasionally glancing back at Fabian. Lucas raised his finger, suggesting something in which Matias grinned. Fabian smiled, as he watched the two scheme together. Did he figure it out? Matias lifted off the ground, hovering a little bit above Lucas. Lucas raised his hands, as Matias grabbed him and lifted both of them up. Fabian made his eyes widen, faking surprise."Oh shit." He admitted.

"I'm gonna get you!" Lucas declared, a confident smile on his face.

Fabian turned around, flying away. "Wah! Matias, Lucas's gonna beat me up! I can't believe you're helping him, you traitor!"

"You never said I couldn't help him." Matias replied with a smirk.

"Agh, that's true!" Fabian dived down under the two, dodging around them. "Damn it! Me and my stupid self… should have thought of that!" He pointed a finger gun at the two. "However, I shall smite you before you can tag me! I refuse to lose my status!"

"Well, too bad you're going to be losing it!" Lucas called out.

"Confident, are we?" Fabian smiled, starting to channel an evil villain persona. "You shall never defeat me, heroes! For I am far more powerful than you! Watch as I monologue for three hours, allowing you to stab me in the fucking chest!" The two 'heroes' seemed to have a hard time not cracking up, which made Fabian giggle. "Oh, is the pressure getting the heroes? You all are shaking! I'm so~ intimidating! Me and my whole two inches of height-"

At that moment, Matias had thrown Lucas at Fabian, causing the two to tumble out of the sky, landing onto the ground. Fabian let out a small 'oof' as he hit the ground, feeling Lucas's weight on top of him. "Got ya!" He declared, giving Fabian a smug grin.

Fabian puffed out his cheeks, crossing his arms. "Fine, whatever!" He huffed, pushing Lucas off of him. The tension from before had faded, and they were once again just a small group of friends, playing games together. Matias came down to the ground, sitting down next to Fabian. Lucas flipped over, leaving Fabian in between the two angels.

"That was fun!" Fabian admitted. "Can't believe it took you so long to figure it out, idiot! I was looking at Matias the whole time!"

"Wait, you were aware of that?" Lucas asked. "You wanted me to get help from Matias?"

"Yeah, he did." Matias smiled. "He likes to play tag against the both of us, remember?"

"Oh yeah…." He mused. "I forgot about that."

"How could you?!" Fabian suddenly shouted. "I thought you all knew I was the God of Tag!" Fabian cleared his throat quickly. "Trademarked. Oh, only tag, by the way! I suck at literally everything else."

"Okay, I know that that is definitely a lie." Lucas pointed out.

"You can only see through my lies now?" Fabian snickered.

Lucas crossed his arms, looking away. "S-Shut up!" Matias laughed, Fabian smiling and looking away from him. He didn't realize immediately, but he started zoning out. He could faintly hear the other two talking, when he realized that he was actually pretty tired. He was hardly paying attention, as he rubbed at his eyes slightly. Ah, I'm tired. I haven't slept in like, what, days? Weeks? Months? I don't remember. Fabian yawned, which caught the attention of both Matias and Lucas.

"Fabian?" Matias spoke up. "Are you tired?"

Fabian blinked, looking up at him. He smiled. "No~ of course not!" Fabian laughed, before he threw himself forwards and pretended to pass out. Before either could say anything, Fabian shot back up with a bright smile. "Just kidding! I'm fine!"

Lucas huffed. "C'mon, man! Why do you gotta get us worried like that?"

Fabian snickered. "Hehehe, cuz it's fun~!" Fabian yawned again, despite his misgivings. Matias sighed, pulling the liar towards him. Fabian's head rested on Matias's shoulder. His breathing hitched slightly, feeling a little confused. "Uh...."

"Just go to sleep." Matias covered his own face with his hand. "You obviously need it. You're tired, and you've been doing a lot of work recently."

Fabian blinked, feeling a little confused, but shrugged. "If I didn't know any better, I'd think that my beloved Maimai is making a move~." Matias stayed silent, but it was pretty obvious he was blushing.

"Just go knock yourself out…." Fabian smiled, but didn't say anything, just deciding to take Matias's offer.

"How long has it been since you've slept? I don't remember you ever going to sleep." Lucas asked.

Fabian blinked, his eyelids drooping slightly. He half shrugged. "I dunno... a few years...? Maybe...?" Lucas looked like he wanted to ask something else, but Matias quickly shushed him. The two went silent, and Fabian stared off. Fabian sighed. "You two can keep talking..." He mumbled. "I'd prefer it, anyways..."

The two hesitated. "Are you sure? It could be too much noise..." Matias said. Fabian smiled softly. He's always been like that. Ever since he was a kid. Fabian laughed.

"Of course!" Fabian claimed. "It'll give me something to listen to, at least."

"Don't tell me you're going to pretend to fall asleep and suddenly jump scare us!" Lucas shouted.

Fabian stared at him for a moment, before a sinister smile spread across his face. "If I had that intention, I would have done it already~." Fabian then smiled sweetly, before he closed his eyes. Matias and Lucas eventually started talking to one another. Fabian was barely listening, but it was good background noise.

How long has it been since these two have been up here? Fabian wondered. He internally shrugged. That doesn't matter. I've been losing track of time lately. I can ask one of them, they'd probably remember. Fabian returned to listening to Matias and Lucas's conversation.

"How did you meet him?" Lucas asked.

Matias laughed softly. "Long story, actually." Matias paused. "I'll give you the important one. When the first natural disaster started, he kinda showed up. Then we talked, and he did the questions stuff." Matias paused. "Well, that was after I threatened to kill him."

"Woah, okay." Lucas laughed. "I didn't expect that from you."

"He... didn't either." Matias paused again. "Okay, I didn't expect that from myself either." Fabian smiled softly at that memory. That was rather amusing. But, I was a little frightened. It was hard for me to believe that Matias would try to do that to me. "What about you, Lucas?"

Lucas paused. "Well, that's a long story as well, but it doesn't make nearly as much sense when shortened."

Fabian thought about it for a moment, before realizing Lucas was right. Fabian paused, before he started thinking about it as well. It was around then that he finally found himself slowly zoning out, blocking out whatever Lucas and Matias were talking about. Actually, that wasn't it. Both had gone silent, staring at Fabian.

"Never thought he'd look so peaceful… he's just so full of energy…." Lucas admitted.

Matias exhaled softly. Fabian could guess he had a smile on his face as well. "Well… it's always nice whenever he gets rest. He's pretty active, he needs it."

"Yeah. Always going around, teasing people, doing whatever he's doing, I honestly don't understand."

"Sorry, he'll explain it later."

"I hope! I feel so left out!" Lucas complained.

Matias laughed a little. "Hey, it's okay. That's just how he is. He's never been all that trusting."

"How do you know this?" Lucas asked.

"Well, it's a long story. Also, I'm not sure if Fabian would be okay with me sharing…."

Lucas sighed, seeming upset. "I guess so. Well, since we have time, I'll tell you about how me and Fabian met!"

"Really? I've been curious about that…."

"Yup! So, it all started about four years ago…."

I'm here to say I update every other day. Also to say this story moves pretty quickly, but it's still relatively long. Sorry abou the cliffhangar, it's just that the next part if very long, and I'd rather not put all of that in the second chapter. It's long enough, and I don't feel like adding an extra thirteen pages or so to it.

Anyways, thanks for reading, and I hope you have a good day! :D
