I love how stories from the olden days can be connected to one another
Especially stories from mythology and the characters within them
If you want to look back on mythology the Romans and the Greeks are pretty much exactly the same
If you were to look at Norse mythology they would have similarities but be more Viking
That seems to be a trend in polytheistic religions
I was reading something earlier and it mentioned Shinigami (死神)
Which for those who are unaware is the Japanese god of death I guess you could say
To break down the language shi means death or the number 4 and gami means god but in other instances can mean paper or hair.
To get back on track the story I was reading had to do with Greek mythology and they were talking about Thanatos which is the Greek god of death
But it has me wondering about the similarities between him and the Japanese Shinigami as they are both affiliated with death
As they both bring the souls of the disease to their rightful resting place
But it makes me question how many more similarities are there between the two?
The same question could be asked about Zeus and Odin as they both are in a similar myth for the beginning of lycanthropy
The Native Americans were similar to the Greeks with the creation stories. I recall one from the Native Americans talking about the world starting on the turtles back which is similar to the creation of Gaia for the Greeks
With so many similarities between individuals with similar skill sets I don't know if will be too far-fetched to believe that they are all referring to the same individual and they just change the names
I really need to stop listening and reading mythology things these days
Have a good weekend
