10 The Accident

As Icarus was thinking about these things, a light noise sounded out. He looked towards the baby and found it slowly waking up. He crawled up to the baby and it opened its eyes, looking at him with half opened eyes. Although Icarus was nine months old, he actually looked like he was well above one year of age. He blamed it on his stats which were definitely higher than a normal baby. There was a staring contest that began between him and the baby. It was the most fun he could have right now.

'So did you have fun with Jasmine?' Sana asked Icarus as they sped along the dirt road towards their home. He simply stared at her with droopy eyes and a raised eyebrow. Sana chuckled at this reaction from him. Daedalus just shook his head. He didn't want to talk anymore, so he closed his eyes and let the cool breeze gently caress him to sleep. Sana stared at her sleeping baby and sighed. 'He turned out to be much more powerful than we originally thought.' There was a short duration of complete silence. 'Honey, you know what we must do.'

'We had a deal.' Daedalus looked at Sana

'I know we did but that was on the basis of his predicted stats. The situation is as far from predicted as we could get though.'

'Doesn't matter.'

'Doesn't matter?! Not only are his stats much larger than we predicted, even their growth is much faster than we originally thought. So don't tell me that it doesn't matter. Icarus has too much strength, he could potentially hurt himself!'

Daedalus sighed heavily before he asked, 'then what do you propose we should? Train a barely one year old child to swing around swords?!'

Sana shook her head. 'We don't need to do something so extreme. Just teach him force field skills. Something to keep him occupied.'

There dawned an awkward silence between them. Nobody spoke until they got home. As Sana lifted Icarus out of the car, Daedalus finally opened his mouth. 'Very well. But we will only teach him the most basic of the skills.' Sana smiled at Daedalus and planted a kiss on his forehead before walking inside.

Icarus had a strange dream. He was floating in pitch darkness, like he was back in the womb except he didn't feel any warmth. Instead, he felt a range of sensations on skin. He furtively looked around, trying to find the origin of these sensations when he came across a glowing red light, stuck to his thigh. Icarus knew that he could communicate with it, just like he knew that he could speak with his mouth; it was instinctual.

As the light detached from his thigh, like a dark curtain falling, all the other coloured light balls revealed themselves as well. He found himself swimming in lights. 'Woah!' His sleep was broken as he woke up in pitch black darkness. 'Damn, that was a strange dream.' He stroked his chin, trying to make sense of it. It was definitely more than just a simple dream, when he was in the womb he had experienced something similar awakening the Elemental King power. 'Lets try it shall we?' Surprisingly, after he came out of the womb he hadn't felt any semblance of that, although his Weapon King power had spiked once. It when he was holding a small wooden knife for eating. The knife had shot out his hands and embedded itself in a wooden pylon. He wasn't allowed to touch knives of any kind after that. Icarus shook his head, forcing these stray thoughts to the back of his head. Then closing his eyes and taking a deep breath, he tried to concentrate on feeling the wind. That was similar to how it had been done in the womb.

At first there was nothing, just pin drop silence. As time went by, there was a slight breeze on his skin, at the same time he could taste a minty flavour on his tongue. Opening his eyes he could see it in the air; the wind. Raising his hand, he willed it and tiny green coloured strands started spinning on his palm. It wasn't just a hallucination either, he could feel the wind physically swirling on his palm. That was when an idea came to his mind. He willed the strands to start swirling around him and kept them swirling until he finally felt that he was weightless. Slowly standing up, he found that he could even jump and float. Lightly jumping up, he found himself rising uncontrollably. 'Hahaha! This is awesome!' As he rose into the air, a tornado was whipped up in room.

Crash!

The cot was overturned and tossed against the wall, smashing it into a million pieces. 'Wait! wait, slow down!'

Boom!

The pen fence was ripped off the floor and smashed into the wall adjacent to. 'I SAID STOP!'

He screamed, agitating the particles and causing them to start dispersing.

Bang!

'Icarus, I heard a loud s-' His mother rushed in, finding him laying flat on the ground with the entire room in a complete mess. The wall had holes in them with one end of the pen fence halfway through one wall and the other end halfway through another. As for the cot, there was no cot anymore. There were just wood splinters lying all over the room. 'Awub.' He rubbed his head as he slowly sat up. He looked up to find her staring at him in anger. He knew that she wasn't pretending this time.

'What do you think you were doing young man?' Icarus had his head down when faced with the stares of his parents. They were correct in being angry with him, he could have been hurt. It was lucky that he was born with an extremely strong body so he wasn't hurt from the fall. That was the least of his worries though. The damage he had caused in room was extensive and those objects flying around could have really hurt him. His mom looked at him before turning towards his dad. 'Honey, do you have something to say to Icarus?'

His father heaved a heavy sigh and stared him dead in the eye. 'Son, we don't want you using your powers anymore.' Icarus immediately felt an anger bubbling inside of him. He took a deep breath and waited for it to calm down. The anger was coming from the fact that he had to hide everything he has. Especially when his father was around. He couldn't touch weapons or anything even resembling a weapon, he couldn't talk because he was scared of freaking his parents out. It was his fault this time but in the end it was hiding something he was capable of; controlling the elements. Before today it was implied but today it finally came out. In all this judgment about the way his parents treated him, Icarus forgot one crucial thing; he was just a nine month old baby and those were perfectly normal things to protect a baby from. Even if he knew though, it wouldn't have mattered to him because the way his parents talked to him was as if he was older than his age thus he also expected his treatment to be like older his age.

Sana honestly was expecting Daedalus to tell Icarus not to use his powers until he was taught the proper method of usage, by them. She never expected him to outright ban him from using his powers. 'Honey, I thought we had a plan.' Daedalus was staring at the pen frame which was halfway through both walls when Sana walked in.

'We did. Until I had a look at the damage he caused inadvertently. Then I changed my mind.'

Sana walked up to him and squeezed his shoulders. 'I know you are scared that he will hurt himself using his powers, that is precisely why we should train him in it.' Daedalus didn't say anything and just shook his head.
