Chapter 7

***

Shay brought me to the park because she wanted me to be familiar with the place since she won't be around much due to her studies and job. Also, I get this feeling that I will be staying for quite some time, my parents haven't found me yet and it's been a month when Shay found me.

I have learned a lot during my stay here, this will be my twelfth time visiting the park and it always gets better. This time we were greeted by Chloe, a kid with blonde hair and hazel eyes, her mother and Shay are good friends and she likes spending time with Shay before I got in town.

The first time I visited the park, Chloe greeted me along with her mother and since then they were teaching me different kinds of stuff like baking, cooking, and sewing which comes in handy since most of the time I would accidentally rip a part of my clothes.

Oh and by the way, I also got a part-time job at a diner. My first day was not a good memory because I made mistakes but isn't it the first step in improving?

I snapped out of my thoughts when I heard Shay's voice, "It's been a month and I always keep forgetting on bringing you to my favorite shop."

"Well, it's not too late to bring me there since we won't be doing anything for the rest of the day, right?" It's our day off from work and it's the weekend, which means she doesn't have any classes at school.

We bid our goodbye to Chloe and Amy, Chloe's mother, saying that we'll be visiting a favorite shop of Shay. Before leaving we offered them to go with us but Amy was busy with paperwork's and Chloe has a class tomorrow she shouldn't miss it.

"Tell me about this favorite shop of yours." she looked at me with a glint of excitement.

"Well, they're making the best dessert I have ever tasted in my whole life! Oh, you should pick anything you want, it's on me." she gave me a wink and put her arm around my shoulder. We've learned a lot about each other and that's why we became close now, unlike when the first time we met. Though I still haven't told her about what happened to me. I'm just finding the right time to tell her, I am thinking of telling her about it after asking her if she believes in myths.

We stopped in front of a cute looking store, once we stepped in the shop my nose was immediately hit with a sweet aroma. It's not a sweet one but it made me crave dessert. Once we reached the counter I noticed the woman taking the order has pastel purple hair, I couldn't take a look at how long her hair was.

As soon as she looked up I saw that there was a glint of shock in her eyes and when she blinked it was gone. I guess I was too emerged with the movies I've been watching in Shay's home that I confuse reality with fantasy. But wouldn't that sound inappropriate since I've seen a bit of creature which only appears in books when I was in the forest?

I should set that thought aside, I was imagining things right now.

"Hey, Shay! Who do we have here?" the woman greeted and gave me a sweet smile. She seems, friendly.

"This is my cousin Anastasia, I brought her here because I've been bragging about your dessert for quite some time now."

She took out her hand, "Hi! I'm Amethyst." I shake hands with her. "Just like your hair. I love it." I said, her hair looks soft and natural.

We ordered and Amethyst directed us to a vacant table. I picked out a Blueberry cheesecake because the toppings resembled the fruit that mom picks out of the forest. Shay got a chocolate cake. It was Amethyst who picked out a chocolate shake for each one of us saying that it will be on the house.

It wasn't long when we finished everything, after paying we headed out of the store. Right after stepping out of the shop, we were stopped by a group of people. That looked around our age.

"Move, dirt." one of them said, she has black eyes and dark brown hair.

"You should pick people your size." I didn't expect that coming out from Shay. I've seen this same scenario in some movies I've watched, and the one being bullied in the movies doesn't fight back. Oh well, this isn't a movie, this is real life. I stood silent beside her and started looking at each one of them. By the vibe they were giving, they are not fond of Shay.

"Say that again?"

"You should pick your size, Cindy." so that's her name, she said nothing in return and glared. Cindy and her group walked past us, but before she could bump into Shay's shoulder I pulled Shay to my side.

I've seen a lot of movies and it's always associated with an antagonist bumping into the shoulder of the protagonist when walking past.

After that scene, we headed back to the house and prepared dinner. Remember Lisa? She's a housemate of Shay, she never talked to me in one month. She keeps on ignoring me which I became immune to. Lately, she's been acting weird, I would see her looking at me and would look away when I was looking at her. The look she gave was like she was preying on me. It was like she's reading my every move and will be constantly looking on her phone and type.
