12 Revelation - relation

All the time during the ride Eira and George didn´t talk much. Eira just looked outside the window and watching the street lights pass the window. George was just focusing on driving.

Soon they arrive at her home and she got out before George could open the door for her. She wanted to thank him and quickly go inside. But he held her back.

"Wait. About today... my father had always wanted to meet you. I didn´t know why but I just recently found out why. Do you want to know?" He asked her.

Eira scrunched her brows and look at him questioning.

"Why would your father want to meet him. Up till now I never had something to do with him."

"That is what you believe. But we all know that there is something connecting you and my family." George looked at her mysteriously.

It dawned to her what George was trying to point her at. She just kept quiet. George just continued to speak seeing no sign of Eira trying to stop him.

"I don´t know how long my father knew about it but when he heard about me wanting to sponsor your company he strictly refused. He had a huge fight with my mother and I overheard their conversation. Mother then donated herself the money to your project. My father got furious when he heard about it. Today's dinner had solely the reason to test you."

"So what exactly do you want to tell me?" Eira cautiously asked.

"What I am trying to tell you is that my father knows that you are my mother's biological daughter."

It made all sense to Eira now. She finally understood why Mr. Henning was watching her every move since she walked into his house.

"Then when did you know about it?" She asked George.

"I coincidentally overheard them some time ago. I was the one who suggested mother to donate the money. That way she could help you and father wouldn´t be able to take it back. My father didn´t want me to sign the contract. So I had to be a little rude to you to call the contract off." George smiled bitterly.

"You could have told me that you didn´t want to sign the contract anymore. Why create such a mess?"

"If I told you nicely off you would still try to have contact with our company in the future right? I don´t think you should that because of my father."

"I am sorry. I shouldn´t have overreacted like that." Eira apologized.

"No, it´s alright. That was just perfect. Just heed my advice and distance yourself from us. My father can get really scary when he is angry. I am just glad that you denied your own mother's existence in front of him. You did everything right." George smiled at her.

"Okay but... don´t you hate her or me?" Eira asked.

"Why should I? Elsa was always nice to me. I am not sure why she hid the truth that she already had a family before but I don´t really hate her. And you..." He looked at her with pity in his eyes.

"I really am amazed how far you already came. I believe it was hard for you and your dad. Do you hate your mother?" He continued.

Eira hesitated to answer. She thought about his question for a while and then answered him.

"I do resent her. She just cruelly left me and dad and kept on living as nothing happened. To this day I don´t know the reason why she suddenly decided to marry your father. And now I just don´t care. I don´t need her."

"Don´t you miss her?"

"... NO. Now I don´t miss her anymore."

"Mhm okay. I have the feeling that Elsa wants to have a talk with you. When the time comes you should listen to her. I live with her for many years and know that she can´t be someone who just abandons her own daughter. Especially such a smart daughter like you."

"I´ll try to listen to her. Thanks for telling me." Eira was truly grateful for George to tell her the truth. She saw him in a completely different light now and she had the feeling that she could trust him.

"Alright go in little sister." George smiled and pushed her to the door.

Eira laughed.

"I am your little sister now? Don´t let your father hear that." She took out her keys and opened the door.

"Goodnight Mr. Henning. Drive home safely." She winked at him smiling.

"Have a good night Miss Morgan." George smiled back at her.

At the Henning mansion, Mr. and Mrs. Henning were getting ready to go to sleep. Mrs. Henning saw that her husband was deeply thinking about something so she kept quiet and lay down in bed to go to sleep.

Mr. Henning also wanted to go to sleep but stopped in his tracks and looked at her.

"Today after seeing your daughter what did you feel?" He asked her.

Mrs. Henning opened her eyes again and looked at him.

"I think she grew up well. She will become very successful later on." She answered carefully.

"When I married you I expected from you that you would be a good wife and a good mother. That´s all I needed. You promised me that you would never face your family again and I would never appear in front of HIM again. Why did you interfere with my business?" He pierced her with his eyes and watched her reaction.

"I just thought that you were just being unfair. Suddenly pulling out of the contract and letting George being rude to Eira isn´t fair. The contract would have brought us profit. There was no reason to stop it."

"What do you understand from the business. I warn you. Never ever dare to interfere in my business again. And don´t even dare to let MY son do what you want."

With that warning, Mr. Henning turned off the light and went to sleep. Mrs. Henning quietly laid down and hid in the bed covers. A tear was silently falling down her cheek.
