4 A deal

Eira walked into the meeting room and sat down on a chair. She crossed her arms and waited impatient for Mr. Henning to arrive. Once in a while she would glance at her watch and every time she started to furrow her brows even more.

One more minute and it's 9 o'clock.

30 seconds

10 seconds

Eira looked at the door and waited. She tapped her foot repeatedly and waited one more minute. Still nothing.

She tried to calm herself down. Let's give him five more minutes. The traffic could be bad.

Again five minutes past.

Ten minutes past.

Okay last chance, let's give him five more minutes.

Still... nothing.

Eira was fuming in rage and now was running wild. She couldn't wait and sit anymore. She paced around in the meeting room and cursed that damn Henning who dared to stood her up twice and was outrageous enough to get her to skip her meal just to cope with his spontaneous timing. And she was already here and he dared not to come. That rude bastard.

"Are you talking about me? I'm so sorry I let you wait but I had urgent matters to attend. You know I'm a busy man and there is not only you who wants me to sponsor them." George Henning, a man in his end of his twenties stood tall and slender at the door frame and grinned at her shamelessly.

She realized that she had actually spoken the words she was thinking.

Now that the cat is already out of the bag why not just go all out.

Eira stared intently at George Henning and spoke up: "Mr. Henning. If you can't make it to a meeting then there is still a phone you could use to tell me. Or you could write a mail. Or even a fax. Or you could ask someone to come and tell me. And now you just spontaneously decided to come by and make me skip my breakfast and then you dared to let me wait again. You want me to suck up to you and let you trample all over me just because you have the big money? NOT WITH ME! If you don't want to sponsor then fine, leave."

"Hahaha Miss Morgan why so feisty today. Can't you see that I am here now. That means I want to work with you. Don't be so impatient. My schedule is just very packed and there are by far more important meetings than this. I especially made some room for you today." George Henning flauntedly walked closer.

"Wow I am so grateful you made some time for this little company that... just has over 30% stock rates of the food industry in this country. Maybe you should invest in a more important company then mine." Eira countered sarcastically. She didn't care what would happen after today. This man was just too much.

"Alright as you wish. Then this meeting ends here. I'll see you around." Mr. Henning unexpectedly took her sarcasm literal and turned around and walked off, leaving a baffled Eira Morgan back.

At the one hand she was happy she got rid of this eyesore but on the other hand a inner voice told her that it was a mistake. George Henning was one of the most powerful man in the country. Brilliant in his own way and every project even big or small all turn out as a success.

This project was a dream of her and her father and she couldn't let it fail. She now had to look for another sponsor.

Still thinking about what to do, a message arrived on her phone. She opened it and saw that John Johnson had texted her:

I have lunch break at 3. Let's meet up and eat together. Don't worry it's just as friends.

Eira sighed. She didn't want to go eat with anyone but had no reason to reject John. Well then she could vent her anger out on him who cares.

Like promised she went to meet John at her break and they both went to a restaurant near her office.

"How was your day Eira?" John asked her.

She paused for a while not knowing where to start.

He misunderstood her silence and immediately spoke up.

"Oh I thought we could consider each other friends so I automatically called your name. If you don't want that I change it back."

Eira heard that and immediately reclined.

"Oh no no don't worry. Just call me that. It's more comfortable for me. I was just wondering where to start."

"Did you had a hard day?"

"Well it was more than that. It was outraging." And Eira continued to tell John all about what happened with George Henning and how he dared to challenge her patience.

After listening intently John also thought that it was very rude of Mr. Henning to let a lady wait for someone twice.

"I always thought that Henning was a gentleman. He has good upbringings. I can't understand why he treated you so poorly. I as a man am ashamed for him."

"See! How could he do that to me? I just don't get it. And now I am afraid the board directors might give me a hard time looking for a new sponsor."

"Don't pressure yourself. There is always a way to solve your problems. And you have me. I am your friend now. There is nothing I can't do."

"Sigh it is already a long day and I have a lot to do. I don't wanna talk about that despicable man anymore. It tires me out."

"Alright let's not talk about him anymore. What about this Eira? I know someone who could be your new sponsor."

It immediately picked Eira's interested and she looked at John expectantly.

"Who?"

"Well... you need someone who has money and influence. One of the few people besides George Henning who have that... well that's me." He pointed at himself and grinned at her.

"... No. I can't do that."

"Of course you can. I'm the perfect candidate and there are only a few people who can help you with this big scale project. Let me help you."

"But John I can't accept this. That's like you giving me another diamond bracelet."

"Don't worry it's not like that. I am seriously interested in your project and want to make it come true."

"Then what is your condition? Everyone has a condition agreeing to such a deal." Eira suspiciously eyed John. Who knows if he would trap her and ask her again to be his girlfriend.

John laughed.

"It's not like you think but if it lessens your worry let's make a real deal. I'll be your sponsor when you attend the next charity gala with me. You have to stay from start to finish. You are not allowed to go home after just an hour. Deal?"

Eira weighed down the pro and cons seriously in her head before giving her answer.

"... alright. I agree."

"Wonderful then it's a deal. Don't step out of it." John smiled happily.

If Eira knew what was going to happen at the gala. She wouldn't have agreed.

If she only knew.
