Chapter 1 - Nathan

I wake up, the sun blinding my room.

I turn and look at my clock - 11:00 AM. I contemplate going to school or not, the place of my boredom; school a place where one can go unnoticed and noticed for the right or wrong reasons. I should stop overreacting. I'm already late as is.

I pull my t-shirt over my head, and. It doesn't smell as bad as I thought. I obviously have better clothes, but I just don't care, these people aren't going to matter after I graduate anyways.

How did my life end up in such a place? I walk down the empty steps of the butterfly staircase.

"Mr. Jackson, good morning, how are you?"

"I'm fine Carla."

She must notice how tired I am and doesn't pester me as usual. I drive myself to school not bothering to wait for the chauffeur. He can have the day off not that he does much in general. I choose my Lamborghini Taurus even though it's raining. It is a car, after all, they can get washed, but other people would disagree.

I walk to the main office

"late again Nathan."

A stern Mrs. Lewis faces me,

"What's up Mrs. Lewis"

She chuckles as she rolls her eyes, Mrs. Lewis is one of the few people I like at this school. As I walk down the halls, looks of pity and idolization follow me. Nathan Jackson, the bastard son of Jamaine Jackson.

My brother Joseph joins me since it's time for b-lunch, the one lunch I have with all my friends.

"You're late again." He sends a disapproving look my way.

"Hey, at least I came," to which he smiles.

Jessica and Aaliyah join us, Jessica is my sister; Joseph's twin. I don't know what I would do without her, without both honestly. Aaliyah on the other hand is a self-righteous demon bewitched from hell. We will never get along; I hate her and she hates me - although we will always be there for each other.

"Dale," I turn and look at Andrés as he approaches us. to this day I don't know how he still ended up with someone as insufferable as Aaliyah.

"You should've at least brought food you idiot, now we have to go out and get food,"

I roll my eyes at Andrés like seriously he can eat a whole elephant and gain a pound while I, on the other hand, cannot, it took time for a body like this. I cringe remembering how I used to be.

"where to" I mumble uninterestedly.

"I don't know where, why don't you pick Jessica, by the way, is Julissa joining us she just texted me"

I turn my head a little and look at Joseph, Julissa what would she want? "Joseph, are you blushing?" Jessica snickers.

"Of course he is," I reply rolling my eyes. "Julissa is his one true love," I say while making kissy faces.

He doesn't talk, he knows if he talks, we will attack him and use every word against him. I sigh, I wish every day could be like this. Keywords, I wish.

I'm sleeping in pre-calc as I'm shaken awake

"What," I mutter sleepily.

No response.

I go back to sleep then I'm shaken more roughly this time. I groan and open my eyes and see big hazel eyes looking at me.

"Who are you?"

"Look," she sighs and then proceeds to take a breath.

"I'm the new transfer student I've been here, for two weeks and already, Mr. Coughlin told me to assist you in class as his words are, 'he is doing quite poorly.'"

Shit.

My eyes go wide, like saucers as she says this. I frown. "No way."

"Yes, way."

"No way am I having a fucking tutor."

She sighs again, obviously annoyed-Well my bad. "Oh, I forgot to mention Mr. Coughlin said if you don't cooperate, he will contact your father." She's got me there, "fine."

And then she starts walking away! Is she freaking serious, isn't she supposed to help me or something? "Uhh, aren't you supposed to tutor me or something," She looks at me grimly before she replies, "tomorrow lunch, meet you there, or not - I could care less."

She mumbles to herself as she starts walking away again, I realize something.

"Wait what's your name?!"
