19 Waiting

"Who was that old lady?" Rose asked while laying on his arms. She was a little curious why Mike need to bow down to that lady.

"Her name is Jenny. She is nearly twenty-thousand years old. She was the wife of our ancestor. We don't know why her lifespan is so long. But, there is a rumor that she has the heart of Golden Scaled Dragon." Alan spoke with a serious expression.

"What? I thought Golden Scale Dragons were just myths." Rose has heard about the dragons since they are the most famous race in the world. Dragons normally don't care about the world. But, when they do, they only bring endless destruction.

The most fierce dragon would be Fire Dragon. There are other dragons like Wind Dragon, Water Dragon, Earth Dragon, Wood Dragon, and even Blood Dragon. These dragons are known for their cruelty. But, dragons normally reside in the mountain continent which is isolated from most other continents.

Each dragon can be represented by its scale. Golden Scale is just a myth because nobody has seen it. At least, not in ten thousand years.

"Don't forget she has lived for twenty thousand years. So, she might have one." Alan shook his head and truly stuck with his belief. At least, Rose wanted to deny that but seeing his stubborn look, she gave up.

She stayed silent for half an hour. But, she couldn't hold silent for a long time. Her eyes twitched a lot as she spoke "Just how long? I am hungry."

Rose was really hungry. She hasn't eaten breakfast or lunch. And, it was already evening. She didn't know just how long she had to wait.

"We will arrive soon." Alan sighed and consoled her. He didn't have much of a choice. He had to follow these customs. After another ten minutes, they finally reached the front of the big palace. Rose's eyes widen when she saw the number of stairs.

"Do we have to live there?" Rose asked while pointing at the building on the top of the hill.

"No! That's just a temple to complete our ceremony. Great Elder is waiting for us. So, let's go!" Alan shook his head and continued on his journey.

This path was long and harder as well. While laying on his arms, Rose asked "Aren't you tired?"

"This is nothing. If you want, I could even fly to the moon with you in my arms." Alan smiled as he tried to make a great line. Hearing his words, Rose fiercely blushed and buried her head in his arms.

"Can we travel the world together?" After a long silence, Rose suddenly asked startling him.

"As a king, I would say no." Alan shook his head and denied. His words made her bit lips as her eyes sulked. She felt quite betrayed by his denial. But, Alan continued "But, as a husband, I can try to make time out of my busy schedule."

His answer instantly rose her mood.

Smooch!

"Thank you! Thank you! Thank you very much!" She raised her head and kissed his cheeks and shouted out while clutching her arms around his neck.

"You know, you could start calling me husband or Alan. Your sentences sound a little weird and half-baked." Alan slightly smiled while hiding his shyness. But, he frowned when thanked him. It felt like she was stopping herself from calling him by the title or name.

And, Alan didn't want that. He wanted her to call him husband. Though, it would be a little embarrassing for both of them. So, he even suggested his name.

"Alright!" Rose blushed once again and dodged his gaze as she muttered. Alan smiled and continued walking on the stairs. He needed to walk for another hour. This time Rose didn't complain. Seeing Alan walking through those stairs made her hungry fade away.

Though she knew as much of a foodie she was, hunger would return very soon. She silently focused on her skills. She still had to upgrade those skills. Since she could only upgrade one skill twice or once for both. She had to think hard.

After a lot of thinking, she decided to upgrade her cooking twice. There were two main reasons behind her choice. First, this would give her knowledge and skill to cook food even more delicious. This way she could force Alan to eat more rather than focusing on training alone.

She understood why he was so inclined towards training than food. If the food was only an excuse for energy to run his body, he didn't have to waste more time on it. But, if the food became an excuse for him to live, then he could really let his training aside just for food.

This was the mentality she has. She lived for food. She knows all that hard work we do for a living is for eating. Because we eat, we live. This is why she harshly critic that cook. He did what she hates most.

When a person cooks something, he must bear the responsibility for the deliciousness of his food. That's the cook's mentality. And, only then he can cook every meal as his best meal. Eating is a blessing. And, those who call themselves cook but can't make food delicious are worthless trash in her eyes.

She really hates the people like them. This was her first reason. She knows she must improve her cooking skills. It could be deliciousness. It could be saving nutrition. It could be being time-efficient. There are several ways for a cook to improve himself.

And, just making food is one of the ways. She knew she was taking a shortcut but she wasn't sure how it will help her. She was just relying on the stroke of luck.

The second reason why she put both upgrade chances in cooking was that she didn't want to become a master at the knife. She needs to spend more time with him. And, Knife training was one of the best ways. At least, until they get romantically together, it is the only way to be together.

And, she could only wait until then. Wait for his confession. At the same time, Alan was doing the same. He was waiting for her confession.
