3 The Last Earthling

The room was deadly silent, no one could speak, they were too focused on the fight to ignore it for some speeches. Akin looked around to see everyone frozen, they couldn't risk to loose any scene of the struggle, and soon he did the same.

With a Harai Goshi, Avey knocked Vantner to the ground, making her stay out of the ring marked with small white ribbons around it.

She had won.

No one could believe it. Not even Avey-Anna herself. Vantner was still lying on the ground, processing her defeat. She was trained since a young age with the elders Radorians to accept a defeat. But she couldn't. She was furious with herself. She coud have won.

But she didn't.

Everyone praised Avey for her excellent performance, with Captain Sonomott making the highest ones, since no one expected the Duronnis to win. Akin had even seen Veiggo betting with Partia on Vantner's victory. The Hal'nevv had lost all his Foundation credits on the bet, almost one thousand, making Partia more rich than she was before.

Akin wanted to talk with Vantner, he wanted to say that she did a great job at the ring, but the girl was too angry with herself to talk to anyone, including her friend.

The captain had already told her that she shouldn't be angry about loosing, but should learn from her losses. She would keep that in mind and talk with Akin later.

"Galeg Jipriani, Akin Damijo, you're next." Captain Sonomott said echoing through the whole training room.

The two walked to the ring, taking off their jackets, leaving only a white and black tank top. Both had an enviable physical, with their muscles jumping with adrenaline running through their bodies. Akin felt the eyes of his female colleagues looking at him and, for a moment, even blushed.

The Athorian was smiling. He was laughing at Akin's face and the boy knew why. And he suddenly was full of anger. He remembered all the chaos Athor caused to the galaxy. To his home and family. Earth was destroyed after an attack with a new weapon developed by them under the foundation's nose.

The boy was only five years old when he watched from far away in space, while aboard of a little ship launched by his parents, Earth's destruction. The Great Disaster.

And still, they walked away like nothing had happened. The Galactic Foundation accepted them back with open arms, invalidating almost all their crimes.

Cowards. All of them.

Akin was known among everybody in the ship, that's right. He was the last earthling. The last human from Earth. He was the last hope any human, from any colony at the galaxy had. People believed he was the key to stop the Catoq wars. And right now, he was going to f*ck Galeg's face with his bare hands.

Preparing himself to launch a punch at his opponent, Akin fell to the floor, hurting his back and letting out a grunt. Not just him, but Galeg and everyone else. They were all on the ground while the ship was shaking non-stop. Then a loud noise came from outside, trembling the ship one more time, maintaining the people at the training room stuck on the floor. Akin realized it was the same sound as a Garannum cannon, capable of destroying entire little ships with one blast. For their luck, The Hawk Windy was bigger than three little ships and two medium ones combined.

"Everybody, calm yourselves down!" Captain Sonomott said with a notable trembling on his voice.

"Was that a blaster cannon?!" Veiggo asked apprehensively. Akin wasn't the only to recognize the cannon sound.

"I think it was." Ybrell answered not so sure.

"Sir," Partia said directly with Captain Sonomott. "We're in the Pamini sector, there should be no pirates in the area. I thought they said the sector was clear."

"And it is." Captain Sonomott answered.

Akin ran to the window, looking out the window for the second time that day. Not because he wanted to see the billions of stars again or think about his planet, he wanted to see who was attacking them.

The bodies of the former soldiers they passed through before reaching the training room were floating in space. No one survived, they were defenseless.

And then, Akin frowned.

He recognized the type of the ship being a Golden IV from the 10th series, but most important, he recognized its logo and owner .

"Sir," Akin said. "I think I know who's attacking us." The captain looked confused and lost, and reluctantly asked. "Who?"

"Sir," Akin said freezing for a mere moment.

"It's the Galactic Foundation."
