After returning from their harrowing experience, Mei, the fool, had wanted to unearth a secret wish-granting mechanism that was rumored to be buried beneath the castle. And Ryusei, being the naive imbecile that he was, had aided her on her stupid conquest for romance.

He'd been blindsided at the time, having just returned from the devastating conquest in the demon realm. After the stifling defeat and believing to have lost his mentor, Ryusei had been wrestling with some form of existential crisis.

Was this world real or not?

If he were to die would he wake back up in boring old Japan? Would he have to go back to high school after a failed modeling career? 

These thoughts caused him endless anxiety.
