1 Chapter One

Lisa's POV

I thought I wouldn't wake up early that morning, the previous day had been so hectic for me that I slept late.

I slowly yawned and got off the bed with a smile. Looking out through the window, I noticed people were already walking on the streets, it wouldn't take much time before the whole streets would be filled with people and it would make me slow in my search for a job.

I ran a comb through my hair and looked at myself in the mirror, Was I beautiful and unlucky? I chuckled at that thought.

Quickly, I undressed and entered the bathroom, at first the water seemed cold but as it touched my body, it became warm. I wasn't thinking straight, it has been five damn weeks on the streets looking for a job.

I came out of the bathroom with a smile, picking up my towel from the bed, I cleaned my body and wore a pant.

"When will I change this damn pant?" I asked myself in frustration.

"Ella." I heard my mom yell my name and it could only mean trouble.

"Mom, I'll be downstairs soon." I shouted hoping she would hear and yes, she did hear but I didn't get the reply I expected from her.

"You lazy hag. Get down here quickly, the streets will be filled with people soon and you'll be late like yesterday." She shouted and I kept mute.

I just couldn't reply, I wore a white shirt and a blue jacket. I removed the jeans from my old but neat wardrobe and wore it.

I opened the door of my room and climbed down the stairs, dad smiled at me and I smiled back at him. "Good morning dad."I greeted with a smile.

"Ohh sweetheart, Good morning." He returned the greeting as he urged me to join him at the dinning table. I walked to the dinning and sat down.

Mom came out of the kitchen and served my food without a smile, obviously, she was not in a good mood and it didn't occur to me that I had not greeted her until she muttered a prayer after sitting down next to dad.

"Dear God, we appreciate you for this food and also Lord, May Lisa's future kids never eat at the dinning table without greeting her." She prayed and I winced.

Nobody said 'Amen' but she didn't care, she munched her food quietly.

"Good morning mother." I greeted.

"I thought you weren't going to greet me, your behavior sometimes is funny, once you're behaving like a good child, the next day, I'm wondering if I truly gave birth to you." She said and I frowned.

"Don't say so." Dad told her as she dipped her bread in her cup of tea and looked at him.

"But she behaves like a kid. She needs to know." Mom replied and drank her tea hurriedly.

I had certainly lost my appetite but it would be damn rude if I just left the table, I just ate silently as Dad stood up after eating and put on the TV.

I stole glances at the television to read the news. "Ella." Mom called out looking at me with a stern face.

"Yes mom."

"Eat your food, it will get cold." She added and I nodded.

Just then, a handsome young man appeared on the television.

"Wow, he is cute." Mom muttered and my eyes widened. Dad looked at her in shock and one could have thought that she was cheating on my dad if not that she loved him.

"Mom" I called out shocked.

"What's bad in what I said, he's looking handsome and sexy, what's bad if I say he's cute besides I'm a married woman with two children, you and Jason." She reminded and I chuckled.

"Many of you are actually wondering why I sacked fifty workers in my company." The man on the television screen said and my eyes widened.

"Fifty?" Dad asked shocked.

"Maybe I heard five or just maybe he made a mistake". I answered with a smile.

"Isn't this Alex Taylor? Isn't he the owner of Taylor's corporate industries?." Dad asked.

"Of course". Mom answered.

"But shouldn't he be considerate, how can he sack a fifty workers at the same time, that's bad." Dad said angrily.

"I can never work in that organization, I will be afraid that I might not be useful to him again and he'll sack me."

"I don't have reasons for sacking them, it's my company and whoever wants to know my reason should seek answers from hell". Mr Alex said on TV and I winced.

"He's so arrogant." I muttered.

"What does he think he has?" Mom asked and I chuckled.

"He has a company, he's quite a handsome young billionaire and his company is the perfect place that I can work to get famous quickly." I said and Mom looked at me surprised.

"How?" She asked.

"He is into event planning and fashion designing, he was given the contract of planning the wedding of the president's daughter." I answered and mom grinned excitedly.

"That's really something he should boast of, I can now see why he is arrogant."

"I'm recruiting new staffs and I only need three, if you want to work in my organization, you don't need to fill any form, just come to my organization today." Mr Alex said on TV.

Mom and Dad looked at me with a smile.

I raised an eyebrow in surprise. "Why y'all looking at me smiling?" I asked in confusion.

"You should go to his organization and become his worker, he's really intelligent." Mom answered.

"And why should I do that?." I asked with a quizzed expression.

"With your beautiful face and talent, I'm sure he'll take you, have you forgotten what happened when you were still little, you brought up an idea for your aunt's wedding and she used your idea, it was splendid." Dad answered and I blushed.

"It's been long and I was a kid then, I can't really remember."

"I think you should go for this interview, I'm sure he will pick you, I'm sure, you're pretty." Mom said and I folded my hands.

"Mom, what does being pretty have to do with working in his company?" I asked.

"God didn't endow you with beauty only for it to be wasted." She reminded me and I nodded as I stood up. I yawned again and picked my bag from the chair.

"Ok, I'll be going to his organization, I'll make sure I don't flare up if he's rude to me because I hate arrogant people." I replied and mom nodded. I came out of the house and greeted our next door neighbor.

"Morning, Mr Douglas."

The old man smiled at me and waved his hand. "Morning, cute damsel." I heard him yell from his garden.

As I walked on the streets, people were pushing each other just to get to their various offices early.

Car owners hardly used the street because of the phobia of accidents, three people met their deaths in that street in just one week. They were knocked over by different cars.

They died while being rushed to the hospital and I dreaded the Macbeth street. Well, it didn't take time because I was pushed too and I fell to the ground. Standing up quickly, I pushed another person. The people seemed to find it hilarious and comfortable to push other people but I didn't find it funny.

I took a bike to his organization after I successfully reached the junction.
