5 CHAPTER TWO

New Opportunities

We had so much fun with Erin although Deb would never admit it. The girl had serious trust issues,so do I but hers was an head case. I wouldn't blame her for it though. Her family is a mess. Story for another day,I thought.

As I flipped the omelette,Deb walked in and picked an apple from the island. She threw it up before taking a bite when she caught it.

"Morning bitchy"

"Morning too. Coffee for two?" I asked as I took out the omelette and moved to blend some beans for coffee.

"Yeah. Black as usual,ma'am" I laughed.

"This isn't a restaurant,Miss Gaskell"

"How was your night?" We sat on chairs facing the island to eat.

"Great. Yours?"

"Had a dream about mermaids" She sighed dramatically. "Turned out I was the queen"

"You're worse than me" We laughed. Deb dealt with the bacon while I focused on the omelette. I loved eggs. Yummy mummy! "No class today"

"Yeah. We've been so free lately. Well,lets go grocery shopping and do yoga at night before sleeping" It wasn't a question but still,she responded.

"Cool" I agreed. "Lets follow up that new book series at noon."

"After?"

"Yeah,that one"

"Its a movie,dummy"

"I meant the book,bitchy. We'll binge read at one of them platforms together" She muttered an oh as my phone beeped. It was Erin.

"Who's that?"

"Our friend. She said she's close to our apartment and asked if we would like her company."

"You mean your friend? Man,I don't like that girl a bit! She'll recover though"

"Recover?"

"From you telling her 'we don't need company' of course" She said as she finished the rest of her coffee.

"Just texted her 'alright'"

"What!? Tell her we have plans now,please." The bell rang. "Bitch must've been in the fucking elevator! I'll be in my room" And she left angrily.

I opened the door to a smiling Erin and two bags. She was dressed in blue today. A simple blue dress.

"Hey" We hugged "Come in"

"Where's Deb? I bought something for her" She said looking around the living room.

"What's that?" I tried peeking but she tightly zipped the big bag closed and kept it on the couch beside her.

"That one's yours." She pointed to the smaller one.

"And it's?"

"It's in front of you. Why don't you check?" I opened the bag to see a red dress. It was a turtleneck long sleeved dress. It was short and chic.

"Wow,thanks Erin. It's lovely"

"I knew you would like it! It would go very well with your eyes. Have I told you how much I would pay to get your eyes?"

"This is the fourth time now" We shared a laugh. "Thanks Erin. Twas thoughtful of you. And what'd you get for Deb?"

"Something to win her heart with,of course. I could tell she didn't really like me so I got her something she pointed at the park last time" She said with a wink and I closed my mouth in a gasp.

I knocked on Deb's door thrice before she responded.

"Go away,Gina"

"No,I'm won't" She didn't reply. "Hey"

"What's it?" The door wasn't still opened.

"Erin's here"

"And what do I do? Shout it to the world?"

"She bought you something" I sing sang. I heard a snort followed by a huge scoff.

"She can't buy me. Tell her to fuck off" She sounded mad,not for long though.

"She got Bells". The door clicked open immediately and someone stepped out with a huge grin.

Deb got Bells. Bells was a huge stuffed cow she had wanted since September this year. She had stared at it continually and pointed it to me the hundredth time at the park.

Erin would make a good businesswoman because Debbie melted immediately.

We watched three romcoms in a row after ordering pizza. After that,we all went grocery shopping. At the mall,we discussed random things. When we got home,we discussed about our dreams while working together on Deb's project. She was taking an extra course. It was the one class we didn't share with her.

Erin left by 9 o'clock. Deb and I were on yoga when my ringtone disrupted the peace we had created.

"Hey" My earphone was stuck in my ears. I sat cross legged.

"You can't believe what just happened Gina! He said yes. I'm so happy. I asked a question,told him your name whilst showing him your pictures and yes rolled outta his mouth! I really am stunned right now. How did you do it? It must be your eyes,I know it!"

"Uhm,I'm lost. Who's he? And why are you happy he said yes at my name?" Deb frowned as she squeezed her glutes.

"You've gotten a job,Gina! Okay,maybe not really a job. It's an internship but you do know what comes next. A fucking job!"

"What!?" I stood on my mat immediately.

"Yes Gina. Remember you said one of your dreams was to get a job before graduating? Well you just did! I'm so happy."

"Wow,Erin. Thanks so much. How'd you do it?"

"I should be asking you that. He usually says no to my friends. I'd give you details tomorrow. You better start planning a celebration."

"Bar and sleepover on Saturday night. Bill's totally on me. I love you,girl!"

"I know,right?" She ended the call and I screamed with excitement.

"Okay,I'm so confused right now." Deb's frown was deep,I was almost tempted to take a picture.

I told her everything and her frowned upturned.

"I told you she was worth being friends with" I rolled my eyes at her ironic statement. It had taken her three days to fully like Erin! I scoffed. I didn't spoil the mood though. I only nodded at her and smiled throughout yoga.

Little did I know,I was about to face the devil.
