15 CHAPTER TWELVE

A Date With The CEO I

Theme Song : Too Hot by Jason Derulo

A nights out with the girls was totally needed. After sharing stories of our shattering pasts,we cried our eyes out over ice cream and sad songs. I hadn't been able to tell Erin everything. Deb understood because she wasn't aware of most things but had been with me for nineteen years now. The one thing we had in common was boys. We had all been played one say or the other. We did karaoke style of singing and just as screaming helped clear my anger,I felt free from all the shouts. I felt alive.

It was a Wednesday now. My day off from work. I was supposed to be in class but my body said no.

Skipping a day wouldn't hurt and besides, sleeping is one activity I did perfectly. Without much persuasion,I fell on the bed.

I was in a huge empty building. It was poorly lit in here and there was no window or door. I looked around and something caught my eyes. A ball. I had always loved playing with balls so I ran for it,giggling like a child. Immediately I picked the ball, the floor became a quicksand.

"Help. Someone help me!" I screamed. "Help!"

He grabbed my hand. He always does that. This time when I turned,it wasn't Nolan. His face was replaced with Chase's own. Chase smiled at me without flashing his white teeth.

"Come on,get me out of here."

He rose a brow. "You alone can free yourself,Worth. But why don't you let me melt your ice just like daddy." A drum I couldn't see started beating on its own. With that,he let me go and began cackling evily. I screamed as I drowned in the quicksand.

I woke up with a start. There was a knock on my head and I groaned. The knock came again but this time from the front door. I made my way out of my bedroom to the door.

"Why didn't you use your keys?" I complained as I opened the door. Instead of finding Deb there with a flimsy excuse of being too tired to search her bag for her keys,Chase stood in front of my apartment grinning.

"You never gave me one." He replied. I involuntarily took a step back and he took it as a cue to enter. He locked the door behind him and walked into the living room like he owned it.

"Do feel at home." I welcomed him sarcastically. His face upturned into a frown as he felt my couch. He placed his hanky on it before sitting on it. The arsehole.

"This is anything but home." He muttered looking around.

"Excuse you?"

"Like how do you manage living here. Sure its clean but still" He finished his statement with a shudder.

"Mr Hilton,do feel free to make use of the door if you get tired. I can't stand here and entertain your cockiness."

"Do you want me to get you a house?" I gasped and he tilted his head with a proud smile. "Maybe a nice little condo in a real estate?"

"You arsehole. You ditched work to come make fun of my apartment!?" He relaxed on the couch.

"First off,I don't ditch work when I'm the boss. And I wasn't making fun of your" He looked around as though debating whether to call it an apartment or not. I could hardly believe his nerves

"Get out." I said in a cool tone.

"I'm sorry okay." He raised his hands in a sign of surrender. "Go out with me."

"What?" I asked in shock.

"Go out with me,please?" He rephrased. What kind of a bipolar person was he for goodness sake? One minute criticising my shelter and the next asking me out on a date. "Oh,Regina. It's a business meeting not a date." I eyed him as he burst into a fit of laughter. It sounded so good coming out from those lips. Okay, that nightmare really did something to my brains.

"Don't flatter yourself. I was trying to gauge your reaction when I say no."

"Get dressed,mi cherrie."

"Its my day off." I argued.

"You couldn't go to class right?" How did he even find out? "Get dressed. You're my assistant and I need you now. That's what I pay you for." And I can't say no.

"Urgh. How long are we gonna take?" I asked with a frown.

"Four to five hours?" I sighed and walked back to my bedroom. "Wear something simple." He shouted after me.

The loud bass, the colourful dancing lights, the smell of sweaty bodies, the screams and yells did no justice to my building headache. Chase seemed to notice my discomfort because he placed a hand on a small part of my back soothingly. Is it just me or was he acting so sweet today? His hand behind me felt like it belonged there though,so I couldn't push him off.

"I had a bad dream and you were in it. This surpasses every form of nightmare." He laughed before stopping abruptly.

"You dreamt of me?"

"You're missing the point here,CEO Hilton. Why bring me to a club!?"

"We're here for business, okay. But you dreamt of me" He smirked at me and I let him have this one. A bouncer approached and grunted a greeting to Chase and I whilst directing us to a private room in the loud club filled with different bodies. Who goes to the club in the freaking afternoon?

Our,or rather,Chase's acquaintance was waiting for us at the room. He stood up immediately and shook hands with Chase. "Mr Hilton!" The man's eyes shone with delight and respect. I felt proud walking beside him even though it's just as an assistant.

"Hello to you too,Mr Oscar." Chase took a seat before the man and I did.

"I want to wrap this up as quick as possible. So what's the deal?" He drove the nail on its head and the man,Mr Oscar quickly brought out a folder.

"Allow me order something first. What would you want,Mr Hilton?"

"No liquid during this meeting." Mr Oscar nodded his head so fast I feared for his neck.

I was Chase's assistant but to be honest,he didn't really need me. He does almost everything on his own and this meeting turned out to be one of those. Mr Oscar was selling his company to Chase although the name would still be Mr Oscar's. Mr Oscar was going bankrupt and thus this was his logical way of saving his company.

I typed away on my phone as they talked business and stocks. Mr Oscar kept piling up the table with fat files.

It was almost 6 pm when Chase ended the meeting with Mr Oscar leaving cheerfully.

"You brought me here for nothing" I sobbed, dramatically placing my palm over my face.

"Drama queen." He remarked as the bouncer from before walked into the private room. Chase pointed at the stack of files on the table and placed his car keys on a file. The man grunted a reply before packing everything on the table. I gaped at Chase.

"Okay, that's so unprofessional." I reprimanded immediately the huge guy left.

"Gio would know better than to mess around with my work materials."

"Still unprofessional. We were leaving anyways so I wouldn't carried the files. I'm not a lazy person."

"Says the 'assistant' skyping on a business date."

"Hey,I was bored. Still am." I defended.

"Lets party then." He offered and I stared at him like he had grown two heads. "What's wrong?"

"This is a club!” I exclaimed the obvious and he stifled a laugh.

"I know, little miss uptight. You can get to strike it off your wish list." He shrugged. I had a feeling he brought me here to fulfill the wish and not for the meeting.

I contemplated. Killing two birds with one stone,eh? Beside,I doubt entering a club on my own would ever happen. Win-win.

"This isn't a date though. Its unprofessional." He smirked.

"Whatever makes you sleep." He sounded like Deb. But wait, what?

This was a date. Oh yeah.
