2 Blue Fire School

The train eventually stopped, the journey had taken nearly a week and enrollment was about to begin. Cain got off the train and noticed the entire city was filled to the brim with energy and excitement. The city was stuffed with travellers who had come from vast distances to take part in this event. Cain managed to squeeze his way through the crowd and headed towards the heart of the city, where the Blue Fire School was located.

"I heard some of the most talented youngsters are coming out this time, that young man from the King clan is also heading here, they say he was born with fire meridians so the Blue Fire School will definitely take him in as one of their elites"

"Who cares about that King kid? Haven't you heard that one of the elders of the Blue Fire School has a granddaughter with a Fire Spirit Body, a body like that makes fire meridians look like nothing, and it's said that she decided to partake in this event to prove that even without her grandfather she would still be one of the greatest in the Blue Fire School."

Cain eventually managed to reach the center of the city. He saw multiple booths set up with lines that stretched quite a distance. Cain joined the line, and after a few hours it was finally his turn. The young man in charge of the booth asked him a few questions such as name and age before Cain received an ID badge.

"Due to the massive amounts of enrollers this season around, the exam will take place in our virtual reality arena. The last 50 survivors will be accepted into the Blue Fire School. Good luck everyone!"

Cain got his ID scanned and suddenly he felt his vision go black, when the world came back to him, he realized he was in the middle of a forest. This was a comprehensive test, it didn't only test strength, but also speed, survivability, and many other skills. One should realize that in the world of cultivation it isn't always the strongest one that survives, in fact it's usually the one who knows when to push forward, and when to back off.

Cain's senses were extremely sharp, and suddenly he felt the air shake a little, he quickly shifted his head towards the side, an arrow flashed past his head, missing by only a few inches. Cain's eyes focused as he looked up towards a tree branch, he noticed a young man who proceeded to charge at him seeing that his sneak attack failed.

Cain realized that plenty of the people he was facing had already cultivated in the past, which put him at a steep disadvantage. Considering the speed and strength of the young man in front of him, he should be at the second layer of the Earth Realm. Cain naturally wasn't a human, so despite the fact that he's never cultivated before, you simply couldn't compare his strength to a regular person.

The young man rocketed through the air as he pulled out a dagger, the glint of the blade flashed as it headed towards Cain's head. Cain had no weapons on him, but hundreds of years of being trapped in that realm made him much more astute than others. He rolled to the side as the young man crashed into the earth.

The dagger wielding youth proceeded to slash at Cain repeatedly, one could see that he wasn't a complete amateur, and had some skill with a dagger. Unfortunately for him he wasn't facing a regular person, one should realize that beasts were born with extremely sharp instincts, one didn't need to train a lion to be vicious, it was in its nature. Cain was the same, he was like a wild animal, and he simply never had a chance to show his fangs in the past.

Seeing an opening, Cain elbowed the man in the face, while he was still delirious from the blow, Cain quickly delivered a lethal hit, killing him completely. Cain suddenly felt some energy from the young man seep into him, he noticed that each kill would reap Cain some Qi which would allow him to further increase his realm. This energy was pure, and much better than the regular stuff you would find in the outside world. Only sects would have access to such quality Qi.

Cain sat down and breathed deeply as he cultivated, his ancestral memories showed him 3 realms, beyond that was unknown. The three realms he was aware of were the Earth Realm, Sky Realm, and Deity Realm. Suddenly he felt something shatter, the energy of the world rushed into his body and gave him a euphoric feeling, he went from a mortal to a first layer Earth Realm cultivator.

Cain stretched his body as he felt the power fill him to the brim, he felt like he was previously a starving man and he had only just now had a filling meal. Everything about him went underwent a change, his senses, strength, speed, it all improved and he was currently a few times stronger than before. Cain smirked in satisfaction, he flashed through the forest looking for someone else to kill.

The more Cain hunted and killed, the more he felt himself improve, and the more he improved the easier each kill became. First it was 3 kills, then 6, then 10, soon Cain forgot how many people he killed, fortunately for him, he had yet to stumble into someone beyond the 3rd layer. That wasn't someone the current Cain could face.

Cain's realm further improved to the third layer after his 50th kill, each layer took much more energy than the one before it, but the difference in strength was also much greater. Cain soon realized he had been in this virtual reality arena for a few hours, the event should be nearing an end. What Cain was unaware of was that the entire event was broadcasted throughout the City for people to spectate, and Cain was currently considered a dark horse and had actually managed to reach the top 10 with his kill count.

Suddenly a giant ring echoed across the arena, and the second the sound hit Cain's ears, his vision blacked once more before realizing he was back in Blue Fire City.
