20 recover

"Mark, why-" Jeno feebly asks over the phone, his voice wavering.

"Jen, if you think I'm completely alright with the idea of you taking your life away, then you're wrong. I knew something wasn't right when you started neglecting the things you used to enjoy doing. I thought things were slowly becoming fine for you after such a long time, but I guess I failed to notice how things got worse because of how busy I have become.."

The latter on the other line sighed.

"Your message was so alarming, you wouldn't pick your phone up when I tried calling you that night. I was fortunate enough that your relatives picked the call up when I tried calling them instead."

Jeno fell quiet, his words failing him. And the boy on the other line seemed to have noticed the wall building up between them, so he continued.

"I know things aren't going well. They definitely aren't. I don't know what is going through your head this time, Jeno. But never think of yourself as a burden because of the things that have happened. I don't see you as a burden. And I am certain that your relatives think the same way. Jeno, there's so many people who loves and cares for you and you aren't even aware of it. I witnessed you overcome all of the challenges that were given to you. You don't know, but I've always wanted to be as strong as you are. You would always flash a smile even when you were having a hard time, even when you were on the verge of fainting because of all the things you needed to finish. All those efforts will go to waste if you give up now, Jen."

"I'm not forcing you to do anything. But I want you to take all the time you need to recover and feel better. I want you to be okay. I'm not telling you all of this to burden you or make you feel bad for doing what you have done. I just hope that this will give you a bit of a realization. That you're not alone on this, Jeno. We're here for you. We care."

Having to talk with Mark after everything that happen makes him anxious in a way. He was expecting the boy to leave him in disgust for being the way he is. He was afraid that he would lose his only closest friend by his side, he knew he would have had it coming his way but the boy proved him wrong. Instead, it felt a lot like their bond just became stronger because of what happened.

"I.. I'm sorry. Can we just talk again some other time? I feel tired."

Jeno could barely let those words out of his throat.

"Oh.. Alright. I'll pay you a visit soon. Take care, okay? Get plenty of rest."
