16 october

He wakes up to be blinded by the bright rays of the sun. He groans when he couldn't feel his limbs. He hears a gasp from the side parallel to his bed, followed by footsteps and the sound of the door being opened then closed in a hasty manner. He wanted to see what was going on, but he couldn't even lift himself up.

Loud noises could be heard outside his room, the sound slowly overtaking his once peaceful room.

He sees someone approach the side of his cot from the corners of his eyes.

The person was wearing a white coat, a few pens stuck on the pocket of the said coat.

"Yes, I am reporting from Room 234. Patient from Room 234 is finally awake."

He tried moving his arm, only to wince in pain. He eventually gave up, sighing in defeat.

His gaze wanders. The walls were white, and so was the ceiling. The sheets were white, too.

Everything was painted in white. It isn't their house.

He would've thought he was dead already, but the pain made him aware that he is in fact, alive.

He felt restless. His body feels weak and fragile. A single move causes his body to ache. He wondered why his arm is wrapped in bandages. There was a loud beeping monitor besides him and the sound being emitted from it was deafening.

Fear began to take over him when three other people wearing the same clothes surrounded him.

His throat ran dry, but he managed to form words.

"W-where.. am I?"

He stammers, eyes moving constantly. Neither of the faces were familiar to him and it only scared him more.

"Hmm. You're at the hospital, dear."

He blinks in utter shock.

"W-why? What happened?"

"Please bring his guardian back in."

The nurse ushers. The door slides open and his guardian was led to the side of his cot. He meets their gaze, but it was then broken when the nurse talked to them.

"I will have to return to check on him and see if he needs further tests. Please take things slowly and in consideration. He is still in an unstable condition and something too much for him to handle can shock him."

"I'm so sorry for being reckless.."

He hears her mutter. His brows knitting together in confusion as he stares.

"Aunt? What's going on?"

Jeno feebly asks as the nurses left his room.

His aunt pulls the stool to the side of his cot before sitting down. She delicately caresses Jeno's hand, and the warmth made Jeno calm down his nerves a bit. He notices how red and puffy her aunt's eyes were. How there were dark circles enveloping the lower part of her eyes.

She looked tired.

"Jeno.. You lost consciousness."

Silence filled the air, Jeno stared at his aunt in disbelief. Almost as if what she said was unbelievable. Because it is. Nothing is making sense at all, and it's only confusing Jeno more.

"What do you mean I lost my consciousness?"

His aunt heaves another sigh, her gaze falling anywhere that isn't Jeno.

"You were in a coma for almost two weeks. It would have been longer but we are fortunate that you woke up."

"You're kidding."

"No, Jeno.. It's the 18th of October."
