"I almost forgot how far this building is. Mark should be thankful to have a good person like me around to give his notes back."

Jeno muttered under his breath, lips puckered into a pout as he arrived at the ground floor of the other building, where all the lockers are located, along with the huge bulletin board pinned with all the events and announcements of their school.

He immediately regretted the decision of taking Mark's favor. But it's not like anyone else could do it for the latter since they were the only ones together during lunch, the time Mark left his notes behind by accident.

Jeno glanced around the vicinity and found no sign of his friend at all. The sun was starting to set.

He releases a sigh, slumping back down on the bench when he heard hasty footsteps running down the stairs. He practically perked up and saw Mark running towards his direction after setting foot, the sound of Mark's footsteps resonated through the empty halls.

The sight amused Jeno, and he debated whether his friend would end up tripping or not.

Unfortunately, Mark didn't.

"Jeno! I am so sorry for making you wait. And I'm sorry for asking you to bring my notes for me after class when you could be at home already at this time."

Mark apologizes, his hair tousled and untidy caused by the windy breeze.

The latter shrugged and emitted a low chuckle, "Pfft. I know you, Mark. It's fine, though. It's not like I have to go home soon anyways."

Mark sat down besides Jeno, raising a brow as he reverted his gaze to the raven-haired boy. Meanwhile, Jeno began to rummage through his bag, in search for Mark's notes.

"If that's the case, then why didn't you join Donghyuck when he asked you for a game of basketball today? The clementine asked me if I wanted to take your spot for today's because you told him you're not available. You used to play with them all the time because you said basketball is your favorite, Jen."

"Hey, just because I'm free after class doesn't mean I have the mood to play today." Jeno retorts, looking anywhere but the boy besides him.

"Jeno, Donghyuck asked me thrice in a row. All because of the same reason."

Jeno fell silent, his grip on Mark's notes tightening. He purses his lips into a thin line before diverting his gaze to the latter, pulling the notes out and handing it back. Mark muttered thanks and slip his notes back inside his bag, before continuing after noticing the awkward silence that fell between them.

"Something's bothering you?"

The raven-haired shook his head, flashing a small smile. "No, not that there's anything specific. It doesn't really matter."

"Are you sure? We can spend a bit more time to talk about it if you want." Mark suggests, worry lacing the tone of his voice.

Jeno hummed, "It's fine. I changed my mind. Let's go home. Can you escort me back to my house? I know you're heading down the same street anyways."

"Ah, right. I forgot you live in the same neighborhood."

"Pfft. Mark, you always forget about things." Jeno chortles.
