31 it's you again?

Jeno finished eating the meal his aunt prepared for him. His aunt took the containers after he finished and excused herself. She couldn't stay longer as she had to go somewhere after, and Jeno understood it.

They started to pay more attention and take better care on Jeno after everything that happened. It warms his heart. He wants to think and believe that they truly care and love him, but a part of him still refuses to believe so. Instead, thinking that all of it is just for show and done out of pity. He couldn't blame himself for thinking of such cruel thoughts, though.

"Jeno, you have a visitor today."

His nurse gave him a knowing smile while she checked on Jeno's condition. Jeno snapped out of his thoughts, immediately being pulled back by reality. She came a few minutes after his aunt left the room. He assumed that his aunt told the nurse that she was done and that they may go and check on Jeno now.

"Who?"

Jeno blinks, perking up from his bed and peeking over his nurse's figure to see who was standing by his doorway. There was a figure standing outside the door, but he couldn't quite perceive who it might be.

"It's your friend, I believe."

The nurse answered, turning her back from Jeno to open the door. Jeno's eyes grew wide at the thought of Mark visiting him again. Mark didn't say anything about visiting him today, nor did his aunt told him about Mark planning to pay him a visit.

'Maybe Mark forgot to tell aunt about visiting today.' He thought to himself and nodded at the idea.

Jeno clasped his hands together before putting them on top of his lap. While doing so, the nurse slid the door open, motioning the person from outside to go inside.

"He-"

Jeno's sentence was cut off when he realised who his 'visitor' is.

"Good morning, Jeno."

Jaemin beamed. His gaze met Jeno's momentarily, but the boy looked away first.

Something about Jaemin's gaze makes him feel weird. Frightened, rather. He feels like if he stares too long, he'll be caught in a daze. It wasn't like Jaemin had scary-looking eyes. If anything, Jaemin's eyes look really dear and innocent. But something inside him tells him not to meet its gaze.

"I-I.. Why are you here?"

Jeno stammers, his eyes turning wide as Jaemin took a few steps closer. Before he can even react further, Jaemin was already standing in front of him.

He can hear the brunet hum in a sing-song manner before finally making a response, shoulders shrugging ever so gently.

"Well, I had to leave all of a sudden last time and I felt like it was really rude of me to leave my newly found friend behind. We didn't get enough time to get to know each other more, too. So I thought I'd personally come and visit you. I hope you don't mind though. But if you do, I can leave now."

Jeno fell silent for a short moment. He never thought Jaemin would take their friendship seriously. He thought the time they met at the cafeteria would be the very first and last time he'll see Jaemin. But Jaemin was basically staying at the same hospital. Even if the hospital is huge, it didn't seem too impossible for the both of them to meet again.

"It's okay, I guess.. You can stay. I don't think anyone would be visiting me for the rest of the day, anyways."

Jeno mumbled, barely audible but Jaemin managed to hear everything loud and clear.

"But, don't you have other plans for the day? Like hospital-related things? Some kind of check-up or session, maybe?"

Jeno asks, his voice laced in curiosity. It made Jaemin chuckle.

"Am I being interrogated?"

Jaemin cooed in amusement. Jeno snapped at the realization. It did seem like he was interrogating the brunet. He felt his cheeks heat up in sheer embarrassment.

Jaemin cleared his throat.

"But to answer your questions, no, I don't have any. Or at least I don't, for now. I came here with my doctor and nurse's permission to do so. They moved one of my sessions on some other day because of what happened to me a few days ago."

Jaemin explained, pulling the chair towards the side of Jeno's bed before taking a seat. Jeno looks at him with one of his brows raised.

"Why? What happened a few days ago?"

"Hmm.. I don't mind telling you about it. But I didn't came here to talk about myself, Jeno."

The brunet chuckled shortly after.

"We've been having me as our topic since the day we met. Wouldn't it be nice if I get to know you, too?"

Jeno purses his lips into a thin line, hesitant to talk about himself. He fiddled with the sheets of his bed, his shoulders shrugging smugly.

"I don't feel comfortable talking about myself. And it's not like my life's interesting. If anything, it's far from being one. My life sucks."

"Don't say that. I'm sure your life is just as interesting. It's a whole different story from everyone else. And that applies to all of us. Don't you find it fascinating to thing that we are all authors of our own stories? Where we are the main characters, but at the same time, we are the one writing of what's bound to happen next?"

"Jaemin, what are you trying to tell me?"
