17 ice cream

The playground was filled with children. Laughter and joy filling the air as they play various games together. Where children who don't know each other become playmates for a while, until it's time for one of them to go back home.

He sat down by the nearby bench, a few meters away from the playground. Their parents asked him to fetch his little brother back home, since the couple were busy. He smiles when his brother came running to his direction after waving goodbye to his playmates.

"Brother, what happened to your hand?"

The little boy shrieked, grasping on the taller male's hand and eyeing the red and bleeding knuckles. The taller male gently shook his head, emitting a low chuckle while fixing the little boy's backpack on his shoulder.

"It's nothing serious. Just caught myself in a fight after defending someone."

The pair continued to walk until they reached the parking lot. With the older male unlocking the car and letting the boy hop inside, while he put the bag besides the latter. He gets in and puts the seat belt on the boy, flashing a genuine smile and ruffling his hair, causing the boy to whine in dismay.

"Agh.. You ruined my hair, brother! Now I look ugly."

It made him chuckle. The sight of his little brother pouting with tousled hair. He averts his gaze and started the engine.

"Oh, come on. We're heading back home already. It doesn't matter if your hair is messy. You're still cute."

"But I want some ice cream.. Can we please stop by the ice cream parlour before going home? Cookie dough ice cream!"

The latter chirped as the car began to move. He hums in response.

It's not like he can resist his little brother, after all.

The little boy climbed down the car in excitement. He runs towards the door of the ice cream parlour, leaving his older brother behind. He chuckles as he locks the car, bringing his money along and sauntering towards the steps, gently taking his little brother's hand to his as he pushes the glass door open.

"Brother?"

"Yeah?"

"How did you got into a fight? What happened?"

"Well, I don't think you need to know all the details."

He hums.

"A group of boys were making fun of a boy and they refused to give his stuff back. It was a painful sight to watch. I walked up to them and they picked up a fight before agreeing to give it back."

He smiled at his little brother as he turned to the counter to order. The boy gazed at him in awe.

"You're a saviour. I want to be like you someday, brother!"

"Silly, Jeno."
