28 hang in there

Renjun came back to the hospital, beads of sweat dripping down his temples as he fetched Jaemin from the cafeteria. He saw the boy seated with someone. The two seemed to have a conversation going when Renjun called Jaemin's name. Jaemin bid farewell to the boy before jogging his way towards Renjun. Renjun noticed the way Jaemin's expression changed. How it turned from being happy to gloomy.

"It's so odd. I'm certain it's him, Injun."

The brunet whined as they walked away from the cafeteria, following the signs hanging on the ceilings that will lead them to where Jaemin will be having his therapy. Renjun gave Jaemin a glance. He hummed in a questioning manner, as if telling Jaemin to tell him more. And so, the boy did.

"How come I remember him, but he doesn't remember me? This is so unfair.."

Jaemin muttered under his breath, stopping in his track and leaning his back against the wall.

"Who's him, Nana? Are you talking about the boy you were with before I came?"

Renjun wonders, his brows knitting together as he stopped walking as well.

"I don't even know anymore.. Is my memory messing with me again? God.. I can't even trust myself. What if I forget you and mistaken you for someone else, too?"

Jaemin hitches.

Frustration was an understatement to describe what Jaemin was feeling.

He can't help but wonder if Jeno is indeed the Jeno he was thinking of. The boy's presence felt undeniably familiar and he felt comfortable around him, even when they only met today. Despite being cheerful and friendly, it takes a while for the brunet to completely be comfortable and open with anyone. Yet, Jeno managed to make Jaemin open up to him. He made Jaemin admit his fascination for the world outside, though, Jeno probably didn't take it seriously.

"Hey, calm down.. Take deep breaths. Don't think about it too much, Nana. You won't forget about me. If not, I hope you don't at least.. But hey, you'll be fine, okay? You need to be calm for your therapy.."

Renjun states. His voice laced in worry as he grabs Jaemin by his shoulders. He can feel Jaemin shaking.

"I don't even know why I'm being like this.. Why do I feel so emotional?"

The brunet laughs dryly. His head began to throb. It felt awful. Jaemin whimpered in pain and Renjun began to panic. He couldn't leave his best friend alone. He dread that his friend will faint if he does, but he needs to call for help, too.

"O-oh god.. Someone help us, please!"

Renjun shouts, in hopes of any nearby nurses or hospital staffs to hear his cry for help.

"Nana.. Hang in there, okay? Calm- Jaemin? No! Jaemin, wake up!"
