4 THERE WERE NO SUCH PEOPLE

"What do you mean by how I feel so far? Who exactly are you? Were you some kind of journalists working on my case?" Jax blurted out his thoughts unconsciously.

However, the dark man in front of him didn't answer his question but posted a question of his own instead. "We are asking how you feel about your experiences in this simulated world so far," the dark man repeated his question in the same serious tone.

What was with this man? Talking nonsense out of nowhere!

Jax stepped back in confusion and his back met with the cold wall, indicating he couldn't step back any further.

Seeing the young man's reaction, the dark man narrowed his eyes.

"Now now, stop confusing the young man. You have to first give him some time after explaining your point. Only after, would he be able to understand what you are asking him about," the other man chose this moment to step in and said something even more confusing.

It seemed that these seemingly crazy duo had something to talk to the young man. However, the point was; what was it?

Honestly, Jax's already exhausted mind couldn't keep up with the thoughts of the possible outcomes of meeting these two strange yet seemingly dangerous people in a detention cell.

Finally, Jax found his voice and spoke grimly, "What do you mean by a 'simulated' world?"

The cold man stared at the young man, seemingly contemplating his next words and his next words were definitely not something the latter was expecting.

"Your world, where you are living now, is not real."

Jax didn't know how to respond to his answer. He stood with his back glued to the wall, and stared at the two men in front of him, back and forth in turns.

The dark man said it so casually like he was just commenting on an ordinary headline from the early morning's newspaper and coupled with his serious expression, made it hard for others to doubt his words.

"Whatever memories you've of this world were all a mere creation," added the man again.

Jax lowered his head at his words as he almost found himself believing the latter's words. Yet, when the thought reappeared in his mind, it felt like the most absurd thing he ever heard.

"I don't know who you are, but I have heard enough bullshit for the last few days, so if you are not here to help me, get out of this f*cking place now, you can gladly get out of my sight and take your shitty words along with you," Jax spoke grimly as he balled his hands into fists beside his body.

The two men looked at each other and as if conforming something, they nodded in unison before looking back at the young man, who was now glaring daggers back at them.

"You need some time to think over this first. We will meet again soon Jax." The bony white man said and walked out of the door after nodding at Jax as if informing the latter of his departure.

Meanwhile, the second man looked at the young man as if he wanted to say something, but in the next moment, he also turned around before following his partner out of the door.

Jax stared at their backs until they left the detention cell. His mind kept replaying the words those two said to him. He found them completely unbelievable but there was this tiny inkling thought in his subconscious which disagreed with him.

Jax released a frustrated sigh before shaking his head as if shaking off whatever things he heard in the last few minutes. He already had enough on his plate to strain his brain cells over, and didn't need any new absurdities to over work his poor neurons.

However, one question wouldn't leave him alone?

Who are they exactly?

While he was still submerged in his own thoughts, someone came into his cell pushing the iron gate like door open with a loud bang after unlocking it.

Jax lifted his eyes and saw an officer, who was now walking toward him, taking leisurely steps.

"Sir, do you know the two men that came into my cell just now?" Jax asked the man in grey.

"What are you talking about?" asked the man in return.

"The two men that just came before you entered the room, they just walked out. I think you can still see them in the corridor now," Jax spoke in a flat tone.

He wasn't really interested in knowing about the two men from earlier, he was just curious about who they were and what was their motive.

Meanwhile, the officer poked his head out of the room, just in case someone was trying to do silly things, yet he saw no one there...

"No one is here kiddo," he said.

"Can you check again?" Jax was utterly puzzled, as the officer seemed to be genuinely confused about whatever the former asked him about.

"No one," he replied curtly.

Seeing his reaction, Jax was stumped for words. However, he soon recovered from his initial shock and asked the man in front of him again.

"Didn't you see two men leaving my cell, when you came over? They just left before you came in here. They were formally dressed in jet black suits..." Jax tried to describe their appearances briefly but his recipient cut him off mid sentence as he answered him.

"There were no such people, and it is impossible for anyone to meet a convict while he was detained waiting for his trial," said the officer in a matter of fact tone, which successfully made the young man to open his mouth wide in disbelief.

Jax didn't know how something like this was possible. He just spoke with them and saw them leaving this room with his own eyes, yet the police officer in front him was saying otherwise.

"Mr. Black, we will be leaving to the court in a few," said the man in grey as he held out the handcuffs in his hand in front of Jax's face.
