12 The Proposal

Wynter has been staring at the text message she had received minutes ago. It was all about her mommy Lydia's medical condition. The doctor stated that her foster mom's cervical cancer is now in the late stage.

I slumped down on the sofa and rubbed my aching temples. It has been a long time since I had known that Mommy Lydia has cancer and had been supporting her medication.

Recently, the doctor diagnosed that the cancer is already taking its toll on her. She's already weakened by the various treatment she has been getting the past few months. Whenever I saw her every time I visit, my heartaches.

She's the only one I have now...

Sighing, she leaned back at the cushion, casually placing her hand under her chin and think. Her last request was a grandchild, sooner than she'd been expecting. She said she wants to see her grandkids before she left the world. She chastised her for that, she speaks as if she's dying. No way...

It's too early for that to happen, I haven't fulfilled my promises to her yet. I promised to give her grandchildren to spoil with and to walk me on the altar.

"Ugh. What will I do?" She groaned out, searching her brain for solutions.

Adopting a baby is fine but she wanted blood kin, the only thing left is to have a baby herself. But how? It's not as if it could come out magically, or you'll just bake something and poof, a miracle child.

While staring at the ceiling, the face of a certain man entered my mind.

Of course, Keith is still there...

He could be her baby maker! And in the process, I get to seduce him. Damn, what a brilliant idea!

I jumped up from the couch, paced back and forth, and pondered for a plan.

What would be my approach? It's not like I could just barged in and demand to make a baby with me, or kidnap him and do the wicked way with him.

Well, she's good at business proposals and that's the only way she could come up with. To propose a business deal with him...

Sh-t, but what would be in exchange?

I looked outside the glass wall of my penthouse feeling annoyed and peered outside, watching the city lights blinking like fireflies. A man like Keith has it all, what would be a man like him doesn't have?

She could offer her marriage, but that would be impossible, he'll surely decline. The only thing I have right now is my company.

Well, I still have McIver Holdings. A very successful company and even ranked fifth in the country. It can't measure up to Nagasaki Corporation, but it's still up there...

With that thought in mind, Wynter grabbed her laptop from her room and started typing. Nothing will be lost in a small sacrifice.

Well, I hope so.

----------------------------------------*

One look at the Nagasaki Manor and she already knows, the Nagasaki's are filthy rich. It wasn't this big before, I remembered what it looked like. It was big but humble enough and it wasn't even located in a very exclusive subdivision. Was it just a front? Who knows...

I refrained from shying away when I saw the marble floors and walls that stood tall in front of me. Even the huge double doors are pretty marvelous. Just look at those carvings!

She looked down at the portfolio she has been clutching which contains the contract she spent the whole night with. She then patted her hair in place, making sure not even a single strand of hair is sticking out from her ponytails. After securing everything, she then tried to calm her nerves down. Her hands were sweating and her heart drummed at a fast pace. This should end well.

Wynter studied the intricately carved designed doors before she thought of knocking.

Here goes nothing...

"Wynter?"

Her hands were already up in the air when she heard a very familiar voice behind her so she swiveled around to confirm it.

There stood Kate Nagasaki, looking ridiculously beautiful as always, with her moss green dress and fur cardigan. She looked like a model that came out straight from Vogue.

Why is she everywhere...

"Kate..." She drily greeted, showing nothing but a blank face.

One perfectly sculpted eyebrow shot up in question as she looked her over.

"You need something?" She asked with a hint of arrogance.

I inwardly scoffed, what an airhead.

"I'm here for Keith," I answered, giving nothing away.

"And what do you need from my brother?" She inquired again and I became annoyed this time.

"Nothing that concerns you."

Her eyes narrowed dangerously at my tone.

"You might be forgetting whose property your feet are standing on." She stated with the same tone as mine. I frowned, even more, she's always snooping on others business.

"Look, Kate, I'm not here to bicker with you. I just wanted to talk to your brother, that's all." I said and sighed. This conversation is taking most of my time already. I really need to talk with him right now. "It's merely business."

She stared once more and pushed past me, the double doors opened and the flurry of activities from the maids inside ceased as they lined up to greet her.

"Eve, show Miss McIver to Keith's office. If he asks who let her in, tell him it was me." She said to the tall woman wearing office attire.

She then turned to look at me, her chinky onyx eyes regarded me cooly.

I thought she was going to say something, maybe an insult or whatever but she just turned around and left me there. I stood there with a confused expression on my face, what was that?

The woman named Eve smiled warmly at me and gestured to follow her. I was behind her as we made our way inside and went left. I was gawking at the expensive paintings littering the hallway. There were also family portraits hanging there, probably from generations of Nagasaki's. There was also a big family picture, Keith looked like the younger version of his father.

We stopped right outside the polished oak doors. Eve knocked and a voice boomed inside, ordering us to enter. Eve went in first before I followed suit. My eyes instantly zeroed at the man looking down at a bunch of papers scattered on his desk.

"Sire, Miss McIver is here for you." Eve greeted before she went out of the oak doors and closed it behind me.

Instantly, Keith's head shot up from what he's doing and stared. I gulped when I saw his handsome face, he looked freshly shaven and God, did he look sexier than ever. I could even smell his aftershave mixed with his usual scent that always drove me wild all the way to where I'm standing.

"Hey..." I lamely uttered out of distraction on his looks.

"Wynter, what are you doing here?" He asked. Raking his eyes all over my body, taking on my off-shoulder blouse and form-fitting jeans. Yep, I go casual today, what a first.

I frowned at his voice. Clearly, that's the only dialogue he knows whenever we meet.

"I'm here to propose a deal," I stated, not beating around the bush.

His expression darkened in an instant after hearing what I've said.

"Fvck off. I don't want to hear it." He stated with a grim expression on his face.

I was scared really, but because both of our future depended on it, I whisked it off. I came closer to where he was sitting and put down the portfolio I was holding in front of him.

"You could at least read it," I said. Determined to seal this deal.

"I'm not interested." He answered and I sighed.

"Just please hear me out..."

I was getting desperate, and I was looking at him with doe eyes, trying to tug the strings of his heart.

We were looking at each other for a few more seconds before he replied.

"Fine. Speak." He said, still not convinced.

I summoned a smile before I sat down at the chair in front of his desk. Gathering all sorts of courage, I said while gazing deep into his eyes.

"Fvck me."
