12 Chapter 8 : : Temperament Issue (Previous Chapter no. 12)

'And what about the Soul Energy Points?' Rex asked.

[Soul Energy Points comes from the soul fragments left behind by a soul inside the host after it leaves their physical body, we are not absorbing the whole soul maybe this is the reason that Heavenly Dao Laws aren't limiting us too much while absorbing them,]

Rex nodded, then after absorbing all the soul points, he walked to the black snake and used his sword to dug out its monster core. One attack was not enough to pierce the hard scales of the beast but after several slashed Rex managed to dig it out, the monster core of the snake was like a little black marble in appearance but this little marble carried a lot of benefit for the cultivators.

After taking the core Rex went back to the river shore and climbed the giant tree he used to hide before, he rested on the tree until morning. With his cultivation base and injuries, it wasn't wise to venture into the forest at night.

Early in the morning, Rex took a quick bath in the river then walked down the river, it was the direction in which the water was following.

After walking for a few hours, he arrived at the waterfall.

There was a cliff in front of Rex, the water was falling off the cliff into the river down there.

The cliff was dangerously deep, if a Soul Strengthening stage cultivator fell of such cliff then their chances of survival would be very low.

'This is for solid foundation Rex you can do it..' He tried to motivate himself.

Rex then took a deep breath, then started climbing down the cliff, climbing down the cliff was harder than climbing up to be because it was hard to see what was down below if the climber took one wrong step and chose the wrong footing then it can prove to be highly lethal for their life.

There was another main problem which was… flying type monster beast, if the climber encountered a flying type monster beast while climbing then it would be good as over for them.

After climbing down a little Rex started moving towards his left while carefully observing the small caves and holes on the cliff.

The place Rex chose to climb down, near the waterfall, had a lot of holes and small caves on it.

After climbing for almost an hour Rex finally locked his eyes on a specific cave then moved towards it and entered the cave.

This cave didn't look any different from others at first sight but after careful observation, one could see a silky thread was floating in the air outside the cave but one end of the thread was attached to the cave while others freely floated in the air.

Many monster beasts tend to mark their nest in different ways so that they can recognize it easily from afar, it also serves as a warning for others and shows that this place is taken.

The floating silk thread was one of those marks and Rex knew about it.

"Its good that I really liked hiking back then… but I never thought that it would be useful in my next life sigh…" Rex thought.

Rex then took out a sword and cautiously walked further inside the cave, the cave was a little dark from inside even when the sunlight was lighting the entrance but with his newly awakened Spiritual-Sense, it wasn't much of a problem for him.

Rex slowly advanced, he walked for a while and found almost to none hindrance in his way, after reaching the end of the cave he finally found what he was looking for.

There was a huge spider web in front, it was made of thin silky threads. at first glance, it looked very weak but after a careful observation Rex found out that several dead monster beast bodies were hanging on it.

All of them were wrapped in silk-like threads like a cocoon, although most of them were half-eaten but some were still in one piece, there was one thing Rex noticed that was all the monster beast on the net were in the range of 1st tier to the third tier.

All the monster beast were of the same type which was.. monster bats, their bats would have probably lived in this cave before the new monster infiltrated this place, took it as its own, and hunted its previous residents.

Actually, Rex didn't come here for the DNA signature of those bats but if he can get it for free then why not?

'As I thought, in this season that monster beast in this would migrate from its nest and go to a different location for hunting. Using the right knowledge at the right place is what I am good at, my previous self was a little idiotic when it comes to earning resources and money or I wouldn't have to suffer that much, I could have just earned them from these forests using my knowledge, sigh… it's no use regretting when the birds have already at the seeds in the field,' Rex shook his head.

Rex then placed his hand on one of the dead bats.

[Species: Sonic Bat

Description: sonic bats are the subspecies of monster bats, they are one of the best when it came to defensive capabilities among flying type monsters, unlike other flying-type who only use their wings to fly, sonic bats use their wings to both attacks and defend, like other monster bats they can also detect their prey in the night due to their unique sense of hearing.

Weakness: They do not pose any particular element so they would receive normal base damage with any attribute attack]

"To think I will get the bat's DNA signature too, it's a bonus, it's a shame that no one of them would have monster cores and I can't carry their precious body parts to cell as I am already carrying these swords..…. wait, what it is," Rex was just reading the description of sonic bats provided by the system and thinking what to do next but suddenly he looked towards one of the corners of the web.

There was the body of a strange bat, it was small compared to other bats but its wings were the biggest compared to all of them, Rex used to the sword to create sparks and was able to get a glimpse of her body and found out that the color of its wings was dark purple, a normal sonic bat would have only black wings, he never heard of other monster bats having purple wings either that's why it caught this attention.

Rex placed his hand above its head.

Description: A new subspecies of sonic bat formed due to genetic mutation, it has high defense and large-sized wings compared to other bats but has lesser body size and low hearing sense.

Rex was delighted to see that, all of his senses were telling him to pick it as one of the five DNA samples he needs, the reason being weather it was the hearing sense, defense, or wings they were all precious to him.

'Now let's do what I came for,' Rex thought then he started to dig the ground below the web with his sword, the ground was not hard enough to stop the sword of a Soul Strengthening stage cultivator. After digging with the sword for a while, the soil below became much softer than before so Rex placed the sword aside and started digging with his bare hands.

After 3 minutes of digging, his fingers touched a soft surface which had a gentle warmness to it.

"So it did bury its egg here, and the dead bodies of bats should be the food for its babies, my hunch was correc.…Ahaaah my head what's happening," Rex felt a sudden pain in his head, the pain was similar to the time when he regained his memory from last life.

[Replying to Rex, although you regained your memories from past life after the backup, your memories in this life are still not sorted out with the new ones, it's good that you now possess high intelligence status after awakening.

But your memories are still in the process of being sorted out to provide data to the system, it may happen from time to time until you clear your main mission and gain Gamer's Body, after it's over then your memory will become very sharp and strong enough to surpass the photographic memory after all I am using your subconscious brain to work right now so it's a given.

The best thing would be that your temperament will become stable, you won't have to get through the trouble of switching between Rex-Temperament and Ye Tian-Temprament]

"Hu.. Hu.. Hu.. I am telling you that was a terrible headache, what is even the use of remembering anything, what do you want me to remember the faces of ma parent that threw me in an orphanage or the time when I struggled hard to survive in the slums, I am not interested in remembering any of them," Rex said while rubbing his head.
