Kiitaharu Yarikawa wakes up to a nightmare — Tokyo in flames, war machines flooding the sky, and a massive starship casting its dark shadow over the ruined city. The entire world has been wiped out at once. Only a few survivors remain in Tokyo, forced into a brutal experiment where suffering is the ultimate goal. But amid the chaos, the emperor’s gaze is locked on Kiitaharu. Why? As he fights to survive the apocalypse, his mysterious buried past begins to unravel — holding answers that may be even more terrifying than the war itself.
Multiverse. Alternate Realities. Parallel Worlds. The idea of their existence has existed in humans' minds for a long time. Even in ancient times, the first philosophical assumptions were made that parallel worlds could exist. The so-called theory of the "multiverse" - Stephen Hawking's concept stating that our universe is just one of many, if not an infinite number of universes. Especially today, multiverses are used in modern fiction to create an unique science fiction scenario.
This light novel called PSI-99 is part of my fictional universe called "Project Dread", a story about these parallel worlds. No worries - you'll find out more about it when the main novel comes one day. PSI-99 is also the prehistory of a late-appearing main character of it.
This is the first story I ever published, so apologies if some passages aren't perfect, this is the first light novel I have ever published. The story takes place before the events of my unrealesed main novel Project Dread. To be precise, before the main turning point at the end of the first chapter.
Before you start, I would like to mention that a lot of the world-building mentioned and described (especially in the upcoming prologue) is a bit incomprehensible at the beginning of the first reading. The meaning becomes clear as the story progresses, but the entire world-building of Project Dread is not necessary to understand this story.
With this book, I want to say a lot. This story is about fate, dreams, the past and the meaning of eternity. I see a big problem in today's society, especially among young people and their goals in life. What exactly? That will become clear soon enough. Even if this book is characterized by science fiction and may seem a touch exaggerated in some passages, I think that my message will have an effect in the end.
With that I'll leave you again, enjoy reading!
