It was dusk, Denzel was already washing the meat of the bear with water and Zoey came out of her tent, carrying a toothbrush in her hand. She took a little bowl in her other hand and glanced at Denzel as he kept on working.
Zoey was a jovial person, no matter how reserved a person could be, she often knew how to keep in touch with them, but she loathed something, being yelled at.
Denzel took a look at her and looked back at the meat he was rinsing. He didn't care about anything she had against him, with what he had been through, he cared less about people and he didn't even emit a word to her.
"Evening," Denzel said to Zoey as he went on with what he was doing, and Zoey just ignored him and kept on walking. Denzel didn't utter a word, he smirked and threw the meat he held into another plastic. He took another piece of meat and began to wash it.
After about five minutes, Zoey came back and walked past Denzel like he wasn't there. She took three steps forward and halted, she sighed and wondered about what would have been wrong with her.
'What if he had a reason for getting that angry?' She thought as she stopped and sighed, she then turned back to Denzel and glanced at him, as he just continued with what he was doing.
"Hey, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to take your picture earlier, I just did it because I felt you had a nice physique."
"Okay."
"That's all?"
"What else is there?"
"Nothing, never mind, but please for the little time I would be with you here, try not to yell at me."
Denzel didn't care, he saw no reason to care about someone that he didn't even trust or someone that was about to leave him soon. He ignored her and took two thin sticks, placed one on the ground and took the other with a sharp end and placed it at an angle of 90 to the one on the ground. He began to roll it fast over the other one until he began to see signs of smoke come out of it. Soon, a fire was started.
"How'd you learn that?"
"What? The fire?"
"Yes."
"It's just common knowledge, anyone can do that."
"Ohh... But I can't do that though."
Denzel continue and took some other thin sticks, and began to pierce them through the meat. He hung the first one and the second over the fire.
"Hey! Won't you at least season it a little?"
"What?"
Zoey hissed and opened her bag. She took out a can of salt and stood up.
"Just a pinch... And okay." Zoey said as she sprayed little salt over the meat that was over the fire. She closed it back and passed it to him.
"Salt?"
"Yes. I didn't expect you to know it, given that you live here." She flexed the can at him signalling him to collect it from her hand. He took it and opened it. He licked a bit and frowned his face a little.
"Thanks."
Zoey smiled the instant he showed his gratitude. She didn't expect him to thank her, because of the way he had been behaving toward her.
Denzel took another piece of meat and pierced another stick through it. He placed his hand into the salt and tried to spray it on the meat, but he didn't get it. The salt kept dropping on a spot and he took more. After trying it about three more times and he still couldn't get it, Zoey stood up and giggled.
"Hey, let me show you," Zoey said, still staring at Denzel as he was already frustrated and it showed on his face. He sighed and gave it to her.
"You're mocking me," Denzel said to Zoey when he noticed the look on her face. He spoke calmly like he was shy.
"No, I wasn't"
Zoey snickered at how frustrated, and the more she laughed, the more a sad look formed on his face.
"Okay, look at how I'd do it," Zoey said once more as she dipped her index finger and her thumb into the can. She took out little salt from it and sprayed it on the top of the meat.
"Now you try it." She handed it over to Denzel and folded her arms. Denzel pierced another stick through another piece of meat and he sprayed the salt exactly how she did it, slowly so he could be precise.
After about 15 minutes, the meat was getting done and Denzel took out the first piece that was done and handed it over to Zoey to eat it. She took it from his hand and blew on it and then put it in her mouth.
"Wow, it's good." She said and she took another piece from where it was hung. Denzel put the one in his hand into his mouth and his eyes opened wide the moment he tasted the meat. He quickly ate it and took another.
It had been a very long time since Denzel had eaten food that tasted good. He kept on eating and as he did, he took a look at Zoey and saw how she looked at him while she ate gently.
She was composed, with her legs crossed as she held the stick with just two of her fingers. He held the meat in both hands and when he saw her glancing at him, he put the meat back down and cleaned his mouth.
"Ha ha ha, You haven't eaten a food this good before?" She said, laughing, and Denzel didn't counter her.
"You know, this isn't half as good as something you will eat in the city, this is just there, but since you live here I am not surprised." She continued, as she glanced at Denzel.
After a few minutes, She was done eating, and she drank the water that was in her water bottle and walked to her tent.
"Good night pal." She said to Denzel and Denzel nodded to her. He rushed the meat he had in his hands and kept the rest of it in a container. He stood, cleaned his hands and went into his tent.

THE NEXT DAY...
Denzel opened his eyes and wondered where the music he heard might be coming from. He got up from his sleeping bag and went out, to see what was going on, and he saw Zoey wash her face in a big container.
"Good morning!" Zoey looked back and wailed to him as she stood from where she bent and packed her hair. The day before, Zoey's face was filled with dirt because of the attack of the bear and when he saw her next, it was dark, so Denzel could only see how beautiful she was now that she had washed her face.
Zoey was a red-haired girl, with a well-chiselled face that was very beautiful. Her nose was nordic shaped with a heart-shaped lip beneath it. Her upturned eyes had a brown eyeball and to top it off, she had a curvaceous body.
"Oh, it's just you."
"Yes, is anything wrong?"
"Nothing," Denzel said when remembered that she arrived the day before. When he wakes up on a norm, all he hears is the chirping of birds, but the song he heard that morning got him worried when he woke up.
"I should check what the news has for us today."
"You hear the news?"
"No, I just feel like it today."
She took her cell phone and turned off the music that was playing and she clicked on the radio icon on the screen.
-Two more people were reported dead and the investigators have concluded that it was done by the well known serial killer named M.D-
'M.D?' Denzel thought, as he recalled the letters that were drawn on his friend's body by Leia, and Zoey could already notice the restlessness in Denzel's body.
