11 Chapter 11

t's been two more weeks since I 'almost' died, Three weeks since I've seen the King. I know he's been purposefully avoiding me, I haven't even felt the gut feeling of when someones looking at me. The only reason I could think of why he was avoiding me was maybe he blamed himself for my almost-demise.

I don't blame him though, it was my fault that I had stumbled in on his personal life, I couldn't have known of course, but still, that made me feel guilty because I encroached on his place that I now know was extremely important to him.

. . . . . . . .

It was around midnight, and yet again, I couldn't even feel tired. This happened last night and the night before that. I was mentally and physically drained, but my brain would not let me sleep. So, me being me, And who I am means I will never be able to learn my lesson. I went exploring.... Yet again.

But this time, I had a good feeling about this toboggan.

. . . . . . .

The moon was glowing a pearly white tonight, it seeming to have a gorgeous hue that shined on the world perfectly. The deep purple roses seemed to be a shiny black in the moonlight, almost like little galaxies, the tiny little water droplets that stayed on the petals from the light shower that happened just before supper looked like little stars. I wrap my cloak around me as I feel a soft breeze gracing my skin. I look up and study the fork in the gravel road, on the right, there was a clean cut, easily navigable path leading to a pristine white fountain with angel babies wearing nothing and water spewing through their lips. I furrow my eyebrows and look at the other fork on the road. The trees were overgrown, the leaves strewn across the once stone path. The stone walls on each side covered in moss and vines. This path was strangely ... Beautiful.

I look one more time to the boring path, give it a mock salute and step towards the dark overgrown path.

I walked for two minutes before I see a clearing up ahead, the trees and moss had thinned out, making the beginning of the path look much for terrifying than it actually was. I see the clearing become closer and closer, but for some reason, my feet stopped moving. I look around, trying to find anything out of the ordinary, but I only saw the stone walls on each side of me that was covered in moss and vines, nothing different than the other hundred steps I just took. I take another step forward, but I hit a wall, the tip of my shoe bending from the wall stopping me from moving, I take a step back, turning around all the way. I touch the wall to my left, feeling for anything that can explain this.

I couldn't find anything so I move to the wall on my right. Immediately I feel something protruding from the wall, I grasp the circle and twist it, pushing in. The stone wall gives in, bright light emerging from the now open hidden door. I cover my eyes from the intense sunlight.

Sun - light .

Sun .

Light .

It was sunlight, I haven't seen sunlight in the last two months, that was how long I have been in the castle. I step fully into the bright scalding light, and close the stone behind me. Birds were chirping, the flowers were awake, the grass was green, it was gorgeous. I truly forgot how pretty the day was. I smile and giggle, running to the crystal clear water, the pond filled with fish that adapted bright colors. I touch the water, smiling at the cold liquid. In the middle of the pond was a small little island with a pedestal placed on it, holding an open golden book, I tilt my head, confused and interested at what it could be. "You always seem to be where you are not supposed to." I hear a deep soft voice state from behind me. My smile fell as I immediately recognized who the voice belonged to.

"Where have you been for the last three weeks?!" I demand, folding my arms, whipping around to face the King. I see his soft smile fall as I turned to look at him. He always seemed to to that.

"I was under the impression you did not want to look at me." He told me, looking past me, to the golden book.

"What gave you that impression?"

"You almost died from my causes. Maybe that' what did it." He sneered, his nose scrunching a little.

"No, I almost died because I was where I wasn't supposed to be, and I reacted strongly."

"You wouldn't have reacted strongly if I did not scream at you."

"Nor would you have screamed at me if I payed more attention in the tour, Benjamin had probably told me not to enter that room. I apologize." I tell him, looking at the green grass.

"I am deeply sorry also. I did not mean to be that...Scary."

"Then I guess we are made up then right?" I smile at him.

"I guess we are." He smiles slightly back. His blue eyes softening and staring into my soul.

"Soooo, what is this place?" I ask out of a minute of silence.

"This is a place that the Witch decided to tease me with. With me looking like this; I cannot over go into the light of day, so, she made this to remind me of that."

"You don't get it, do you?" I state, shaking my head.

"Get what?"

"The sorceress cursed you so you can learn a lesson."

"Why?" He growls. glaring at the ground.

"You were a beast on the inside. She just made it known to everyone else. It's up to you to break 'your' curse." I stress the word your.

"And why's that?" He spits, looking straight into my eyes.

"You need a change of soul. Maybe I can help with that, but in the long run, it's you who decides to change for the better. It's not up to me."

"But it is, how else am I supposed to break this wretched curse?"

"By trying to be a good person, to strive to become better every day. That's how." I tell him, throwing my hands up in the air.

"That's easier said that done." He mutters.

"You're right, but you need to figure that out in order to break the curse. I can only help so much." I smile slightly, walking back through the door I came from, leaving a very thoughtful beast in the sunlit room.
