24 Flashback

(18 and a half years ago)

(Jered's POV)

"Jacob where are we going?" I asked while Nathan, Jacob and I were walking through an old village. "Shut up Jered. Just follow us.We were told to check something out." Jacob replied. I let out big sigh and just followed them.

Then out of nowhere there was a huge explosion. The ground started to shake and we had to make sure we don't fall to the ground. We ran towards the explosion and even though it was smokey, we were able to see the house was in rubble.

"We need to search through the rubble to check if there is any survivors." I said to Jacob. He nodded and we started to search through the rubble. We seperated to cover more ground.

After a couple of minutes of searching, I began to hear a cry from a baby. "Jacob! Nathan!" I yelled out and began to run towards the cries of the baby. Once I reached the cries of the baby, I noticed a body slightly moving. It was man. He looked like he could barely move but somehow he moved to his side revealing a small baby.

I kneeled next to the man and the baby and he noticed me. He didn't react as if I was dangerous. I guess it is because I'm only a teenager. "T-Take c-c-care o-of he-her." the man said before he coughed up some blood. I nodded my head and suddenly his body became motionless. The man was dead.

I looked at the crying baby and I slowly picked her up. She had her baby fangs out. Her family were vampires. Jacob and Nathan came up to me and saw me holding the baby then they looked at the man. "This man probably used his body to protect the baby." Jacob said and I nodded in agreement because the baby had very little cuts on her.

"We have to get her back to the pack." I said and they looked at me in shock. They were probably in shock because of the fact that I really don't associate myself with children. I walked past them before they could say anything about it. I grabbed a ripped blanket from the ground and wrapped it around her.

I then started to run with Nathan and Jacob following from behind. I held on to the baby tightly while I was running to make sure she wouldn't fall out of my hands. I don't even how fast I was going but I ran faster that Nathan and he has the power of speed.

As soon as we got to the pack house, I ran inside to find Alpha Derek (Jacob's Dad). I found him in his office with my dad looking over some documents. "Al...pha" I said while catching my breath. Alpha and my dad looked up and saw me panting and carrying the baby. "Jered what is the meaning of this?" My father asked.

I held up my index finger to indicate to them that to give me a minute to breathe. When I finally caught my breath, I explained what happened. I told them everything from the explosion to me having the baby. They were shocked at first but then they came to their senses. "Alpha what do you want us to do with the vampire baby?" my father asked with curiosity.

The Alpha stood there with his hands on his hips trying to think of a solution. "A family will need to take her in and take care of her. Since she is a vampire, they will need to provide for her and everything." The Alpha finally said after a couple of minutes of waiting.

I have no clue what came over meme, but I immediately spoke. "I'll take care of her. The person who gave her to me told me to take care of her so I will. No one else is going to touch her." Alpha looked at me in shock. He then looked at my father who was also in shock and said "Can you go get your wife while I talk to Jered." My father snapped out of his state and nodded then walked out of the room.

Alpha Derek sat down at his desk and told me to take a seat on the chair across from him. I took a big breath and sat down with the sleeping baby. "Jered, why do you want to take care of this baby?" he asked me and I simply replied. "I was told to take care of her and I gave that man my word. I'm not going to go against that."

He gave me a weird curious look and asked "So what are you going be to her? A father?" "More like a big brother." I replied.

Alpha was about to say something when my father and mother came in the room. My mom looked at me with the baby and went into complete shock. That look is getting me really annoyed. "Janet, thank you for coming. I have something to discuss with you guys."

My mom snapped out of her state of shock and looked at the Alpha and nodded. Alpha Derek explained the situation to my mom and she had no expression on her face. Then Alpha Derek said "It seems that your son wants to be sort of like a big brother and take care of her. He doesn't seem to want to change his mind about it either. I know it's weird to see him to actually have a liking to this child but I want to know if you would support in taking care of her."

My parents looked at each other with weird looks on their face. It seems like they are mind linking each other. They let out a deep sigh and turned to us. "Even if you say no I'm still going to do it and you are not going to stop me. This is the only child who I have actually had an interest in and since she is now all alone, I want to be there for her so she doesn't have to be. You know how I always wanted a little sibling so why not her." I suddenly blurted out.

My parents listened to all the words that came out of my mouth and made a big sigh. "Fine we will take her in." my father said. My lips curled up and I looked at the little girl in my arms. "What's up little one? I'm your older brother, Jered." I said to her softly. I looked at Alpha who surprisingly had one side of his lip curled up.

"What's her name?" he asked and I shrugged. The man never told me her name. "Well I guess you have to name her then." he then said. I looked back at the baby and she was awake. Her eyes we like an emerald green color. It sparkled a little and I suddenly came up with a name. "Diamond.Her name is Diamond." I said while she played with my finger.
