1 The System.

Ronan was halfway through working his part-time job at a convenience store, he was used to working many different part-time jobs as he often had to switch jobs when he was no longer needed, but the job he was working at now was the longest job he had ever done, he has been working here for over 5 months, since the start of his scholarship, he has been worrying for the past 5 months because he has a sister and a mother, his family can be considered as poor and that's the reason he wants to complete the Business administration course, companies are always lacking properly trained business administrators and it is a rather high paying job, with this type of job he will be able to provide for his family instead of his family providing for him.

During his break, his head started to hurt, it got so painful that he went down on his knees holding his head, unfortunately, no one was near so he couldn't get any help, the pain was too excruciating but luckily it didn't last long before it was gone.

After the pain finished he went into the bathroom to wash his face, 'That was strange, I haven't had a headache that bad ever, maybe I've been working too hard.' Following his thoughts, he called the manager.

"Hey, Will I be able to take the rest of the day off? I'm not feeling too good." Ronan said, "Sure, you're always on time and you normally stay when others don't turn up. Get well soon." The manager replied before hanging up.

Ronan opens his locker, changes his clothes before picking up his bag and heading back to the dorm.

After arriving at his dorm he decides to take a shower.

As he's getting out of the shower he looks in the mirror and freezes, one of his eyes has turned yellow, he appears taller and he looks more handsome. This causes him to check his height and weight.

He has grown from 5' 11'' to 6' 1'', his right eye is still the same emerald green, but his left eye is bright yellow, his weight has gone down to 170lbs, his eyes have become narrower and wider, while his nose had become smaller, his mouth still had the same thin lips, while his hair had the second-biggest change, it was shoulder-length brown hair but now had turned to a golden shoulder-length feathered hairstyle.

But by far the most strange thing to happen to him was the system he was now hearing.

Once again he froze, but this time it was because he wasn't just hearing voices, he also saw a system, but only in his left eye.

'So... I'm going to wake up when exactly?' He thought that he was dreaming, but unfortunately or fortunately, that wasn't true.

'So, this menu does it ever disappear because it's a great inconvenience, you know being able to see out of 1 eye only, and also why can't you make it semi-transparent, you know so I can see through it while I'm using it, and the menu what's it about, mainly the prosperity thing, I know it has something to do with money but why am I only at 1 and my net worth, it's at 0, I'm definitely worth more than nothing.'

After firing off several questions the system got impatient. [ONE. ONE QUESTION AT A TIME.]

'So can you answer my questions one at a time then?'

[Fine, the menu disappears, you can edit the transparency in the menu, you can also change it so instead of 1 eye you can see it through both eyes, the prosperity 'thing' is how prosperous you are, how much you can gain in your entire lifetime, being at 1 means you won't make anything, you'll forever be poor and finally net worth, it's how much you have made with the system, it will not count all the previous jobs you have done before the system, but any money made doing system missions and money made using money gained from the system will be counted towards that, for example. you make $100, your worth $100 then you gamble it into $200, you're net worth would be $200 because you made the $100 using the original $100 given by the system. Subsequently, that extra $100 becomes money made from the system and it repeats in a cycle like that, or at least it should do.]

'So what's up with my appearance?' Ronan asked confused, changing so much so suddenly would seem strange to those around him.

[This is super simple, all you have to do it earn $10, it only takes 1 day so you should be fine.]

'Super simple my ass, you know I just left my job for the day, how am I supposed to make money when I stopped working already.' Ronan said sarcastically.

[Well, aren't you doing a business administration course? Why not offer to do some coursework for people in exchange for money?]

'Huh, I suppose I could, but I'll have to find people who are lacking in coursework and can pay me.' After Ronan finished his line of thought he got dressed and walked out of the bathroom, he shared his dorm with 3 people but only 2 lived there the 3rd has never been there so they don't know who he/she looks like.

He organizes his bedroom in the spare time he has after finishing work early.

After finishing his bedroom he checks the time, 10:45. 15 minutes before the next lecture starts, he gets ready and heads off towards the lecture hall, there are roughly 30 people inside, it is a lecture from a not-so-well-known professor so it isn't as popular as others, but you do get course credit for coming and this is where he finds his target pool, Trinity College only gives out 5 scholarships a year, so if all 5 attended this lecture then there are at least 25 people attending this lecture for credit or interest, so about half of the people here will be listening just for the credit.

After doing a quick scout around he notices a group of 3 at the back of the hall, they seem to be playing games on their phones instead of listening. 'These people must be here for the credit.' Ronan thought before approaching them.

"Hello, my name is Ronan, I happened to notice that you don't seem to be here for the lecture." Ronan pointed out instantly, he just wanted to get this over and done with.

"So what?" The one who replied was the man sitting in the middle, they were all wearing the same jacket, but his jacket was blue while the others were green.

"Well I happen to require some money and it looks like you 3 don't want to be stuck here getting the credit, so in exchange for $40 I can help you 3 complete 1 module each." A course was made up of several to several tens of modules depending on the course you were taking.

"Really? But why would I want someone to do it for me when I can just pay my way to graduation without doing anything?" The man in the middle said.

"Simple, people will always talk behind your back about you if you pay your way through it, but if you were to complete that people will at least have to show you some basic respect because you put in the effort to complete it." Ronan replied.

"Hahaha." The man laughed. "Sure, why not, This textbook." He passes Ronan a textbook. "It is my 3rd module, complete it for me and I'll give you $40, if not you'll have to return the textbook and you won't get paid even for partial completion.

"What's your phone number?" Ronan asked.

"Don't worry, I live in dorm 5, it should be near your dorm 8." The man replied before getting up with his friends and leaving.

After the Lecture finished Ronan went back to his dorm and started reading the textbook.

'He gave me this?' Ronan was puzzled, it was the textbook they were assigned to complete within the first 10 days of starting so it was easy for him to finish in a couple of hours.

2 hours later and he's done, he takes a quick look at the time before leaving towards dorm 5.

*Knock Knock*

"What's up?" The person who answered was neither of the 3 who he saw before.

"I'm here to return a textbook to a man wearing a blue jacket, he has 2 friends with him who normally wear green jackets." Ronan replied.

"Oh that guy, yeah give it here." He took the textbook and gave him $40.

"Aren't you going to look through it?" Ronan asked.

"If it isn't done properly he knows where your dorm room is so it doesn't matter." The man replied before shutting the door on Ronan.

'Good thing I did it properly' He thought while sweat was dripping down his back.

After getting the money he headed back towards his dorm, when he got inside he opened the system with both eyes and saw a notification.

[Mission Complete - Gain $10.]

[Reward - 1 Beginner Gift Pack.]

Then he heard the voice he was all too familiar with.

[Congratulations, you have completed the quest I assigned you with, and it only took you a couple of hours to complete, now, do you want to open your beginner pack?]

'Sure.'

[Congratulations, You have opened Beginner Gift Pack.]

[Obtained - Accounting Level 1, Stock Trade Level 1, Mathematics Level 1, Foreign Languages Level 1, $1000.]

'So what's with the rewards?' Ronan asked.

[Simple, you can gain skills through several ways, one of which includes from Gift Packs, you gained 4 skills which will show up on your menu now, you also gained $1000, so your current net worth is $1040 because you got $40 from doing the mission it is also included in your net worth.]

[Do you want your second mission now?]

'Sure, give me another mission.'

[Mission Received - Increase prosperity by 1.]

[Reward - Increase any 2 skills by 1 level.]

'How do I do that?' Ronan asked confused.

[It's quite simple, gain enough money and you can exchange it for prosperity, the first prosperity point is at $1500, so all you need to do is get $400 but I recommend you get more so that you can grow your net worth and not be left with nothing again.]

'Do you have any ideas on how I can earn $400?' Ronan asked.

[Since it's your first time then I'll give it to you for free, but other times it will cost you based on the tip and the mission you have, you have made $1000 and you have 4 skills, so I recommend that you use either of those skills to increase your money, I recommend being a small-time stock trader, you have the skill which means you should at least understand the basics and you have the money so you can experiment a bit before you start to earn money.]

'Okay, so I should look for somewhere I can trade stocks?'

[There are several ways, you can use several different apps, or go in-person to a stock market, either way, it is up to you, I will also give you warnings based on the app on whether or not they are legit.]

After the conversation, Ronan opened up his laptop and searched for various apps and websites where he can trade stocks, he registered an account with LocalStocks, it was a reputable business that operated locally, he could create an account and start trading in stocks from there.

Ronan proceeds to put $100 into his account and look at the current stocks available.

They are all small penny stocks, nothing he could put a lot of money into, but also nothing he could lose a lot of money in.

After browsing around for 10 minutes he finds some fairly safe stocks, the price fluctuations are fairly stable and they have been on the rise for a couple of hours. 'I'll invest $10 into this, let's see where it takes me.'

He puts the request in and minutes later he gets a confirmation message about the stocks.
