8 Chapter 8

“I’m here to make myself useful,” Sebastian said. “I’m not much with book work, but I enjoy anything practical, so lending a hand with the garden seemed just the thing.”

Blackstone grinned. “We could do with some help. We are a bit short on ideas.”

Sebastian smiled as Coulson rolled his eyes and Hawkins looked uncomfortable. “I’d be happy to.”

“I’ve been meaning to draw up some plans but…” Hawkins looked out over the garden with a frown.

Sebastian batted away a curious moth and looked at his companions. Decent horseflesh, handsome companions, and something to do that didn’t involve books. Things could be worse.

The light was almost gone, so they made their way back into the house, and Sebastian followed Hawkins back to the study.

“I’m going to retire,” Hawkins said, as he scanned the bookshelves. He pulled down a couple of volumes. “Do you need Coulson to act as valet?”

Sebastian shook his head. He could sort himself out. “Thank you, but no. I will manage.”
