7 Chapter 7

Hawkins looked at him, brows drawn into a frown. “Very well…” He appeared to ponder the possibilities. “Are you any good with your hands?”

It was on the tip of his tongue to say that he’d been told he had very talented hands, but he cleared his throat and just nodded. He felt so bloody stupid. Here he was, a product of the finest education that money could buy, and what could he do? Nothing.

“Well, I do have a project…” Hawkins was eying him warily.

“What kind of a project?”

Hawkins appeared to search for the right words. “I was thinking of rebuilding the kitchen garden. Redesign it and then re-plant it to extend the range of fruits and vegetables that I can grow, but I’m not terribly practical at that sort of thing.”

“Really?”

Hawkins looked awkward. “I was going to bring in some labour, but I haven’t got around to organising it, although between Coulson and Blackstone they might be able to manage it.”

“Perhaps you should show me?”

“Now?”
