It developed into something of a race to see who could shift the piles fastest and Sebastian could only marvel at Blackstone’s strength and stamina. When he whistled past him with a load Sebastian put on a spurt to try and catch him and just as he was gaining some ground, caught his boot in something and ended up sprawling full length. He lay on the ground winded and feeling like a complete idiot. Blackstone halted, and, putting his load down, came back and offered him a hand up. He laughed as he did so, and Sebastian was trying to recover his breath and his composure sufficiently to take hold of his hand and let loose the string of epithets building, when a sharp voice made them both jump.

“What in God’s name are you doing?”
