“You could say that,” he said to the grinning Blackstone.

Sebastian had dispensed with his coat, his cravat, and he rolled up the sleeves of his shirt as sweat dampened the soft material. He was breathing heavily. He looked up at the sun. It was moving into early evening and had lost much of its power, but it was still uncomfortably warm. He hesitated a moment, and then pulled the shirt over his head. It was too late in the day for the sun to burn him, and the wet material was driving him mad.

Blackstone laughed. “No pretty girls around here for you to impress,” he said and carried on digging.

Sebastian smiled. Thank God. As a youngest son he wasn’t exactly considered a Catch, but that didn’t seem to deter some of the more determined females.
