74 The Sister

Sara arrived at the Zhou villa to pick up Bella after her date. Uncle Arthur informed her that Bella was with Cora and Andrew in the theatre.

She found them easily and sat down beside Cora while Bella finished her movie.

"So? How did it go?" Cora asked expectantly.

"Really good until Edward paid a waiter to dump drinks all over Daniel." Sara muttered.

"What?! Edward as in your boss? Gordon's friend Edward?" Cora asked.

"The one and only." Sara said thru gritted teeth.

"Why would he do that?!" Cora asked.

"Because he's in love." Andrew joined their conversation.

"Not even close. He told me he's not ready for a relationship. He just wants me to not have one either, apparently." Sara complained.

"It doesn't matter. He's in love with you despite his ability to be in a relationship. That's why he's been acting so weird. I'm a man. I know these things." He said.

"So what am I supposed to do?" Sara asked.

"How do you feel about him?" Andrew asked.

"I don't know! Conflicted. Confused. When he's cold and aloof I want to shake him. But tonight when he kissed me—" Sara was interrupted.

"Wait, he kissed you?!" Cora squealed.

"Yes. I tried to leave and he shoved me in an elevator and pushed me against the wall and kissed me like he was trying to suck out my soul." Sara said.

Andrew started laughing. "Oh wow, he's got it bad. Wait till the guys hear about this!"

"But I feel badly for Professor Bai. I got him in this mess." Cora said.

"Well, you know my sister, Grace just came back from abroad. She might be a good fit!" Andrew said.

"According to Edward, who is Daniel's cousin, Daniel is boring and dry. I think he's nice but, do you think Grace would be a good fit with him?" Sara asked.

"She's the exact opposite. Will that work?" Andrew said.

"Probably." Sara agreed.

Andrew promised to help Cora this time, because she was afraid that Professor Bai wouldn't agree to a second blind date.

He met her on campus for lunch and they went to find the professor. They found him in his office grading papers. Cora knocked lightly.

"Come in." He called.

They opened the door and came inside.

"Hi, Professor. This is my fiancé—" Cora was interrupted by Professor Bai.

"Andrew Xiao! Long time no see!" He exclaimed.

"I didn't know you were my girlfriend's teacher. What a small world!" Andrew exclaimed.

"You two know each other?" Cora asked.

"We were in college together." Andrew said.

"Cora, I didn't know you were engaged to this old man! He's my age!" Daniel Bai exclaimed.

"I'm not narrow minded like you. Were getting our marriage license on her twentieth birthday." Andrew told him.

"We came so I could apologize about your blind date." Cora said.

"It's alright. My cousin already called me. I'll back off from Sara." David said.

"We also came to ask you on a double date. Andrew and I with you and his—" Cora was cut off.

"Cora, I changed my mind. This isn't a good idea." Andrew interrupted.

"Why not?" Cora asked.

"Because he's the reason Grace went abroad to study. He broke her heart. I don't ever want to see her like that again." Andrew said, feeling protective of Grace.

"I never meant to hurt her. She was just so young. Only eighteen. I didn't think she knew what love was." Daniel said quietly.

"I'm nineteen and I know I want to spend my life with Andrew. And by the way, who cares that he's almost thirty-one?" Cora spoke up.

"Grace was skin and bones when she left China. I've never seen her cry so much in my life. I won't let her get hurt like that again." Andrew said.

"I won't hurt her. I want to see if she'd forgive me and give me a chance." Daniel said.

"She's a kindergarten teacher at Royal Child Day School. You can try meeting her there. That's all the help I'm giving you." Andrew said.

"Thank you!" Daniel said.
