55 The Regret

"If I ruined your business partnership, well...I'm not sorry!" Charlotte said suddenly as they were on their way back to the hotel.

"You didn't. But even if you had, it would be okay." Gordon assured her.

"She was undressing you with her eyes!" Charlotte hissed.

"But she'll never see what's underneath. Only you can. You could undress me when we get to our room and I'll show you some other things she will never get to do." Gordon whispered in her ear. She shivered and her breath caught.

"Do you do business with women like her often?" She asked suddenly. Charlotte had never thought that Gordon might deal with women like Penny, but then the majority of consumers for jewelry were women. Or men buying for their women.

"Not often. But, Charlotte, they don't move me. You are the only woman who has ever aroused my interest." He tried to assure her. It seemed pregnancy was doing a number on her hormones and emotions. Things that once didn't bother her now brought her to tears.

"But Penny is so beautiful; she's tall and slender." Charlotte said.

"And? You have soft curves and large breasts, and big, beautiful eyes that I get lost in. You have a mouth that I'm addicted to kissing! You have a personality that drew me out when no one could. You're the only person I know who can make me truly laugh. In my eyes she is nothing. No one makes me feel the way I do except you." Gordon told her.

In the week since Amy had walked out of Calvin's office, he had constantly thought about her. He went back to the club where he met her several times, but it seemed she wasn't a regular.

Finally he stooped to having one of his men gather information on her. He'd just received the information in a folder and was glancing through.

He drummed his fingers on his desk impatiently. It seemed her parents, while wealthy, had died In an automobile accident when she was a young teen, and her uncle and aunt hadn't treated her well.

She currently worked three jobs to survive in Beijing. He frowned. The salary she'd have earned working for him would have enabled her to quit all three jobs. Apparently her bottom line was more important than an easy path. He had really messed this up.

Taking note that one of her part time jobs was a coffee shop, he decided he needed to visit it that afternoon.

He felt anxious when his driver announced they had arrived.

"What the heck am I doing? I shouldn't be doing this." Yet like a moth to a flame he felt her pull.

He went inside and found a seat in the corner and glanced at a menu. After a few moments, the woman who haunted both his dreams and waking hours stood before him ready for his order. He watched as her bright smile faltered.

"Calvin. I mean, Mr. Zhou. What can I get for you?" She asked him. He ordered something that sounded good and then asked her to sit with him.

"I can't for long or my boss will scold me." She told him as she joined him.

"Tell your boss to go—" Calvin was interrupted.

"Enough! I need this job so please don't make trouble for me." Amy pleaded.

"I want you in my life Amy. I'm not ready for a major commitment right now, because I don't want to make the wrong decision. But I can't accept that you're not in my life. I want to move slowly. If that's something you're interested in, let me know!" He slid his business card with his information towards her. His personal number was also written as well.

"I'll be in touch with my answer soon." She said and then went back to work.

Gordon and Charlotte were going home. They boarded his private jet and her eyes widened when she saw the inside.

"I still can't get over you having your own jet!" She exclaimed.

"It's been helpful for business." He said.

Charlotte looked around. "Gordon, a bed in there!" She said in surprise.

"Just imagine what we can accomplish in eleven hours." Gordon said, his facial expression never changing.

The on-board stewardess' were standing nearby and they blushed at his implied meaning. Charlotte glared at them, scaring the women. The scene wasn't missed by Gordon. He pulled her to the bedroom and sat down beside her on the bed.

"Charlotte, Do you trust me?" He asked seriously.

"Yes. I just don't trust other women." She said.

"Fair enough. But be confident in me. I won't give in to another woman's flirtations. How could I when I have you by my side?" Gordon reassured her. She nodded.
