71 The Red Egg Party

Several weeks had passed since Amy had her heart surgery. She was doing much better, but felt stifled under Calvin's watchful eye.

They had been invited to and planned to attend the red egg and ginger party for Michael and Rachel's baby boy. Instead of having it at his one month they decided to wait until he was one hundred days old.

The party was being held at one of the nicest hotel banquet halls in Beijing so Amy wanted to dress her best.

"You look stunning." Calvin said as he walked in their bedroom to see his wife gold evening gown. He couldn't help but to kiss her. Amy deepened the kiss and began unbuttoning his dress shirt. Calvin stilled her hands and broke the kiss.

"Amy, it's to soon. I don't want to hurt your heart or your incision." Calvin insisted.

"But it's been six weeks. My incision has healed. The doctor said I can exercise and I'm sure sex falls under that category." Amy protested.

"I still want to be careful with you. We should wait awhile longer." Calvin argued.

"For a man who was once a playboy, you sure do have a lot of restraint." She grumbled. Calvin laughed.

"This is different. I actually love you. You aren't a fling, you're my wife and I want to take care of you well." Calvin told her.

"I'm going to pay someone to drug your wine tonight." She muttered.

Calvin laughed loudly.

Uncle Arthur announced that Andrew Xiao had arrived. Cora hurried to the living room where he was waiting. He turned and smiled at her.

"Hi, Beauty." He greeted her.

Cora felt herself blush but couldn't help smiling in return.

"What are you doing here?" She asked.

"I've come to take you to the party." He told her.

"Oh! I assumed I'd ride with Gordon and Charlotte and meet you there. This is a nice surprise!" Cora was pleased.

"I'll take as much time with you as I can get. Are you ready?" He asked.

"Yes, I'm ready."

He led her to his car and helped her in. After he was in the car, he leaned in to buckle Cora's seatbelt. He was so close she could've kissed him. So she did.

Andrew froze and pulled back.

"Are you sure, Cora?" He asked. She nodded and smiled. He'd been so patient with her after she shared her past with him, but she had come so far, and she wanted him to know she was ready for more from the man she trusted and loved.

He leaned back in and initiated a gentle kiss. As she responded, he deepened it. When they finally broke apart they were both breathless.

"Cora, I love you so much.

Edward walked into the banquet hall. There were round tables throughout the room with guests sitting around them.

He noticed Gordon and his wife and moved in their direction.

"Edward! Sit here." Gordon motioned to the empty seat between himself and...Sara. Edward sat down and immediately felt himself tense up.

Cora sat on the other side of Sara and complimented Sara's dress.

"Thank you. Your sister helped me pick it out." Sara smiled.

Edward sucked in a breath. Why had she never smiled like that in front of him? Oh yeah, probably because recently he had bordered on rude every time he spoke with her.

He couldn't help but notice the curve hugging red dress she wore. He swallowed hard. He'd never seen her dressed up like this. As if men didn't look at her enough!

"Sara can I ask you a personal question?" Cora said.

"Sure." Said Sarah.

"Would you ever consider dating and marriage again?" Cora asked.

Edward tightened his hands subconsciously.

"I Absolutely would, if the right man were interested she told Cora."

Edward let go of a breath he didn't realize he'd been holding.

"The reason I ask is, there's a professor at my college. He's mid-thirties, never married. He's really nice and he's good looking too! I think you two would hit it off. Would you be opposed to a blind date?" Cora shared with her.

Edward's heart sank.

"We're going to be really busy with a new product launch soon. She'll be working overtime so I don't think she'll have a lot of free time." Edward rushed to say before Sara could answer.

Everyone at their table was staring at him. Sara was glaring at him. She turned to Cora.

"If he's interested then I could meet him on a Saturday. I don't work on Saturdays." Sara shot him an irritated look with her last sentence as if daring him to say something.

He gritted his teeth but kept his mouth shut. Sara spoke to everyone at the table that night except for him. She was ignoring him! How dare she!

Michael and Rachel announced their son's Chinese name, Fu Li Chang. They carried him around the room to introduce him at each table while guests gave red packets for the baby.

"I remember when Bella was tiny like that!" Sara said wistfully.

"Maybe if you and Professor Bai hit it off you can have another little baby one day." Cora teased.

The thought of Sara's stomach swollen with another man's child made his blood boil.

"Just a few more months until our daughter will arrive." Gordon said, hugging Charlotte close.

"Calvin, you and Amy are next right?" Andrew teased.

"We can work on that once I'm satisfied that Amy has healed well enough." Calvin said smiling.

"Right now he's treating me like I'm the baby. I'd much rather work on making one." Amy complained. Calvin chocked on his champagne, shocked at how plainly his wife spoke in mixed company. No one was offended though.

"Let me see your phone. I'll add professor Bai to your WeChat." Cora said to Sara.

When Sara got her phone back she looked at his profile picture.

"Wow! He's really good looking! Why isn't he married yet?" Sara exclaimed.

Edward wanted to punch a wall. He didn't want to hear Sara talking about how good looking another man was. How dare she carry on like that in front of him like that!
