65 The Firecracker

Charlotte had just witnessed her husband's cousins mistreating Amy and went in their direction with the intent of helping Amy, but before she reached them, she heard Amy's brutal response that managed to shut both young men's mouths.

Charlotte was surprised but proud of her. She hooked her arm in Amy's and led her away from them. She could feel Amy trembling.

"What's wrong?" Charlotte asked.

"What if Calvin finds out about what I said to his sons?" She asked.

"Probably be proud of the fact you publicly admitted how much he satisfies you in bed." Charlotte teased with a straight face.

"No, really. I insulted them publicly and caused them to lose face. Won't he think it's not my right to discipline his sons?" She reasoned.

"What I heard was you defending yourself against their false accusations. There's nothing wrong with that, Amy." Charlotte assured her.

Charlotte led her to a table where Cora and Andrew sat.

"Amy, this is my sister, Cora Xia and her fiancé, Andrew Xiao." Charlotte said.

Once she realized Amy would be fine with them she went in search of Gordon. She had to get him to speak to Calvin because she knew Amy wouldn't tell him.

As it happened, she found them together. Did the sun rise in the west that day?!

——————————

Calvin was discussing the information regarding Amy's attacker with Gordon. Their men were able to locate the headquarters for the Red Vipers and they needed to decide on a strategy.

Calvin noticed Charlotte approaching them. Thank goodness he no longer felt a surge of attraction in her presence. Not since meeting Amy.

"I'm glad I found the two of you together!" She said and proceeded to recount to them about the things Anthony and Richard had said to Amy. He felt rage come over him. How dare they mistreat his woman?

Then Charlotte shared Amy's award-worthy response and Calvin could feel himself smiling. He felt proud of her. Proud that she stood up for herself and proud she had announced to everyone in hearing distance how good he pleased her in bed. He wished he could drag her upstairs to a hotel room and act upon the things she had described.

He was pulled back to the present when he heard Charlotte's next words. Amy was afraid he'd be angry at her for educating his shameless sons. Angry was the last thing he felt about her, but he was angry at his sons' insolence.

"I'll take car of it. Thank you, Charlotte." He said.

He sought out his two sons and demanded they follow him out of the banquet hall. Then he immediately turned and slammed them both in the face. The two boys looked in shock at their father.

"If you harass or degrade my wife again I will not spare either of you!" Calvin yelled.

He turned to walk away when Anthony said, "It's no surprise that you put one of your women above your own flesh and blood."

"She is my only woman. In her I've found what I'd been looking for all along. And no one will take her away." Calvin informed them.

——————————

While the Zhou family and their guests were sitting down for a meal in the banquet hall, the door burst open and in strutted Julia. Calvin face palmed. Why was his ex wife here?

Julia strutted to Grandma Stella and handed her a small box as her gift.

Grandma Stella frowned. "Why are you here?" Stella asked.

"Can't I wish my mother-in-law a happy birthday?" She asked.

"I'm not your mother-in-law anymore. I have a new daughter-in-law." Stella was rarely rude but for Julia she'd make an exception.

Oh Julia knew Gordon had remarried. She'd had people follow him after the divorce and he led them right to that woman! From there she'd focused her efforts on scaring Amy but the men she paid obviously hadn't succeeded in driving her away.

Julia strode across the room to stand before Amy. "Good evening, Home wrecker!" Julia said loudly. The room became eerily silent as all eyes turned to Julia and Amy.

Amy was well and truly mad now. Her fear was gone, but pure, white hot, anger filled her belly.

"I'm sure you did a great job wrecking your home without any help from me! But I met my husband after your divorce finalized. I am innocent in this matter." Amy had raised her voice and everyone heard her clearly.

"Innocent?! You stole my husband from a twenty-five year marriage! You are guilty!" Julia screamed, tearing at her hair.

"I didn't steal him. I didn't end your marriage. You did an excellent job running it into the ground yourself!" Amy remained calm

Calvin now reached them and pulled Amy into his embrace.

"Stay away from my wife. Get out of here!" Calvin's words held no warmth.

——————————

Later that night when Calvin and Amy arrived home Calvin told her, "Amy we need to have a talk." He said.

Amy flinched. There it was.

"I understand my sons treated you poorly." He stated, looking for her response.

"Yes, sir." She felt herself backing away from him.

"I also heard you announced to everyone in hearing distance that I make you come over and over again in bed." He continued.

"Yes." She whispered.

"And you yelled back at Julia at my family's event." He had stated the obvious.

Amy's head lowered.

Calvin gripped her by her upper arms.

"I'm so proud of you. It should've been me putting them on notice about you. But you were like a strong warrior. You are my firecracker. Hot in bed and hot in battle. And shining brightly in my heart." Calvin told her.

"I was worried." She said softly.

"Don't ever be afraid of me, Amy. You'll never disappoint me. Now, what do you say we make each other come until we're screaming each other's names? I haven't been able to get those glorious words out of my mind since you said them earlier today."
