53 The Discovery

Charlotte woke slowly, confused at first about the unfamiliar surroundings but then she remembered. Gordon had come for her. He loved her and was faithful to her. She still felt embarrassed about how she'd misunderstood the situation.

"Good morning, Love." Gordon's voice, already on the low register, was even deeper with sleepiness. It sent chills down her spine. She moved closer to him and wrapped her arms around him.

"I'm so glad you're here with me." She told him.

After a few minutes they both got and dressed. Gordon ordered English breakfast to be sent to their room.

"What are your plans for today?" Charlotte asked.

"I thought we could see some of the sites of London. Have you ever been here?" He asked.

"I haven't, so your idea sounds great." Charlotte said.

They visited Buckingham Palace during the changing of the guard. They saw Big Ben, the huge clock tower, and walked Trafalgar Square.

"What should we eat for lunch?" Charlotte asked?

"We should go to a pub and let you try fish and chips." Gordon said.

They found one and were seated.

"So, why did you run to London of all places, if you've never been here?" Gordon asked after their order was taken.

"I was awarded a scholarship for multidisciplinary achievements. I was supposed to go abroad to London for my college education with it, but Mommy was sick and I didn't dare go far. I thought if I were going to leave and could go anywhere that I may as well come here now. Besides, it's a big place. I didn't think you'd find me here." Charlotte admitted.

"I'll find you no matter where you go. I'll always come for you." Gordon told her.

"I don't want to leave you anymore." Charlotte said.

"What's wrong?" Amy asked Calvin.

"I'm your new boss." He said helplessly.

Her eyes widened in shock and then horror.

"Oh my gosh, I flirted with my boss and even kissed him. Oh crap! We even slept together. Crap." She fussed with herself.

Calvin's lips twitched. "I do apologize."

"No! Don't apologize! I just think I need to quit now." Amy said quickly.

"I won't make things hard on you. I'll be professional. Don't worry about that." He promised.

"That's why I need to quit." She said under her breath.

"Come again?" He asked.

"I...when I came over to the bar and saw you, I purposely sat with you. You seemed burdened. Sad even. I wanted to see you smile. Weird, right? I just hate to see people sad. But then I saw how handsome you were with those gray streaks in your hair and you finally smiled and I knew I was in trouble. Then we kissed and it felt like you pulled my soul from my body. And to wake up here and realize what a gentleman you are and how kind you were to take care of me...well, you're like the perfect man. So I can't work for you! I do not have that kind of self control! Maybe you can act professional but I know me. You'd probably end up firing me. I think I need to just forget it and submit my resumes to other companies. I'm sorry about this mess I put us in." Amy said.

She was already up and rushing around the room. She grabbed her dress and ran to the washroom.

Calvin sat in a stupor, trying to process everything she said.

That little girl just confessed she liked him, and that was the reason she couldn't work for him? A slow grin spread across his face. He hadn't felt this alive in two decades.

She came out of the washroom dressed in the dress she had worn to the club. She grabbed her clutch, and then turned to him.

"Thank you for everything. It was nice to meet you." She said.

"If I promise not to behave professionally, would you reconsider working for me?" He asked suddenly.

"W—What?" She asked.

Calvin stood and quickly crossed the room to her. She backed up he approached. She finally backed into the wall and had to stop.

"I'm not a good man, Amy. Far from it. Some call me a womanizer. Some call me a playboy. But no one calls me good. I can be just as unprofessional as you'd like." He said, leaning in until their noses almost touched.

He leaned in and kissed her hard. To his surprise, she immediately responded, her little soft hands cupping his face. After they broke apart awhile later, she still held his face.

"I don't believe you. I don't care how many women you've had, you hadn't met the right one. But deep down, you are a good man. Otherwise I wouldn't be walking out of here with my virginity." She said earnestly.

"Who says when you walk out you'll still have it?" Calvin picked her up and tossed her on the bed. She squealed in surprise but made no move to escape. He crawled on top of her, kissing her over and over again. His hands exploring her body.

"Do you still think I'm such a good man?" He whispered in her ear and then bit her earlobe.

"You won't change my mind about that. But you're going to be late for work if we don't stop." Amy told him.

"We'll just continue this in my office, on top of my desk!" calvin laughed.
