32 The Ceremony

The day of the wedding ceremony had come. Charlotte was helped into a beautiful, white wedding gown by Rachel and Cora. Mary, who was now wheelchair dependent, sat nearby with a gentle smile on her face as she watched her daughter's preparations. She thought of her late husband, and how proud he would be of Charlotte if he were here.

A soft knock at the door caused everyone to pause. Cora opened the door to reveal Anna and Grandma Stella.

"Gordon sends a gift to Charlotte. May we come in?" Anna asked

Cora made way for them.

Grandma Stella extended a beautiful bouquet of red roses.

"There are eleven roses, to represent that you are his world—that he will love only you, now and forever." Grandma Stella explained.

Charlotte's eyes reddened with unshed tears.

"You can't cry now! You'll ruin your makeup!" Rachel scolded.

There was a knock at her door again. Outside were Andrew, Michael, and Robert. Cora, Rachel, and Anna took the arms of their men, while Grandma Stella took control of Mary's wheelchair.

Now it was only Charlotte left, waiting for Gordon. She wasn't sure why she was nervous. After all, they were already married. However, today it would be made known in a very public way. Gordon and his family were very well known in the city and Gordon's business was a worldwide success. An invitation to their wedding had been coveted.

Now she knew where her fear came from. She was afraid to stand in front of so many important people. What if she embarrassed Gordon or his family? What if—

Her thoughts were cut off as a soft knock came.

She stood and smoothed her dress. It was time.

—————————

The door slowly opened and Gordon sucked in his breath. Charlotte stood before him. His Charlotte.

She wore a solid white gown that hugged her curves well. Her hair was piled on top of her head in a graceful manner. Her makeup was perfect and she held her rose bouquet in one hand. He took her other hand and tucked it into the crook of his arm, then he looked down at her.

"You are the most beautiful woman I have ever seen." He breathed.

"You're quite handsome yourself." Charlotte smiled up at him, then gently traced his jaw with her knuckles.

He walked arm in arm with her to the banquet hall entrance.

"Ready to make this public?" She asked softly.

"Absolutely." Gordon replied.

Music began to play and the doors were opened. They glided down the aisle. They really were a striking couple; Charlotte with her warm, graceful smile and Gordon with his cold, straight face.

A few of Gordon's business associates watched in wonder.

"For the life of me, I don't see how Gordon Zhou managed to marry a woman like her. She's beautiful and seems to be outgoing. How did he ever coax her into marriage?" One of them asked.

The other man shrugged his shoulders.

The Emcee was welcoming everyone to the ceremony. Then the couple made their vows and kissed. As Charlotte began to pull back, Gordon wrapped his arms around her and deepened the kiss. There were a few chuckles from the crowd. Charlotte's face was red but she wore a beautiful smile as Gordon led her out.

"We have to change for the banquet now." Charlotte said.

Gordon followed her into the tiny room. She started to unzip the zippier. On her dress but couldn't reach it.

Gordon wordlessly brushed her hand away as he freed her zipper. At the sight of her exposed skin, he nuzzled his face in her neck. He began to gently kiss her neck and shoulders.

Her breathing became labored, As her wedding dress had finally been tossed aside. His hands began to roam her body. He stopped to undress himself and then hurriedly pulled her back.

"Gordon, they're expecting our appearance." Charlotte warned.

"Put your legs around my hips." He commanded.

She silently obeyed. He backed her up to a table for support, then started moving his hands over her body again, paying special attention to caress and squeeze her nipples. She couldn't suppress her moans.

He fisted the hair at the nape of her neck to pull her head back. He kissed her with a possessive fire. Then without warning, he entered her, thrusting deep. A few moments later she screamed in ecstasy.

——————————

"I wonder what's keeping them?" Robert asked.

"I don't know, but don't worry, they'll be here soon." Anna said gently.

"I'll go look for them." Andrew volunteered. Cora left with him. They checked as they went and finally ended up in front of the dressing rooms.

Suddenly, a loud scream split the already ambiguous atmosphere.

Andrew almost rushed in but then they heard, "You're so good at this, Little One." It was Gordon's voice. He was panting.

"You're amazing yourself." Charlotte said sincerely with a breathless voice.

Andrew and Cora looked at each other. Cora rolled her eyes.

"Those two can't keep their hands off of each other." She said in peeved tone.

Andrew laughed softly. "Well they haven't been married long. I hear it's an enjoyable part of married life." He said as he led her back to the banquet hall.

"Right. Like you don't know from experience." Cora said sarcastically.

Andrew stopped. "Why would you think I have experience?" He asked.

"You're twenty-nine. I just assumed you'd been intimate with past relationships." Cora said simply.

"Cora, I've only had one serious girlfriend in the past and I never took it far enough for sex." He explained.

"Oh." Cora said in a soft voice. "Sorry I assumed."

"It's okay. I'm serious about you, Cora. I want us to share our firsts together." He explained.

Cora froze but kept silent. She forced a smile and nodded.

———————————

The banquet was lovely and the bride and groom finally made an appearance eventually.

Everyone wanted to greet them and talk. By the end up the evening Charlotte could barely stand.
