191 Short Story: The Angel's Busy Morning

[Noah's Perspective]

After I got off the phone with Alevian; or should I say, Alvelyn since he's now a girl; I got dressed in my school uniform. As I exited my room while adjusting my tie, I was greeted with the not-so-usual yet usual morning scene.

Ralus, for some reason, has been living with us for a few days now, and ever since his arrival, Emilia just appeared to be...on edge for some reason. Like the mornings before, there's something going on between the two of them.

"S-stay away from me," Emilia's voice trembled somewhat as she pressed her back against the wall and away from Ralus's outreached arm. On her blushing face, there was a look of uncertainty and nervousness.

"What's wrong with you?" Ralus appeared quite confused by Emilia's actions, and so was I. He took a step towards Emilia, but Emilia appeared to be quite frightened by his advance and made a great deal of effort to get away from him. "Noah," Ralus said when he saw me exit my room. "You know what's wrong?"

"Nope," I responded as I walked towards the dining table, masterly avoiding colliding with Emilia and Ralus in their chase around the dining table.

I sat down in my seat and grabbed the piece of toast on the plate before me and began applying strawberry jam from the jar onto my toast using a butter knife. After covering the side of the toast, I took a bite from it and washed it down with some warm milk from my cup, all while ignoring the commotion that was going on around me. I've gotten quite used to this scene now, so I'm not affected by it much.

"I've got you now," I heard Ralus's voice whisper so I turned in my chair and looked over.

There, Ralus had grabbed onto Emilia's left wrist with his right hand and pinned Emilia against the wall with his left hand pressed against the side of her face so that she was unable to escape. They were already close in distance, which was one factor that I had noticed caused the odd behavior and the blushing in Emilia, but Ralus had leaned his face forward towards Emilia's. Emilia tried her best to back away, but since her back was against a wall, she had nowhere to run.

"What's wrong? Do you have a fever or something?"

Ralus then leaned his face even closer to Emilia's causing her to close her eyes as if in fear. Instead of doing harm to her, Ralus simply gently pressed his forehead against her's, trying to see if her temperature was too high. Emilia's trembling eyelids soon opened when she felt the touch, and when she saw how close Ralus's face was and how his eyes were gazing into her's, her face became an even brighter color of red.

"It's quite warm," Ralus frowned.

"Get away from me," Emilia snapped and pushed Ralus away before she ran away once again to hide next to me, using me as a barrier that separated her from Ralus.

"What's wrong?" Ralus sighed and asked me. "Did I do something?"

"I don't know," I said after swallowing the scrambled eggs on my fork. "But you are the cause of this."
