246 Lazy Day Pt.4

[Alevian's Perspective]

I exited through the front door, gently closing the door behind me. Since Alvelyn will be home, I technically don't have to lock the door. This building has relatively good security, so home burglaries have never been an issue, but it never hurts to lock one's home doors.

I checked the message that Noah had sent me on my phone, confirming with the text what floor his place of residence was located on as I walked over to the elevator door and tapped gently on the touchscreen monitor beside the door. I touched my finger to the down prompt on the screen, and waited as the elevator started climbing to my floor.

I kept my eyes fixed on the digital display at the top of the elevator door that showed which floor the elevator was on, and watched as the number rapidly climbed to forty-eight. After about forty seconds or so, the door slowly slid open. The elevator was empty, which was to be expected during this time of the day. It is approaching noon on a weekday, so most people are out at work.

I boarded the elevator and chose the desired floor on the touchscreen within the elevator. The elevator door then slowly closed as it began the descent with a calming and melodic elevator music playing in the background with a digital monitor framed against the wall near the top of the elevator displaying the current temperature outside and the time of day.

I got off on the floor that Noah had messaged me about, and when I stepped out of the elevator, I looked around, taking in the layout of the unfamiliar floor. In this building, the upper levels have bigger houses, so two units per floor. But on the lower floors where the homes are smaller, there are three homes per floor. So, I checked my phone once again to make sure which door I was supposed to knock on.

"2902," I muttered as I looked up from my phone and surveyed the hallway, searching for the digital doorplate that has the unit number displayed on it. With only three doors to look, it wasn't long before I found the door that I was searching for.

I walked up to the door and pressed the button to ring the doorbell. It didn't take long until there came the sound of slow footsteps coming from the opposite side of the door and for the door to swing open. It was Noah who had opened the door, and he greeted me with a carefree smile on his face.

"Finally here, huh?" he said as he stepped aside and allowed me to enter. "Treat it like its your own home."

"I won't be so reserved with you angels," I said as I entered, taking off my shoes habitually by the door. Judging by the placement of the shoe cabinet by the door, it would appear that they have a custom of taking off their shoes in doors even though they are angels.

"If we don't take off our shoes," Noah explained as if he was able to read my mind, "Emilia would make us mop the floor."

"So she mops the floor usually?" I glanced over at him and asked in a lazy manner.

"Yeah," Noah sighed.

"That's because none of you will actually do it," a familiar woman's voice said.

Looking over at the source of the voice, I saw once again the same mysterious figure of the female angel that was once assigned to me following Ralus. Upon seeing her, I recognized something different from her aura from before. It was more...human. In that empty expression characterized by a slight frown, I could sense something from it...Emotions...

"Welcome," Emilia nodded and smiled slightly to greet me. "Go have a seat."

I looked over in the direction she turned her head in and saw the couches in the living room. Following her suggestion, I walked over and sat down. These couches...looking rather stylish in design, were rather comfortable.

"So," I asked, "why did you call me up here?"

"Well," Noah said as he sat down in the other couch to my left. "Don't you have any questions?"

I glanced over my shoulder and watched as Emilia walked around the couch with crossed arms before her chest and took a seat next to me, crossing her legs, which was rather weird to me for some reason as there were an open single couch to my right and opposite of Noah.

"I suppose Alevian here doesn't have anything in mind?" a man's voice said to my right, and when I glanced over, I realized that Ralus had taken a seat beside me to my right.

I also was perplexed by why he chose to sit next to me when there was an open single couch available, but I kept quiet. For some reason, I didn't awfully mind it. Emilia sitting to my left and Ralus sitting on my right, for some reason, it felt oddly nostalgic. Almost as if there was a comforting warmth in my heart.

"Just like old times?" Ralus looked past me and chuckled to Emilia.

Emilia didn't respond as she sat there with her eyes closed. However, I can swear I saw a slight reddening on her cheeks, almost as if she was...blushing.

Is she...embarrassed about something?

"So," Ralus then looked over at me. "You have any questions?"

"Well..." I creased my brows as I began searching my mind for something to inquire about. With nothing much on my mind other than the vision I was seeing lately, I decided to inquire about that. "These days," I said, beginning my question. "Like...at the Asylum, when I was unconscious, I saw this...almost dreamlike vision. It was...so real, as if it's reality. What was it?"

"Visions?" Ralus smiled in a mysterious manner. However, I could tell that he seemed pretty satisfied for some reason.

"Yeah," I nodded.

"You have any guesses?" Ralus asked me.

I stared into his different colored eyes, trying to decipher what it was that was on his mind. However, I was unable to get anything. It seems that I just simply cannot read what angels are thinking.

With a sigh, I gave up and decided to go along with him.

"In the vision...they called my name," I started. "And I also felt...emotions from it...Is the dream...a vision of my previous life?"

"Correct," Ralus nodded.

"So that means...Muria was my wife?" I asked in an astonished manner.

"Yup," Noah interjected. "Does that change how you view her now?"

"I..." I sighed as I slowly regained my composure. "I don't know... But by the way," I glared at the boy. "Did you know about the Warden and this vision I'll be having the whole time?"

"No!" Noah quickly explained. "I was scared just as shitless as you all!"

"Then..." I looked over at Emilia, who returned my gaze with a somewhat troubled expression on her face.

"I didn't plan it," she sighed and said.

"I didn't either," Ralus quickly added in. "It's merely a coincidence."

"Coincidence?" I looked over at Ralus, trying to see if he was telling the truth. However, like before, I wasn't able to determine anything. "But to think that I was married with Muria my previous life..." I sighed and leaned back on the couch, resting my head.

"It's not only that one life," Emilia explained. "There's plenty more."

"Plenty...more?" I glanced over at her.

"Correct," she nodded.

"Can you guys tell me about them?" I sat up and asked. The response I got was not what I had wanted. All three of them simply shook their head.

"We're not allowed to reveal anything," Noah explained.

"I guessed so," I sighed and said. "But at least that confirmed something."

I thought back on the phantoms that I had saw the day before when everyone was gathered in my room. Those phantoms...then are they of people I've known in my previous lives? It all just...it's just confusing and it hurts my head to try and figure it out.

"Anything else?" Noah asked me.

"No," I said as I stood up.

"You're leaving already?" Ralus asked as he watched me make my way over to the doorway.

As I was slipping on my shoes, all three of the angels were at the door, seeing me off.

"Why don't you stay for some food?" Noah suggested.

"I'm fine," I said, rejecting the offer.

"Well," Noah sighed. "If you're so intent on leaving, see you then."

I nodded as I opened the door and stepped out.

"Oh and stop by from time to time," Noah called out to me as I pressed the prompt on the touchscreen to call the elevator.

I looked over in Noah's direction and into the opened doorway.

"Ralus and Emilia really likes it when you—" Noah was about to say something, but his mouth was covered by a blushing Emilia's hand, muffling his words.

I frowned in confusion as I was unsure as to what he was going to say, but Ralus quickly closed the door, leaving me no opportunity to inquire further. Oh well. I will have the opportunity in the future if I can remember. Besides, it's nothing that particularly interested me.

The elevator quickly arrived on the floor that I am on after that. However, when the elevator door parted open, I realized that the elevator wasn't empty. Gazing at me with a surprised expression was Muria, who was dressed in a casual outfit. Judging by the plastic bag in her hands, she must've went to a nearby convenience store of some sort.

"Good afternoon," she said to me after quickly regaining her usual self.

I simply nodded in response as I stepped into the elevator. I glanced over at the touchscreen where one would choose the floor to travel to, and seeing that Muria had chosen the floor that we lived on, I didn't have to do anything. So, I simply stood there and waited for the door to close before it took us up to our floor.

The ride up was rather upward as a silent cloud loomed over the two of us. She didn't say anything and neither did I. I glanced over at her, taking in the beautiful profile of her face.

She was my wife in my previous life...

I took a deep breath as I felt my face becoming warmer. In my chest, I could hear and feel my heart palpitate.

The elevator soon brought us to our floor, and we each stepped out and towards our own respective doors. With a silent sigh, I reached my hand toward the fingerprint sensor to unlock the door.

"Um," I heard Muria's voice call me in a somewhat uncertain manner.

I turned my body slightly and looked over at her. Her face was somewhat red as she appeared rather nervous. Her left hand was holding onto the handles of the plastic bag, and her free hand was up near her chest, almost as if she was unsure as to where to put it. Her eyes peeked over at me, but they quickly bounced away as if out of shyness, an expression that was rather alluring.

"Thank you," she finally said out loud, thanking me once again. Then, she opened the door leading to her house and disappeared after she closed the door, leaving me standing alone with my good hand on the door handle leading to my house.

With a smile, I opened the door to my house and entered. Slowly, I allowed the door to close, feeling a rather pleasant feeling of serenity in my chest.
