34 GTFO Please

When Loriana returned home, we were ready for it. Emilia had already retreated to my room and had promised to remain silent. Therefore, all that was left for me to do was to prevent Loriana from heading to my room. It was a task that wasn't too difficult since Loriana isn't the talkative type. She would usually leave me undisturbed except for special circumstances. For example, one time she had to knock on my door to wake me up for school since I had forgot to charge my phone the night before and it ran out battery, making it so that my alarm did not ring.

It was around 8:00 PM that night when the door opened, revealing Loriana who was dressed in her work clothes. However, someone was behind her. It was someone that I had seen before but not the person who I had seen Loriana spend time with.

"So this is your house?" the familiar looking man said nervously as he looked around.

"Sit anywhere," Loriana said as she walked by the couch. "This is Alevian," she introduced me. "My nephew."

"Oh," Markus's facial expression betrayed that he had felt a sense of relief after learning of my identity. "Hello. I'm Markus. Your aunt's coworker."

"Okay..." I eyed him with suspicion.

I remembered that I had used that item I bought from the Socialization app store to alter the memories of Loriana and all her coworkers that had saw me that day. Therefore, Markus does not have any memory of seeing me in the past, meaning that to him, this was our first meeting.

"Hello..." Markus's voice trailed off as he sensed that the atmosphere was becoming awkward.

"Sit down," Loriana said to Markus and then started for her room so as to set her purse down in her room.

"..."

Markus and I sat there in the living room on far ends of the couch. We were dead silent, with the only sound coming from the television. I browsed a forum on my phone, not caring about whether or not Markus felt welcomed. Like it's not problem whether he felt any hospitality. Therefore, I left him sitting there tense on the couch.

"Um..." Markus tried to start a conversation. "What school are you going to right now, Alevian?"

"Nocsinis Imperial High."

I responded in the simplest manner possible, not wanting to make any unnecessary conversation. I wasn't in the mood for it. To be honest, I felt quite weird that Loriana brought a man to our house. Like in the past, the only people I saw even near our house is her two friends, Cheral and Yerith. Therefore, I felt somewhat irritated at the moment.

"What grade are you in?" Markus continued his desperate attempts at conversing.

"Second year."

"Have you thought about what college you want to attend?" Markus continued to ask.

"No." I responded in an assertive voice so as to ensure that no further conversation could be started between the two of us.

He fidgeted quite nervously as he sat there. Obviously, he wasn't mentally prepared to go to Loriana's house, and I wasn't even sure what circumstances led to him being here. If I recall correctly, he has a hidden crush on Loriana... So maybe that's why he's so nervous. I mean if it is me I would be nervous to.

Loriana soon emerged from her room, walking elegantly back to the living room area while still dressed in her work clothes. She probably doesn't want to make Markus feel to uncomfortable. Maybe that's why. She focused her fatigued eyes on the television, watching the news that was playing at the time. She appeared to be the same as before, although just slightly more tired in appearance. However, when I see her though, I was still reminded of that night, which made me look away in shame.

"Have you ate yet?" I asked Loriana. "There's still some in the pan."

Loriana nodded, indicating to me that she had heard what I was saying. She then walked over to the stove, lifted the lid off the pan, and peeked into it. She then took hold of the spatula and began locating the fried rice onto the nearby bowl-plate that I had set down on the counter earlier.

"You hungry, Markus?" Loriana asked Markus.

"I'm fine," Markus immediately straightened his back as he tensed his entire body when talked to by Loriana. That, is what I call the epitome of what happens when your crush talks to you.

"Thanks, Alevian," Loriana placed the lid back onto the pan and walked away with a plate of food.

"No problem," I muttered.

As Loriana walked over to the dining table with her plate of food, I got up from my seat on the couch and walked over towards her. She looked over at me as I approached her, and when I leaned close to her ear, she merely listened to what I had to say.

"So...why is he here?" I whispered into her ear.

"I was going thank him for taking me home that day when I was out drinking with my coworkers, and since he declined the suggestion of a meal on me, I thought that a cup of tea on me would suffice for him. And he agreed."

I peered over at Markus and sighed. So, that memory altering thing that I did replaced the memory of me being the one who had taken Loriana home to Markus taking her home. What the hell? I hope this doesn't lead to anything bad.

I frowned, allowing myself to erect to my full height. I looked over at Markus, who sat there on the couch watching the news program that was being played.

"You don't like him?" Loriana whispered as she looked into my eyes.

"No," I rubbed the back of my head. "It's just that...this is the first guy that you've brought home,"

"Jealous?"

"No."

"Lonely?" She then asked.

"No," I shook my head. "I'm quite used to it too be honest."

I didn't realize what I had just said and when I realized, I immediately looked over at Loriana to discover a disappointed frown on her face usually apathetic face.

"I'm sorry," she said, setting her spoon down on the plate. "But my job..."

"I know," I said.

Loriana seemed to be deep in thought as our conversation ended there. I wasn't sure what she was thinking so I decided that it would be best if I were to retreat to my room for the time being. Besides, Emilia might be quite bored being alone for that long.

"I'll be in my room," I placed my hand on her shoulder and whispered.

I then walked over to my room, careful to close the door quickly due to my fear of anyone seeing Emilia in my room. I looked over at her as she sat on my bed, using eye contact to tell her that Loriana was in fact home and that we would have to be quiet.

"Looks like someone else is here as well besides Loriana," she smiled.

"Your angel powers telling you that?"

We spoke with a soft whisper that was only audible to us. It wasn't that quiet of a voice because the walls were quite good at cancelling out noise. Because of this, we were able to converse quite normally.

I stretched my back and sat down on my computer chair. I pressed the button to turn on my PC and then proceeded to spin around on my computer chair as I waited for the machine to turn on. After about a few seconds, the monitor lit up. I had picked out this PC a year ago because of its relatively high specs when compared to other PCs. Therefore, I wasn't that surprised by the fast boot up time.

"So," Emilia said to me. "Who is it?"

"Loriana's coworker," I said without turning my eyes away from the monitor screen as I opened the web browser Gooogle Chrome.

"It seems that something's bothering you about that person," Emilia concluded. "Is it a man?"

"Yeah," I responded in a somewhat irritated voice.

"Does it happen to be someone whose memory you had altered?"

"..." I paused what I was doing and just sat there, staring at my PC monitor.

"Did the course of events not go in your liking?" Emilia then asked.

"Something like that."

I sighed and turned the chair so that I was looking at Emilia. I observed that pretty face of hers that emitted a mysterious aura, once again accepting the fact that I wasn't able to see through her light violet eyes and see whatever it was that she was thinking. She's just so mysterious to me. Like what does she do on her spare time? What was she doing a few moments earlier when I was outside and talking to Loriana? Did she for real just sit here and stare into empty space?

"What were you doing when I was out there?" I asked.

I was genuinely curious as to what an angel would do in their free time. Like it must be something that's super holy or something, or else what's the difference between angels and humans? Well...I did see God play video games...and that this world that I live in is just his school project...So I shouldn't get my hopes too high.

She appeared quite surprised that I had inquired her about what she was doing. However, she still showed me without much complaints. She revealed to me that she was, in fact, on her phone like any other human being.

"Why is it that I'm not surprised at all?" I sighed and buried my face into my left palm. "I shouldn't be expecting much from you divines from now on."

"Why's that?"

"Because you're on your phone," I explained to her my disappointment. "I thought you angels would be different from us humans."

"Well..." Emilia looked quite shameful after hearing my expectations for her kind.

"Forget it."

I sighed and rested my head against my computer desk. I gazed out the sliding glass door in my room that led to my balcony and at the city outside. I had intentionally not draw the curtains all the way so that I could always catch a glimpse of the beautiful nighttime skyline outdoors.

"You're not in a good mood?" She set her phone down on my bed, got up, and walked to the computer desk so that she leaned over me.

"I don't know." I let out a sigh. "It's just that...I don't even know what o do anymore. Because I haven't seen Loriana for almost two days, I thought that I was able to put down the guilt now. But when I see her I still...I still can't forget what I had done to her. I had taken advantage of her when she's not conscious..."

"..." Emilia stood there and listened to me in silence.

"What should I do?" I ran my hands through my hair. "I don't even know."

"You must treasure her a lot if it's making you have such a deep internal conflict," Emilia chuckled.

I looked over at her and discovered that she was lifting the curtains to the side and stared out the sliding glass door and at the skyline outside. From my angle, the glass door reflected her face, and within the reflection I saw a sense of sadness like the one I had seen a day earlier in her.

Looks like Emilia has a past of herself that troubles her. Well...it's not in my position to ask to help her, so...I think I'll just keep quiet.

"I'm feeling quite thirsty," I said to her. "So I'll be leaving to grab me some water. Would you like one?"

"Sure," she smiled.

I exited the room and turned in the direction of the living room. My destination was kitchen refrigerator, which harbored the water jug. To get there I will have to pass by the living room where Markus and Loriana was located at. I sighed as I realized that although this journey will be short, it will also be quite long at the same time.

I emerged from the hallway and into the living room. There, I saw that Loriana and Markus were both sitting on the couch. They sat quite close to each other, which made me quite irritated that they were doing so.

Get the hell away from her. I wanted to tell him that, but since Loriana didn't express any visible distaste, I suppressed that urge and continued on with my journey.

I passed by them without drawing much attention to myself except from a casual glance from Markus as he checked to see who it was. I opened the fridge door, grabbed the water jug, and proceeded to pour myself a glass of water.

Because it will look suspicious if I return to my room with two glasses of water, I need a way to get water to Emilia while satisfying my own thirst. I gazed at the glass of water that I held in my hands, watching the reflection of the ceiling light that casted within it. Then, without much thought, I drank the whole thing and began to pour myself a new glass.

This is the way to go. I satisfy my own thirst by drinking the water here, and then I can bring one glass of water with me back to my room for Emilia to use. That does not look suspicious at all.

As I began walking towards my room, I caught a glimpse of Loriana and Markus. Because of this, I decided that I would linger about a bit longer to make sure that he didn't try anything weird. I leaned my back against the wall and watched them, Markus particularly since he's the danger here.

He probably noticed my surveillance since he started fidgeting around even more in his seat. He uneasily peered over at me, and I returned the gaze by looking him straight in the eye with my emotionless irises. That seemed to have scared him since he immediately looked away. He checked his phone for the time and with a sigh, he looked over at Loriana.

"It's getting quite late now so I think I should go," he said with a polite smile. "Thanks for letting me come up and sit for a bit."

"You're leaving? Let me walk you to the door," Loriana suggested.

"Well..." Markus glanced over at me as if seeking permission. However, it would appear that he did not see yes written on my face so he politely rejected Loriana's suggestion. "I'm fine. I know my way out."

"Alright then," Loriana got up from her seat and saw Markus to the front door of our house. "See you Monday."

"You too." Markus then slightly bowed his head and went off on his way towards the elevators.

That's right. Get off my property.

I concealed a faint grin as I leaned against the wall, feeling much better now that he's gone.
