2 Chapter 1
Heavy blows of water on the gigantic rock. At the top of the mountain, surrounded by thick trees and grass, a white mansion is located, owned by a powerful person.
A man in his 40’s was standing in front of the window while overlooking the vast ocean. He look with coldness in his eyes without a traced of emotion. Not even blinking his eyes, he just keeps looking far away.
"Arrgh." a girl's voice echoed.
"It's good that you're awake," said the old man, with a cold voice.
The girl gets up anxiously and dreadfully turns her eyes to the old man standing in front of the large window.
"Who are you?"
The old man turned to her, just like before no emotions could be read on its face as well as in his eyes.
“Hid Samonte,” his sparingly response to her.
The old man named Hid step closer to her and reach out his hand to touch her face. Seeing this, she quickly get off the bed and compress herself into the corner of the room. She feels afraid of this person, and because of the black suit his wearing the fear she's feeling intensified even more.
She suddenly remembered what had happened to her family, their birthday, those men dressed in black while shooting at their house. She couldn't held herself and one after another, tears keep falling from her eyes.
Hid was alarmed so he tries to approach her.
"D-don't. Please don't come near me, y-you killed them," She shouted at Hid.
Hid smirked and stood up straight.
“It’s not me, it was those men in a black suit,” his cool response to her. He didn’t even minded the girl in front of him who was relentlessly grieving.
“You are one of them, you shoot me! You killed my parents. You bad people!”
“Trust me, I’m far from those thugs young lady.”
“Trust you? You shoot me and kidnapped me in here, so what would you want me to think? Thanked you because you saved me?”
Hid nodded at him.
“Yes, that should be. I shoot you because you’re planning to do a reckless move, I brought you here to my mansion to keep you away from the people who killed your family. So yes, I did really save you.”
The girl's tears seemed to dry on their own and she just burst out laughing. It makes her wonder because if it’s true that he saved her then why is she the only one? Why not with her family, with her brother who even go alone against the enemies.
She cupped his palm. Instead of being happy she felt intense anger at the person in front of her now. He should have save her brother instead of her.
“You really think that I’m easy to fool right?”
Hid's forehead furrowed as the voice of the girl he had rescued from the brink of death suddenly changed. It's only a while ago this girl is so scared but now he can hear her voice with such coldness. He stared at her intently, even the posture and the looks there are traces of that coldness.
“What do you want from me?” She asked Hid again.
“Believe me, I just wanted to save you.”
“Then you should have save my brother instead, so why me?” she shouted.
Hid turned his back. And he returned to the view out of the large window.
“The one who save me was my brother and not you. I know you up to something mister, you didn’t save me for nothing or perhaps you know who I am,” she frankly says behind the man who is now looking afar.
"Child of two famous doctors who resigned from the organization, of course I know you."
"You are not answering my question, why me?"
Hid grinned. He removed both hands from his pocket.
“You’re matured enough for someone who’s in 18 years old. I’m expecting you to break down all night long but I didn’t see this coming, you're interrogating me now. Are you perhaps a detective?”
She frowned at Hid. He’s the serious type, it can be seen in his posture and speech but now it change, it was like he become a different person. She did not like the answers he's giving because her questions had not been answered.
“What do you really want mister Hid Samonte?!” she was so annoyed.
She knew it had another purpose in saving her. She knew it wasn't just rescuing her, he’s up to something and she doesn't like it. Is he one of those men? Was he one of the killers of her family?
Unknowingly she pulled out some of her hair as the question increased in her mind. She’s afraid, now that her family is gone she doesn’t know where to go. She has no known relatives,
She did not know what’s outside the forest where they lived except in the town they often visited. She jerked out and coincidentally looked at Hid.
“Believe me when I said I just wanted to save you. I don't want anything else aside from saving both of you but I was too late and couldn’t reached your brother. I was there to catch some wild animals until I found out what’s happening with your little house. I’m sorry,” Hid bowed to her.
She was stunned by the shock. She was wrong. Sincerity can be seen in its voice as well as in its appearance but why? What if he also become targeted? What if they were located and also shot by them? It doesn’t makes sense. Who would be willing to risk his own life just to save our endangered lives? That’s absurd!
“Because you look exactly like my daughter. I saw you many times in town together with your brother, aside from catching wild animals I was hoping to see you or even a chance to hug you but I didn’t expect what happened. I am a police officer yet I was failed to protect your family, I’m sorry.”
She couldn't stop herself and started to cry. She’s seeing her father to Hid, the sincerity and longing was an evident of someone who lost someone dearly to him and she could see it all over the face in front of her.
She adjusted herself and slowly took a step closer to the man looking at her sadly. She couldn't understand herself but her hands moved voluntarily and hugged Hid tightly.
“T-thank you for saving me.”
"Atleast I still have the chance to get my vengeance to those who killed my family." She whispered in her mind.
She gently stroked Hid's back as his cry grew louder. He’s really hurt, she’s wondering how his daughter died. Could it also have a connection to the men who killed her family?
"It's alright, I’m sorry for triggering your painful past, mister.”
Hid didn't answer. He just kept on sobbing like a child while hugging her tightly. She was about to let go of him, when he said something that makes her whole system startled.
“They took your brother, Astle.”
