6 Chapter Six

Third Person's POV:

Ryan wasn't the type to back down without fighting. Because that's all he has ever known. He knew that in order to proceed in this world, you must claw at everything in sight. You must mutilate people with your fingernails because they claw you, and that's how you win.

But that's also something that has a history of knowing. He has a history of winning. He wins, no matter what. It doesn't matter how he does it, but he wins. Although as much as his obsession with winning is admirable, it's equally terrifying to see the extent he would go to, just to taste victory. He would destroy anything that hinders his progress, even if that's his own family.

It's simple — he would stop at nothing. And that makes him a terrifying person.

Ever since he was a kid, he had a major obsession with winning. He never liked the second place. More so, he thought that second place was for losers. Second place isn't special. It's like every other spot. What makes you special is being at the top. Even aș a kid, his family couldn't comprehend his unparalleled obsession with winning.

It so happens, this one time, his 4th-grade classmate beat him at a sports competition. After that, all hell broke loose. Even as a fourth-grader, he was consumed by rage against losing. He beat the child to pull in front of all the parents; he did that in front of the entire school. He didn't care he was being watched or about the repercussions. He was just instinctively mad at the prospect of being the second-best— at the prospect of losing.

So he beat the kid and left him with a broken nose.

Of course, since this happened in front of the entire school ecosystem, he was suspended the very next day. The teachers thought considered it to be a childish feud between two classmates at that point, and just Ryan's luck, he was allowed back inside the school after a week of suspension.

And that wasn't just one incident. This followed, after another, after another, till he became the talk of the town; till he became the subject of everyone's undying curiosity. Safe to sat, he intrigued people. People wanted to know more about him. People wanted to be close to him just to be able to live life like him, for he was fearless.

His parents, however, were very worried. They'd never seen such display of anger — or rather a hateful emotion — by their son. They knew that their kid has issues, but all of their major nightmares took shape of reality. The reality that folded itself and carved out in front of their own eyes. It took James and Becca five years to finally make peace with their son's condition.

It was a good thing that James Crest was a wealthy man. He was a well-known man, but that comes in naturally when you're wealthy. And being as wealthy as James Crest, it would make sense why Ryan was unafraid of everything.

But that wasn't the case. It wasn't his father's never-ending pool of wealth but a series of twisted fate. While his parents ensured they kept his little 'dark' epiphany a secret, Ryan, himself, chose to steer clear of that. He hadn't fully come to terms with that, but he was adjusting.

However, being a very devoted and a reputed Christian family, they decided it'd be best to keep it a secret. They thought they'd be helping Ryan out of this mess by keeping it a secret, but unfortunately, that whole plan backfired.

Growing up, Ryan always dreamt of doing something nobody else had done. He always wanted to be different — he wanted to be recognised for his ability to be a mastermind; for his ability to be extraordinary. And it wasn't a secret that he was different.

And he knew that very well.

He grew up to be an extraordinary man. He grew up to be a man who you wouldn't be able to pass on the streets if you happened to crossways with him. He grew up to be a mesmerising man.

And today, Ryan Crest is a force to not be reckoned with.

He grew up to be unstoppable. His obsession to get the things he wanted to seek had no limit. It reached a point where if he couldn't have something, he would simply destroy it. And of course, more often than not, people would let him have his way, for they were afraid of messing with the demon himself. His green eyes proclaimed that he was the king, and people were living in his world.

With his obsession for winning, he now has a reputation that makes him sound very cold.

You don't often come across people like him. And if you're lucky, and you're very, very lucky, chances are, that someday you might. But if you're the luckiest person, then the chances are, that you could even be friends with someone with that persona.

Even as a child, he eluded sheer might and confidence.

People like him make you wonder — could God really have been that biased? Did he put all his magic potion while creating a man like him? How could someone like him exist? He was flawless.

Except he wasn't. He isn't. And he could never be.

You can't fix people like Ryan Crest, and even if you try, you come out as a miserable existence. It was no doubt that he was addictive. His passion was like a wildfire that would destroy everything in sight. His passion was the kind where you'd willingly let yourself burn in the wild flames till you're nothing but ashes, hoping to have pleased him enough.

The way he looks is enough to send any woman puddling at her knees and any man cowering in fear. He exuded emotions through his green eyes, and with every emotion, you'd find yourself submerging more and more under the horrible spell of Ryan Crest.

And unfortunately, there is no cure. You cannot be out of his grip. No matter how much you cry, beg, or scream, the only way out of his clutches is if he wills it.

And this 19-year-old boy, Ryan Crest, was about to change his life forever.
