Re; Demeter

19th April

Farside Spaceport, Farside, Luna

Two flags fly, one above the other, marking the entrance to the spaceport. The flag on top is emblazoned by a golden dragon flying across a black flag. The other, is navy blue, but is adorned with three symbols in a pale silver colour. From left to right across the middle of the blue flag, there is a crescent moon, a stag, and a bow and arrow, all pointed toward the right. Of course, there aren't any flags flying, really. There isn't any wind on the moon, after all. They're both holographic. The two flags are the newly designed flags for the Freehold of Artemis and the State of Luna, respectively.

The transport passes underneath the holograms, and continues on towards the spaceport. Even from here, the Persephone is visible, simply due to its' gargantuan size. In just a few hours' time, the Persephone will be departing for Ceres once more, and I will be among the passengers. The stranger that had contacted me about the plot to assassinate Frank, never replied after I messaged the number that he had left with me. After that, I spent a lot of time in fear that perhaps Frank had simply set up the whole thing, that I had been tricked into it. But, even now, Frank has never said anything about it, so I imagine that that isn't the case. I can't face Frank anymore though. I don't know why. Is it because he almost killed fifteen million people, or is it because I said that I would kill him, my friend of two decades? I'm not sure, but either way I knew I couldn't stay by Frank's side any longer. That's why I'm taking the Persephone to Ceres. So that I can get away from Frank. On Ceres, I will be replacing Seine Montague as Governor. She'll be returning to the moon to work more directly with Frank. I got Frank to agree to this, by telling him that I thought Seine would be of more use to him from now on than I am. He didn't ask why I thought this, he just accepted it. He probably thinks that I can't stand to look at him. Because he's become so monstrous.

I feel something vibrate in my pocket. My phone? I thought I had thrown it out before we left the Farside settlement. There's no point taking my phone with me to Ceres. As you might expect there's no reception there. After all, phones only became usable on the moon a year or two ago. Here in Farside, phone reception was only introduced since the moon gained independence, within a matter of weeks. I didn't even know that I'd get reception this far out from the settlement proper.

I pull my phone out of the pocket on my spacesuit. We're walking across the surface to the Persephone from this transport, so we're not going to have any time or space to put on spacesuits out here. Therefore, me and the others in the transport with me, had to put our suits on before we left the settlement. When I see it, I realise the phone isn't mine. Surprisingly enough, the phone recognises my fingerprint, and unlocks on touch. That shouldn't be possible. I haven't seen this phone before in my life. Someone set this up, didn't they? It couldn't possibly be…

I see an icon, showing that a new audio file just got sent to the phone. I push play, then press the phone against my ear. The voice that I hear. I recognise it instantly. It's none other than Frank's.

"I know who you spoke to Kyle, I know what you agreed to. If you ever return to Luna again, I'll see to it personally that you wished that you died. No, you wished that you had never met me. That you had never crawled out of your mother's womb and into this world. I promise you that."
