Alaric found himself wandering a bridge, unbothered by the dense smoke and the flames stuck to his clothes. His chest felt empty, a crippling feeling of sadness he couldn't understand. The only clues to his current situation were fractured memories of a towering monster with a massive sword, a warm embrace of safety, a blue beam of light parting the black clouds above, and the familiar slender hand currently holding his own.
