1 1. Life Before the Reborn

I had always dreamed of becoming a programmer when I grew up. One of the reasons why I wanted to be one was because of my father. He was an application programmer for a moderate company. During days where my father could bring me, he would show me what he did and the different types of programming languages he uses.

After the first visit, I really got into programming. Even though I was six at the time, I knew right then that I wanted to program. Now, I could have never guessed that in 32 more years, I would be the world's famous programmer, creating new programs to solve enormous problems.

I have created programs that enable us to proceed on this lonely planet. I made an AI program that has a brain, allowing us to have humanoids. I even created a new programming language that enables newcomers to get into programming a lot easier.

I didn't stop in application programming; I also joined gaming companies and created different types of games. One big game was Beginning Anew, a game that was a replica of this world, allowing players to do anything without harming their lives. I also developed the RWVR or real-world virtual reality, which will enable players to feel like they're in the game.

So yeah, life was going well for me. Well, in the money situation at least. No matter where I worked or what I created, people still bugged me with one question - What superpower would you like to have?

Okay, that might be a dumb question, but it usually the first question people ask me. Even at the job interviews, they would ask me that question to get the train rolling and learn a little about me.

Now, the answer usually doesn't matter, but my answer is so unique that others always comment on it. I don't believe that it's my fault, though. I always thought that a cool superhero power would be the ability to program in the real-world. What I mean is having the ability to create a program that alters the world. I could create code to enable me to fly, change my stats so I'm the strongest or fastest, and could create code to solve any problems in the world.

Well, that was the power I was thinking about. I don't know how it would work since it doesn't exist, but I still thought it would be cool. I would have to work to use my power. Now, anyone who heard this would laugh and say that it was a dumb question. I even argued to one person about how it would be more useful than teleporting.

Currently, I'm at IT to create a program for a multi-dimensional perspective. If we can generate this code, we should be able to teleport ourselves or objects. Actually, I have already completed the code in a schematic. I'll be giving it to the head tomorrow. We might be able to design a real-life teleporter! This could be groundbreaking...

Yawn... Oh, man. I have been working for almost 35 hours with some 10 minutes naps and some food breaks. Shit, it's already 2 A.M. I'll get some hours of sleep but not as much as I need... I hope I can give it to him on time.

I left my office, which is about half a mile away from my house. Because of this distance, I always walk to work. As usual, I begin my journey home, transversing my way through people and the cars on the road. As I get closer to my home, the train station comes into sight. I live near the local train station since it was cheaper there. The sound from the train might be a factor, but I live far enough that it's not that problematic.

I walk with the crowd through the train station. We could hear the train coming. Most of the people here are for the train. Not me, so I need to cross it. I shuffle my way through the crowd and manage to make it to the front line. Then, the train became into sight.

As I watch the train, my vision starts to become a blur. I could hardly make the sight of the train now. My body begins to tremble. I couldn't hold my strength anymore. Then, someone pushes me. I couldn't tell who, but someone made me onto the track.

I fell as the train came to the station too. As I hit the railroad, the train slammed into me, bursting blood everyone. My vision, which was a blur, is now filled with red. Pain everywhere. I couldn't tell if I was still human because my body felted jumbled up. I could see a disembark arm lying off to the side.

I could hear the crowd screaming. Many of them are running around, others on the phone. The conductor of the train got out and ran to me. I couldn't hear anymore, so I don't know what he was doing or saying. My vision starts to fade into darkness. All my pain is now but a memory. All I could see is darkness. I couldn't feel or smell anything. So, this is what it is like to die...

As I sat in the darkness, I go over everything that happened in my life: the good and the bad. I created many useful and fun programs. I didn't do it for the money. I just thought coding was fun. Though, I would always get bullied. Even as a grown man, others would talk shit about me and sometimes make harmful physical contact.

Nevertheless, what do I do now? I guess I'll have to sit in this darkness for eternity. Ugh... Is this hell? What did I do to deserve this? I have been friendly and good for my entire life! Well, I thought I was. Where did I go wrong?

I sat in the darkness for five minutes, doing nothing but thinking. Then, something started appearing from the darkness. It was a human-looking being with a somewhat divinity outfit. If I had to guess, this is God.

"Welcome, Emon to the Pit of Darkness. This is not heaven nor hell, but a realm in between. Here, you'll be judged."

The figure, God, pulled out a piece of paper and started to read it after speaking. Then, after reading the article for a bit, he resumes talking. I didn't say a word because I thought it might lower my chances of heaven.

"Oh, it appears that you have been murdered. Someone in that crowd purposely pushed you into the train. With that and your good nature from your life, I will make my judgment. You will continue to live, but I'll have to put you in a different world. You'll have the same body, but time is different between worlds. Oh, I will also grant you a wish, or a power of sorts. What would you like?"

Wait, wait! Hold on a second! I'm being sent to another world?! I'm not an anime fan, but this is just like a plot in one of them. But not just being sent to another world, but I'm granted the power of my choice? Oooh! What should I pick? Teleportation? Flying? No, I know instantly what power I want. I small grin form in my mouth.

"Can I have the power to program within this world as some medium."

The divine being looked at with when I spoked my wish.

"Granted. I will take that from your memory of this power and create it within you as you get sent to the other world. Some things will be adjusted, but it will be relatively the same as what you picture. Now, I will begin to send you to the other world. Have a safe trip."

With that, my vision instantly turned white. Even though the divine being is not here anymore, I could somewhat feel him within me. Not just that, but I could feel my body change as if some power is being etched into me. I still can't believe it. I'm getting the power I have always dreamed of!

After a bit of time, the whiteness in my vision started to grey out into an ordinary sense. I blink a couple of times and could say that I have arrived in this new world. Okay, let's do this!
