1 Chapter 1

Ryan:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Ouch fuck," I shouted.
I knew how painful it is for chip changes I had mine changed every few months for the past 3 years.
"you will need to cover up the fresh wound with concealer so they do not know," said the surgeon, as she says it every damn time, each time getting more annoyed having to say it.
"I'm familiar to this."
she nods, and gives me a look of as worry, cleaning the tools down and placing them accordingly.
I remember when, people talked went on trips loved, had storys and personality, even straying from the modern system couldn't prevent the decay of ones-self.  We aren't allowed to share names here but she was brutal and did not say much and wanted to ask her things. Like "why do this job" "do you want to be here?" But I knew that was not allowed, so adapting to the unbearable silence and discomfort becomes silence and constant akward encounters becomes a way of life. Some people did bend rules but it was a risk, each person bringing you to a higher chance of death, better to be alone sometimes than to carry the burden of worrying someone may be caught and give you up as well.
I worked for these people for years, ever since they cut up enough people to change the chips out, and yet did not even know anyone here, I did meet people but you don't truly know anyone anymore. Thank god for the years before making us all plastic to reality; but maybe that was the origin of these issues.
"Whats my new chip and whats the task?"
The chip was a scanner that provided your Dna right to carry out whatever action you made for as they call it; not just that but whatever chip you had was a instant door to the career of the testing. No one knows how the testing is done it happens directly after birth, or for those who had lived before the program were tested while being unconscious. The chip was many things a cellphone your ID but most importantly DNA right. They knew that people were unique whilst making the program but they could ultimately decide what would best take you far; Things like, a Doctor, a Teacher, Entertainer, even a killer, even the "bad apples" had a place. Legally a gateway to crime and a golden ticket to success while others failure.
It brought many to an automatic doom of a life of nothing leaving some to even end it all. We fight for a freedom that not one of us should have to ask for. We aren't asking however.
"You have a killer chip. You are to kill whatever name that they give you at the dead drop."
Scientists found that biologically even evil was natural and found a way to fit all crime within limit. They believe it makes life balanced, however it just pushes more into corners whilst others abundance new system same dilemma.
Then until further notice I was to carry out hits. Sometime being one before a new chip other times many before a new chip.
Each person was assigned there own dead drop a place where orders from higher ups were placed, its like a pyramid of levels to my group not an ideal system but it kept us going over the years. We had our fair share of losses over the years but each one making us more capable of efficiency.
She walked off into a restricted room, without words telling me that I now was to leave and start the new quest. I started to walk out skeptically because this building was to be vacant and if a X saw he would search it, the location where the chips were changed was moved every few months, people in the past died from this and I wasn't going to have my life lost and everyone elses. I opened the door slowly, as respect to the other members then walked down the sidewalk at a fast pace. We were not allowed to drive cars by the building of where the group carried out anything, so our work would not be tracked cars are common but limited to use so it was, rare large clusters occurred. The dead drop I had was way out of the way from where I lived so its fucking great that I had to walk. I noticed a X out of the corner of my eye; after I had made it past quite a few buildings, fuck I just layed low and continued to walk down the street the X seemed to not be interested in me, they are fucking half machine people that scan your chips and kill you if you bend the rules or fuck up in any way, X as in X-ray mother fucker. I hate the way we have to live I used to live off the grid and now I hate everything I see. Gross streets and people struggling even though it's supposed to improve life; the constant reminder why I joined the people that I did.
Us who had seen the world before anyone in there 20s had seen the world before knew how bad it is now, but seeing kids grow up familiar to this the next generations would not see any sort of normal for years. The world was never normal but it only got further from that so suddenly.
I however did not like having a killer chip I have only had 2, and every-time something goes wrong and is more complex than needed. I'm legally allowed to kill one person a month until I get the chip gone. My original chip was a lover chip meaning they think Im made to be a therapist, sex work, or anything involving people, or genuine human connection as they put it. Which is rather not who I am, I have never been one to love and I guess I don't follow the rules so here I am ready to be an assassin for the time being.
Lost in thought I did not realize the X had been starting to approach me. I quickly rubbed the concealer on the chip scar before he noticed the chips on people were usually old so fresh scars would make an X skeptical.
"Scan please," as the fucking annoying cyborg holds out the reader.
I nervously put my wrist forward.
"Chip verified, and ahh killer that makes sense why your so damn weird," the x then hobbled off.
I finally breathe after holding me breath in panic, I fucking hate this place. I continue to walk towards the dead drop thinking about how my group will fuck these people up, or at least its what I tell myself I've been waiting for years.
Ignorant in thought I just pull forward to the drop.
I make it to the old phone post and pull the taped paper out and read the name "Alice Mark," "fuck fuck fuck". Alice Mark is the daughter of the man who made the program, he now has power over anyone since making the program. I knew now that my team is going to start wars and fast, Its a war but those people don't know what there fighting and that's why we will bring them down, but why was I to kill what is basically modern day royalty, I have no idea if thats even possible.
I flipped it over it saying "good luck" they screwed me and they know it.
