5 We are a team

Third person POV

As Ankoku walked inside the gym he felt the itch to play. He walked towards Seijuro who was talking with the coach, probably about the team player's positions.

"'morning Coach, Seijuro..." Ankoku stood in front of the two a hand behind his neck, guilty of skipping training.

"Oh Ankoku finally gave us some face, huh, don't expect me to forget about how many times you skipped training, so be ready for some extra only for you! but anyway you came to the right time, We were deciding the championship layout for the team, where do you want to be placed for the first match?"

Ankoku looked slightly surprised and put a hand on his chin in a thinking manner, Why would the Coach leave a decision this important to the players, and most importantly why would he make the first-years play in a championship, well not that he minded, it's going to be exhilarating.

"Well, uh, it's the same for me as long as I get to play heh"

"I told you, coach, it's undoubted that we have to make him play but what is his position?"

Just as the coach and Seijuro were brainstorming on what could be the best position for Ankoku who is the quite unknown factor, Nijimura came from behind him and put his arm on Ankoku pulling him in a half hug.

"Well, my kohai is good at anything why don't we switch his position with other players during the match when we have to do substitutions?"

"HAHAHAHA nice one Nijimura, I knew my decision in making you captain wasn't wrong. Well, the First string I want you all to regroup here!"

The coach 'patted' Nijimura's back as he laughed out loud, as the others started surrounding us to hear what the coach is on about.

"As all of you know, the basketball championship is coming around the corner, so we made a draft of the team order. I'd like to try it out so start forming the team. Ankoku I want you to play with the former remaining first stringers, Nijimura you're with him"

Ankoku's POV

'Oh, that'll be the first time I'll play with senpai and learn about his abilities, since I skipped quite a lot of training I've never seen him play and I'm also curious about how the others evolved!'

"Yes sir!"

"I'm relying on you Senpai~"

Nijimura chuckled as he walked to his position, me as the point guard and Nijimura as the point forward.

'I'll control the situation for a while until I can analyze how much better they became and the best position to switch in after all I want to go forward!'

As I had to do the tip-off position assigned to me by the sadist senpai, I stood to the front, with Aomine in before me a frown visible on his face, and a dark smirk on his face.

"Rival I see you decided to return to school, I was scared I had to go to your house to take you back!"

"eh... Hehe Sorry!"

Aomine just smirked more as started a dark aura coming out of him, luckily as he was about to speak again he got interrupted by the whistle signaling the start of the game.

Profiting from his distraction I jumped and passed the ball behind to our side, he stood still for a second and started running in the direction of the ball as I retired next to the hoop.

'he became faster'

Murasakiba is approaching too, Seijuro and Shintaro are on guard and then there is- who's that white-haired one?

"Pass!"

The ball came to me Murasakiba is ahead of me I can't move past him right of now. The only solution is passing huh?

With a quick touch, I gave it to Nijimura who cached it from behind.

'nice'

As senpai went to dunk Seijuro appeared and stole the ball, he passed to Shintaro who threw three-pointers which went perfectly to the hoop.

'exciting'

Everyone returned to position, and the ball's ours, with a quick pass, Nijimura took it once again, I run with him to the other side, Aomine appeared to steal the ball from him but he quickly passed to me. The white-haired boy came and tried to take the ball from me, as we were close I could observe him better. He has a patch on the right side of his front, he's scowling like it's the only face he can make, his eyes are very narrow, and he has two piercings on each ear.

'I like him, he seems the kind to get 4 fouls only in the first time'

He pounced at me, and I evaded to the right with a quick turn.

"you're not getting me-"

Seijuro came from the side appearing from my blind spot, not giving me time to finish the quick turn.

'I'm going to fall- no I'm not letting it end like this!'

A second before hitting the floor I used my empty hand to give me a push forward evading Seijuro under his arm and with a push thanks to my explosive power I stood up again and went for an Alley-oop, which Nijimura caught and dunked.

"Nice shot!"

While our teammates were rejoicing over the point I moved toward the new player and extended my hand to him.

"Hey, you! I like you what's your name?"

He hit my hand away and looked at me like I was a lowly creature with a regular scowl.

" Haizaki Shogo, prepare to get destroyed lady"

"Ah sorry thug but I already have a rival, isn't that right Aomine?"

He came from my side and gave me a high five, a grin on his face as the others approached too.

"Nice assist man, you got us there, I thought that after you disappeared for like two weeks you were dead only man!"

"I was just sick I swear! Now if you'd let me go I would be grateful because I feel senpai's demonic aura behind us!"

As Aomine let go of me and made an awkward laugh he returned to position with his hands above his head, while Nijimura took me from my collar and dragged me around.

"Ankoku, good pass, let's keep the same tensity shall we, oh and Haizaki's ability is to copy moves so bear with him ok?"

He smiled calmly as he went to position, so the new player's ability is copy...

"Huh!?"

Isn't that just like overpowered, he's gotta have a flow let's wait and see.

The game proceeded at a fast pace, with constant scores on both sides. In the end, the game ended with our win, of course, mostly thanks to Nijimura but I don't think I lacked either.

Anyway it ended with a 111 to 102 for us, it was a non-stopping attack from both sides, pity I didn't get to attack that much, still, it was fun!

"*sigh* ouch! why'd you hit me for Aomine!"

"Well, What was that sigh for? you won you octopus!"

"Octopus, if I'm one then what are you the hedgehog sonic?"

"He kinda is blue like him tho, but how about we go eat I'm kinda hungry"

While Murasakiba and Aomine started fighting I backed down slowly to not get involved but my back hit someone as I turned around I found out it was Seijuro.

"You should cut your hair it'll only give you a disadvantage on the court"

"uh I should but until I lose I promised someone I wouldn't cut it, ah and right sorry for ignoring your message my phone broke down"

"No worries I expected something like that, shall we go hear what coach Shirogane thinks about the formation"

"Ah I think I'll skip, I've got some things to do but keep me updated k? Oh and say goodbye to the others for me!"

I exited the court the last thing I heard was the screeching of shoes hitting the hardwood of the court. I put on quickly a jacket on the training uniform and run to reach who I wanted.

"Hey, Haizaki wait up for me! shall we go to the arcade together!"

"Fuck off I was already going"
