9 Chapter 9

"How long have you been working with the Kerheits?" - she asks to her scort.

"All my life, Miss Gracie." - she politely answers.

"Do you have a family?" - she asks again, knowing this could be a intrusive question.

"We, the Kotsumoto household, work for the Kerheit since the dawn of the Island. Generations of butlers, equerries, servants, they are all in my blood." - she is polite and proud of her own function.

Gracie is distraught. Even her maid had a family, why her was so unfortunate to be an orphan and a servant?

"I have no family and was adopted by the staff of the Volosonova household. Until now, I was a cooker." - she is saddened. Gracie now realized another wish: to have a family.

"I am so sorry. I had heard the Volosonova staff are constantly mistreated." - the maid is apologetic.

"Yes. Sometimes, in hard periods of the year, usually in the shortages of water, the servants would have little food to rely on, meanwhile all the good stuff was for the fallen royal family." - Gracie feels depressed at this thought. She had good friends in the household, but sometimes they would fail to protect her.

"I am sorry. Really. But, now a new life comes ahead. And this is your new room." - the maid introduces Gracie to her suite. And her jaw drops in the floor with such beauty.
