Rejection

None of them spoke for the rest of the journey. Elisa had planned to pretend to be asleep so she could put her head on Sir Karl's shoulder again, but she was too nervous to do that. 

She sat stiffly at the corner of the carriage, clenching her fists and fixing her gaze on the scenery outside the window. 

Sir Karl was in a similar state as he couldn't find any word to say in this situation. His back was stiff, and he couldn't move at all. He was completely frozen as he stared straight into the empty air.

The two remained silent until the carriage reached the gate of the royal palace. It was only then that Sir Karl took a long, deep breath as if he had just returned to reality. Even so, he still didn't speak.
